Can confirm Terminal Montage is fantastic and also has the best music at the end of his videos. I've been meaning to rewatch them since hearing he sneaks scripta into his subtitles.

Maybe I didn't phrase it well and I don't mean to overstate a point that doesn't define the video, but it had some more tense music choices than usual and built up the challenges of randomness in SPO as something more unforgiving than other games he's covered. There's a little red line-visual effect that stuck with me too.

Still pretty much what I expect out of Summoning Salt, but I do think those points are different enough from his other videos to notice.

I like to think this movie will improve upon Us, if for no other reason than the title would also become its own negative review and recommendation if it falls short.

Get Out is the most recent movie I've seen that I would call an instant classic.

Us was underwhelming but had some neat elements along the way. It couldn't balance when it wanted to be scary or funny nearly as smoothly though.

NES Punch-Out is the biggest name. Wii Punch-Out has fans and is my personal favorite.

Super Punch-Out just didn't have the hype of Tyson or quality and quantity of the Wii-make.

Our generation is definitely the first of its kind regarding Ngamer's point with online records of people growing up, and that's something we just never foresaw or understood in quite the same way future generations will. Some things that were joked or said in the 1990s and 2000s aren't now (or shouldn't be) -- and it's hard to always figure out the right line of cringe, grace, and reflection to give as people who are now in 2022 looking back at past behaviors. Paratroopa's also right that some things can be handwaved and some can not, so...it's a weird line. Youth feels so smart at its peak, yet time and hindsight can humble most people who seek their lessons. That's probably a good trait in a person at least, being able to look back and recognizing room to improve.

More to the point of the topic, I really like Bismuth! I got more to check out from here...just takes time.

And ha, funny timing about Summoning Salt. I liked the new Super Punch-Out video and it felt like it had more of a horror-edge to the production than others he's done before.

The Hobbit stuff seems vaguely familiar but I guess I don't really remember it.

I'll have to catch up on it and the rest of the recommendations soon. Thank you!

Love his work and the Mario Kart 64 video about world record perfection deserves awards (however out of date it has since become). It does seem like Summoning Salt makes multiple videos of the same games I understand he was already familiar with (Mario Kart 64, Super Mario Bros. 1, and Punch-Out immediately come to mind). Nothing wrong with that, just looking for some variation from them and his other videos now.

What are other games with interesting speed-run histories I can learn about through online videos? And what are some other channels doing similar work as Summoning Salt with regards to recognizing the history of speed run world record progression?

Fair point. I was going off of memory that Nintendo took some atep that was likely just to help the Wii cross 100,000,000, but also my memory is hazy.

Disliked Joe Rogan from his comedian days. Clips of him talking with better comedians about comedy was the only time I cared to tune in for his show, and that's been a few years ago now. Got no need for anything else in his career.

I'm gonna predict the Switch can beat the PS2. If the next LoZ meets the hype without a new system syphoning sales from the Switch, if price drops land at competitive times, if the Switch keeps landing solid releases...

...I dunno, I just don't see Nintendo needing to release a new system in the next two years. If they can go three years and keep some momentum, it'll be close...and if it's close, I don't think Nintendo allows that landmark to be missed.

It's an embarrasing decision that has made a lot of immediate money for the author and bad press for the county in question.

I feel like I could make one in a similar plexiglass cube but have it be the Dragon boss fight in MM2 instead -- it feels like an easy way to start with making diaromas, anyway. I can get more complicated with later ones if I like it.

What materials does it take to do something like this? Where do I get them? Is it more hard or time-consuming? What am I probably not considering yet?

The example I posted above seems like a complicated one compared to others I've seen for video games and especially compared to a tutorial video I saw, but I like the look of things like them and shadowboxes so I thought I'd ask before starting a simpler one

I don't record these polls but I thiiiiink LoZ:BotW won poll all five years I ran it with it as an option. Maybe it lost to Witcher 3 once when SSB4 and LoZ:LBW were in the poll (as well as FF15)...but it confidently won the other years and I think it still won that one too.

I'll wait for the next part of FF7R to flop before I consider taking MD over it. Even if it flopped on the level that Mass Efect 3 did though, Mass Effect 2 has remained strong and seemingly unphased by it

Since we're counting GotY-victories and talked about Mario VS Samus earlier, this is the moment where Metroid (again) surpasses Super Mario for GotY-victories.

And I'll concede Dread is likely closer to MP1 than I was first considering. Still not convinced MK8D is a gimme-match, but MD can likely find itself as the Switch's fourth biggest game at the moment.

Separately, I can't imagine another Metroid game besides MP1 and SM beating MD.

Mario can of course still beat Samus, but that's going back seventeen years for a match-up we saw twice last contest and Dread wasn't even announced at that time.

Not as close as I once thought it'd be!

Not sure yet if this is strength from MD (my guess) or weakness from 2021. I don't expect MD to touch the likes of LoZ:BotW/SSBU/SMO and it may not quite reach MK8D either, but I'd bet on it beating the likes of AC:NH and FE:3H.

For me:

LoZ:BotW ~= SSBU > FF7R > MD

BotW's getting my vote, but really it just depends on if I want a single-player or multi-player experience at that moment. All are good, just haven't played RE2r.
