If you want to play that game, you pretty much have to include Santa as a central character for it to qualify as a Christmas movie.

Let It Snow is a song, not (to my knowledge) a movie

If the audience sings along with a Christmas song at the end of a movie taking place on Christmas Eve, centered around a Christmas party, I'd say that makes it a Christmas movie.

I was originally going to watch No Holds Barred, the Hulk Hogan movie costarring Tiny Lister (Deebo from Friday). Then I realized today is the first day of Kwanzaa and it would be a bad idea to watch a movie in which a white guy -- especially one who famously went on a racist tirade -- beats up a black guy.

Maybe I should watch Shaft instead.

I think in order to count as a Christmas Movie, at least one character's arc has to involve discovering and/or searching for the meaning of Christmas.

That wasn't at all a part of A Christmas Story.

I do have to ask though, should Die Hard count as a buddy cop movie? I've always seen it as one in which one cop was at the center of the action and the other was outside the fire.

I saw it at a local theater as part of their Christmas series. The audience was electric. Quoting lines, clapping every time there was an explosion, etc. And we sang Let It Snow along with the end credits.

Seeing it on TV is great, but seeing it in a theater is like spending 2 hours at Disney World with no lines.
