To me, cgi just kills modern movies. There's nothing impressive anymore about films. Honest to god I think Independence Day in 1996 was the last film where the special effects really amazed me. There's (now dated) cgi in there sure but so much was still miniatures and models. And it's still visually head and shoulders above stuff like Infinity War.

It's all same-y now. They can render armies fighting, planets exploding, bring dead actors back to life, etc. And none of it is engaging. None of it is special. Too many films rely on it and it always, always looks obvious. To the point that it's just boring.

VIII

XI has some QoL improvements. But imho it feels like such a step back from VIII in many ways. Poor world map or lack thereof. Double the characters but each is half the character any of VIII's cast were. I think the poor music has been talked to death so suffice to say I agree. And there's definitely a difficulty drop from VIII to XI.

That's been my thought on this from day 1.
A good story is great if the gameplay is there but a good story doesn't mean squat if everything else is boring as hell.
And that's my million dollar question. Is it fun?
Are there a thousand things to do, explore and play with sorta like Skyrim? Or is it all "Oooooh Aaaahhh. The visuals are so amazing!" but whatever because everything else is clunky and shit like GTA4?
Because 99.9% of any talk I hear and things I read about it talk about nothing but story and visuals. And what little I see of anything else is usually negative citing issues with clunky controls, slow ass moving everything and boredom.

Runner up are those bright colored hairballs for Cricket. They were fine when they didn't talk. But ever since they have voices now they are incredibly annoying. You can tell whoever wrote them thinks their really damn clever and funny but the reality is they couldn't be farther from the truth. The one where it's singing and toweling off is exceptionally annoying.

I've had the joy of a few toothaches. Worst was a front top one. The root became infected and the gum swelled up. Even so much as drawing breath in made it sting like hell. It no joke felt like a red hot ice pick being driven up behind my nose into the back of my right eye. Mind blowingly painful. Couldn't get a dentist appointment for about a week. Took about 4x the dosage of tylenol in the meantime which did nothing.
Ambesol right on the tooth and gum. And putting a cold pack on my face was the only thing that helped dull it. I swear though, when the dentist finally gave me that numbing shot I felt like I wanted to cry because it was the first relief in a week. Had to drain the infected root. Then wait about 2 weeks for the swelling to subside before he could do the root canal. I was on codeine by that point so I was fine.

I think god I grew up and went through high school in the 90s. The 90s were the last great decade for music. So many genres had their peak. There was something great for everyone no matter what type of music you were into.

New school superintendent came in. Then without any interview process his wife gets a job as a teacher. And his fresh over the boarder sister in law who knows about a page's worth of english and had zero employment history gets a job as lead maintenance at our high school site.
And of course she's one of those types that just thinks her shit don't stink. Attitude to the max and pushy. And always pissed off with people when she's trying to say something (order someone around) in spanish and duh stupid, no one understands.

The head office people talk so everyone knows he forced her in because they're the ones that do the hiring and they can't stand him, her or his wife.
You can bet your life that once he's out she's gone too. Superintendents never last long.

The limited time thing really worries me. The game is just explaining social links and all I have up is a bare barebones guide for a general each day thing right now. All I've done is make some tools, study a couple times, go for a run with ryuji, and take random drugs for the doctor so I could buy more and/or work for her? Is doing drugs working for her?

This game has so many layers and is confusing on what to do when. Should I just have multiple guides up to switch in between, or kinda wing it on my first play?

If you want to get everything. You have to use a detailed guide.
I love jrpgs. But this was one game that was absolute torture to me. Boring as hell, limiting as hell. Story drags on about 30-40 hours past where it should end. Art direction is amazing. And honestly is it wasn't for that I would have stopped after about 10 hours.
Let me boil down the whole story as snarkily yet as honestly as it is "Damn adults! Always fucking hating on us teens! We know better than all of them! Because we're pure(?) or some shit." Repeat for whole game. And the most interesting aspects of the story is honestly the first scenario. That's literally it. And it gets rather annoying hearing it. Don't expect much.

Every damn year they do less. The kids get out earlier, fewer days of school, shorter lesson plans. I hate the commercials. Especially the ones with some Santa driving his holly jolly ass around in some car they're trying to sell you. I hate that on Nov 1 I have all this shit shoved in my face wherever i go when the pumpkin from the night before is still on my porch and Thanksgiving is still 3 weeks away.
The crowds of assholes at every store. The crowds of assholes clogging the streets and freeway.

Even at church where they should be focused on the one thing the holiday is about it's instead about money, money, money. A second collection for this. A third collection for that. So like any other weekend in a catholic church.
I walked into a Bath & Bodyworks the other day since it was right next to the Barnes & Noble I was at and two grown ass women were honest to god acting like excited chickens that just shat out an egg over some box of lotion a worker brought out from the back. It's the last box OMG! They were shoving their hands in there in a panic before the worker even put it on the table. I left. I thought to myself I hope you both choke on your next meal and left.

Don't enjoy it anymore. I use to. But the festive feelings have been strangled out of me.

They were more acquaintances than friends but a few from school have died over the years. Accidents and one "died after short illness" in the obit. Which always makes me curious. Would have been like 28-29 at the time and had 7 kids I think. Was a healthy dude in high school. My class size was a bit over 200 so we're not a very big community.
One friend in first grade school died from a fever. Of course I didn't even know this until I was an adult and stumbled across his grave and of course questioned my mother. They told me he moved away.
One suicide in high school. Guy who sat next to me in on class junior year.

No one I would call a real friend yet. Some I haven't seen or talked to for nearly 20 years. Some longer than that. Most moved away and who knows what became of them.
