the most disappointing part of this entire topic series was when i correctly called the mastermind entirely from thematic analysis after chapter 4 and not a single person gave me any props for it

well people are already worried tony will go home in advantage-geddon

because on his tribe

jeremy has "safety without power" (leave tribal, safe but can't vote)

sandra has a 1-time idol

kim has an idol

denise has an idol

so it's not out of the question that jeremy and denise feel unsafe, so jeremy uses advantage, denise has no choice but to play idol, sandra plays hers because it's the last time it can be played, and then kim has to play hers, and then tony goes home

it'd be "historic"

and you know jeff loves it when people get screwed because of twists and advantages!

she's amazing. she's catty and gets into a lot of fights, she has lots of plans and diary rooms showing she's has great game sense even if she's sometimes unable to in practice (which is good tv), she has a showmance started by a 5-year-old-like "you're nasty" "no you're nasty", her goodbye message was all "you're so naive, im the mastermind, next time dont start playing on day 11", she's just great tv all around

but she plays very riskily. the decoy plan last week was for everyone to tell the real target's alliance she's the backdoor target D:

Minh-Ly is Tony. Very loud and opinionated, has all these plans flipping back and forth, all the screen time, fun confessionals. while everyone says she's a target, she's not really a target. she's fantastic

you do a great disservice to the witness by mentioning that lines exist in the environment. discovering your first one as a player is the greatest and most satisfying twist in the game, and when you mention it in a review which is being read by people who haven't played the game yet, you rob them of experiencing that moment. it's a spoiler and should be marked as such.

so would you differentiate between a game that gets released on a system like the virtual console that lets you create save states from a menu outside the game, vs a game where in the first level, yoshi pops up and says "by the way, you can press Y to create or load save states at any time!"?

it's cool that you actually have some personal experience with parts of the epitaph

i mean i think it depends on context

if you're just chatting with someone about which games you've gotten through you don't wanna be like "i didn't beat celeste" "oh okay i won't talk about the ending then" "no no i saw the ending and credits, i got to the end, i just didn't <i>beat</i> it because i used accessibility mode"

but if someone is like "have you beaten 7C in celeste" you probably wouldn't wanna say "yeah i beat it" if you did it with invincibility on because then you're being misleading

For those who don't know me, I mostly like jrpgs, platformers/metroidvanias and indie games.

this is pretty much my exact taste in games (except also PW-like "visual novels") so just know that even if i don't always post in your topics i am usually reading them and trusting your opinions =)

i mean, it was in the first like 30 minutes of that episode that shannon glitched out and was like "sorry, no, kanon and i can never be in the same room together, sorry!" which spells it out to you but he doesn't seem to have had any comments on that either

turns out there were at least two times where i genuinely did do something in an unintended way. or at least, i think i did. maybe multiple ways are intended. felt a bit cheat-y though.

it's not on the same tier as portal or the witness, but it's not a large step below

this is basically how i feel about it

it's been in beta branch for a while and went through many changes, it's been in statis for a while now and most people agree it's in a good place. people expect it to be released soon based on that, probably not until after holidays though. (and it has most of its art, if not all of it)

man that's gotta be the most subdued reaction to "there are only 16 people on the island" ever

"i'll keep it in mind but i don't want to waste time on it so i'll move on"

forgive me if i'm overstepping here, but didn't episode 6 end with a really big line? i feel like you didn't mention it or discuss it, unless i'm blind and missed it.

there are tons of mods. it has steam workshop and lots of people make things

new characters, new areas, new enemies, cards, relics, etc

i don't know of anything particularly must-play but i think the most well-known is "Replay the Spire" which adds cards and relics

oh, and the colored map mod which makes each icon a different color. that one's good.

agreed, one of the first things i thought about chapter 9 was "this feels more like every room is a puzzle"

but i also agree with the last segment scaling the difficulty down, and i actually think this is a brilliant design decision - after working your way through some of the toughest rooms in the game, you are given the reward of one final stretch where you get to fly through everything and feel great doing it. in fact, the final room is sort of designed in the same way - the beginning section is hard, but once you get to the vertical part it eases up, and you likely won't die more than a couple of times in the final segment

There are multiple ways to not be able to write women. Like there's the classic way you might think of based on outdated stereotypes or gender norms, but there's also the Stephen Moffat "all my female characters have the same snarky clever badass personality" which initially looks super empowering or w/e but then falls apart when you realize they're all the same

i watched the anime back when it was a big deal on board 8 (thanks mumei), but didn't finish it because i got busy irl and then it had been too-long-to-jump-back-in/too-soon-to-restart, and then the same thing happened again on my second attempt

i consider it a masterpiece and the only reason i haven't finished it is because it's so good i'm waiting for the "right" time to watch it

i should probably read the house in fata morgana. i like beautiful emotional stuff. the whole gothic vibe thing made me think it wasn't for me, but, i suppose i shouldn't judge a book by it's cover.

this has been my favourite theory since the start

i didn't beat act 3 because i was already 110+ hours in, and even though this is the funnest RPG i've ever played, that's still a lot of hours (more than i've ever put into almost any other single-player story, afaik, including xenoblade which i've only made it to 60 hours or so in) and the spark ran out.

i felt act 2 gave me a complete experience and act 3 was a bonus. i'm sure i'll finish it one day.

i said the same exact thing about natsuhi - i felt bad for letting her drop just because she didn't get focus in eps 2 to 4

i had a tough time deciding between fennekin, cyndaquil, and tepig.

i'm pretty certain if you showed all of them to a group of people who had never heard of pokemon in their entire lives, the results would be a lot more evenly spread out.

they get their directions confused when they're busy summarizing every plot event and giving you their thoughts on them

I like books 4 and 5 the most, especially 4. =)

I don't think book 6 will ever be released though, no. I'd be surprised if it did.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt that way about Berseria's gameplay. Had no clue what was going on in the battles, seemingly endless possibilities of combos, but I could never figure out what made one attack different from another. But button mashing was enough to get by anyway, so whatever.

Also hated the item system where you'd just get endless copies of the same items with slight differences.

I made it probably about halfway through the story and I should probably finish it but I only liked half the cast. (eleanor is my waifu tho)

I think the experiment failed and the joke next episode will be Eleanor protesting with "Brent was ABOUT to say sorry!". The Judge will be like "really, you think?", and let him go for like 5 more seconds where it's revealed that he actually said "I'm so, so, sorry that you feel that way" or something equally Brent-ish

I don't know where they go from there if it fails, but then that's the magic of the show I guess.

i've seen a lot of people speculate on various ideas that all sort of come down to like "well the experiment failed but the real experiment was the friends you made along the way" i.e. ways to give them a pass for failing because at least some stuff went well either for the main characters or for 3/4 of the newbies who didn't do 100% horribly, but i don't really want it to feel like a cop out or a "you failed but you win anyway"

looking forward to seeing what clever idea they have in store
