My prediction is that Rosa is not evil, but she is too meek and submissive and has therefore tolerated her daughter's psychopathic actions enough to the point where her daughter controls her and will use her as an accomplice to cover up evil deeds.

First Impressions: Hideyoshi is too benign and silly to make for a compelling villain, even if he did a 180 personality change. Also, if he's rich already, he has no motive to kill for money. (Unless he is at risk of losing his business?) Eva is too caustic and mean-spirited to make for a surprising villain, so she isn't the killer.

george is jouji in japanese? which makes a bit more sense than a japanese person being named george, though i don't know enough about japan to know if this was intended to sound like george or not.

tbh at least the character himself talks about how weird his name is so maybe i shouldn't be so quick to judge

i'm waiting for this to somehow be a plot point like his parents gave him a weird name because of something written on the dead guy's will (if this is it, i called it)

this is what happens when you localize things to english and they don't make sense. In japanese this makes perfect sense but I guess the localizers couldn't figure out anything clever to do and/or they wanted to stick to literal translations and they figure anyone playing this weeb shit understands that it's a japanese thing

I'm pretty interested in localization so I'll probably note these things when they happen, especially since I can switch between japanese and english with a key press

I read the prologue. I have to say, the voice acting is very, very overdramatic, at least for this guy who is probably dead and not in the rest of the story.

I think I actually knew that the story is about 18 family members fighting over an inheritance? I'm also glad that knowing Beatrice is evil (?) isn't a spoiler, I was a bit worried it was one of those spoilers that has become commonplace, but it seems she is introduced as a suspicious figure right from the start.

I got Umineko during the last Steam Sale, and it seemed like there was some desire for a playthrough topic.

I've played all the handheld "visual novel" games like Zero Escape, Ace Attorney, and Danganronpa, but I have very little experience with actual visual novels. (Only played Tsukihime when this board was obsessed with it 10 years ago, I think that's it)

I don't know anything about this game, except that it is a murder mystery about people who are trapped on an island, and that there is a character (maybe a witch) named Beatrice. I think I heard that there are no actual gameplay choices, so it is entirely linear.

Please don't talk about any future events! I don't like even the smallest spoilers or implications of any kind (you know the type "oh man can't wait for you to get to X" "Y character becomes really awesome later", etc), so if there are any, I'll just stop posting!

I downloaded the patch that adds improved graphics and voice acting.

It's my first time doing a playthrough topic, so I don't really know what to do! I don't know the structure of the game or what sort of commentary to give, so we'll see. I do like doing character rankings though and (probably?) killer likelihood rankings.

Let me know if you are interested, if no one is then I will be embarrassed and close the thread, which is okay too.

I made it my goal to finally dive into the Zelda series a couple years back. I played Zelda I and loved it, I beat II and acknowledged that it uh has lots of good, unique, gameplay, but has aged horribly. And then I got like 75% of the way through LttP before life got busy and I never returned to it. I plan on continuing the series in chronological order eventually.

I'm not very good at fighting games so I'm not into smash much. I played the Wii one 10 years ago but I'm just not really into it. I actually sort of like fighting games in concept and love seeing all the characters and special moves, but I'm awful at them. No reflexes.

To be honest, I have not played OoT, Soul Calibur, or SSB4 or Ultimate. So I'm not the best person to weigh in on this. Either way, I still don't see the harm in making a push for Sheik, and I think even if they are the same, it'd be neat to see both in a bracket. So I suppose that's the end of my contribution here. I have to admit, Moogle raises some good points. If Nightmare and Siegfried are truly two different entities, one of whom is a spirit that possesses the other for some time (but not all the time), then that's a different situation compared to a character who is just a disguise.

The fact that they get separated in Smash games (I haven't played them so I don't know) is the best argument for them being different, but I think you couldn't really argue for Zero Suit Samus being a different character than Samus.

Sure, Sheik has a different name, but if the character was called "Disguised Zelda" instead, would you have any case? If Zero Suit Samus was suddenly called "Zero Hunter" as an alias instead, would that make her any more of a different entity?

i think both sheik and zelda should be in since you explained why they are different characters. if i felt they were the same character then i would feel this was pointless.

Yeah, I have issues ranking characters in almost anything good- they all play a role. It's not like Seinfeld would be more enjoyable if Jerry, Kramer and Elaine were replaced by three copies of George
