Just checked and I'm at 65 hours, I would say about 5 of those near the end felt a little tedious doing shrines I didn't really want to but didn't really want to pass by not doing either.

But 60 hours having tons of fun wandering is really good! I imagine there's at least another 10 hours of main line left or so, so this is going to be a great 75 hour game.

There is really no need to turn a great 75 hour game into a miserable 100 hour game

Yeah I'm at 60 hours too, 100 shrines and it's starting to wear on me too. I got all of the shrines in the last game but the thought of getting the rest in this one feels exhausting to me so I probably won't.

ive got 85 shrines, 45 lightroots, and 203 koroks

i dunno how youre not hitting more shrines while doing all that other stuff. Theyre all over the place.

I'm at 80 hours and feel like I'm halfway through my playthrough if that. I've beaten one dungeon, haven't even gotten the Great Fairies or the Master Sword yet. 64 shrines

How do you all beat games like this so fast lol

I feel like that is fairly obvious. To the point that there might be a tutorial tip heavily hinting at it. Every time I get a shrine or lightroot, I mark the other layer of the map so I know where to look.

Well, I think I'm going to be able to finish the Fire Temple before I quit for today (which will bring me to having the four temples finished). It was pretty straightforward... until I fell when going for the final gongs and didn't know how to easily get back to where I was and lost my tempo. I was getting impatient and probably missed an obvious way into one of the gong rooms, but I ended up doing this out of frustration and I want everyone to judge me for it, because I'm pretty sure this wasn't what they wanted you to do:

I actually think the opposite! Possibly because I went pretty far from the starting location pretty quick and have like 20 orbs saved up and 6 hearts, but I didn't find there were many shrines which I did in a couple minutes without having to think, whereas almost every shrine in BotW was like that. I spent a lot of time in Akkala, Eldin, Necluda and Lanayru, though, and the shrines have gotten noticeably easier as I've headed towards Hebra like the game tries to push you to.

I think there have been a lot of shrines that turned out to just be blessings even though they didn't seem hard to get to, and they didn't even have a challenge associated with them.

usually the blessings make sense because the shrine puzzle essentially happens in the overworld instead, but theres definitely been a couple where I was like why is this just a blessing because it felt like I was being double rewarded for doing something.

Specifically I remember one in a pirate cove. Like ok, I had to kill all these pirates to get to the shrine, but killing the pirates was already something I wanted to do for a quest and for treasure. You dont need to also give me a free shrine.

after very many hours with this game I have come to a conclusion of a criticism

this game did not need a dedicated horse button. I basically never even ride a horse because Im flying around or building cars, and when I do they always end up getting abandoned somewhere so theyre too far away to whistle for next time I want a ride.

i wish theyd used the button for activating sage powers or something instead

If it's possible to vaguely answer this without spoilers, I'd appreciate it: I'm thinking of going to Eventide, and I only have five hearts. I have no idea if the gameplay there will be similar to what we were treated to in BotW, but I have a feeling it is.

Given my low health, will this be extremely frustrating? Oh, and I do have max stamina, so at least sprinting for days is an option.

I didn't play BOTW, so I don't know what that's in reference to regarding Eventide, but I haven't had any real trouble to this point with just 3 hearts still.

I did everything I'm aware there is to do on the island and in the depths, and even if there is a situation that catches you off guard, having a handful of fairies on hand should save you from the rare occasion you get one shot (assuming you're not getting hit by stuff frequently).

The game just gives you way too many resources in combination with bullet-time arrows that combat isn't really a problem unless you get unexpectedly overwhelmed. But even if that happens, it's very easy then to retry and succeed with a plan in mind instead the next time. Just bomb arrows and dazzle fruits alone (not to mention puffshrooms, muddle buds, and I'm sure like a dozen other items you can shoot that I pretty much never use), trivialize regular enemies. Really, even just headshots without extra resources are usually more than enough.

The limiting factors are more so the damage your weapons deal and what resources you have in your inventory - not total hearts.

I will say that there was one part that was a bit more challenging that I decided to save for later. The boss above Eventide used up most of my bows (and this was before I found the guy to expand my pouches or whatever for more bows) and like all of my bomb flowers to that point, so I didn't save after that part since it seemed like a big waste of resources (plus the reward was pretty disappointing).

I did all three levels of Eventide with eight hearts. The sky part was a challenge, but manageable. Honestly, I had more trouble getting to the sky island for Eventide than completing it.

IDK how you guys had the resources to fight a Gleeok with only 6 hearts. At that point in the game I don't know how you'd even do damage without breaking all of your weapons onto his face.

The temple even gives you capsules to remind you they exist. It obviously is intended to let you solve it however you want

Meanwhile, I have 49 shrines, 10 lightroots, 12 koroks, and I'm at Hyrule Castle getting my butt handed to me by the two groups of five Phantom Ganons you have to fight. I made it to the second phase and the entire floor got covered in gloom because I evidently didn't realize that some of them will start spreading it unless you attack them. As you can probably tell, I've been trying to see how far I can get without going out of my way to explore and find more shrines/seeds/whatever else buffs you, and it's been rough at times, but this might finally be too much for me. I should try to exchange some of my stamina for hearts, since I probably don't need the former as much at this point and have max stamina with only one extra heart (beyond the ones you get from beating the temples and such).

Update: never mind, got it the next try (though I had to eat a lot of apples).
