Figured there could be a different thread for discussion of people just playing the game because the review zone topic is now just about Skyward Sword.

Ive played this for about an hour. Sticking things and koroks together is already fun. The opening section was really cool and surprisingly scripted compared to BotW which just throws you out there though Im not complaining.

I bought it at midnight (standard European time), but my day today started at 6am and ends at 4am tonight, so I haven't been able to start yet. Will likely play all day tomorrow though. Very excited.

I'm surprised it took this long for a dedicated game discussion topic, but thank you for making it.

Anyway, I had a mini launch party last night with a couple friends, wherein one of them announced she was expecting her first baby <3

We dinked around in the opening until reaching Ultrahand and all called it a night. Given the baby announcement and the casual vibe with friends, I wasn't as absorbed in the (what seemed to be awesome) intro last night, so I'll probably restart later this morning and fully engross myself in.

I was going to wait until tomorrow to start but... I think I need to take a half day. Me evening is planned already but I just can't wait.

Maybe this is the game I finally buy an OLED switch for

I work from home so I started playing while I was "at work" but then I got busy unfortunately

accidentally fused a big club to the front of my shield

i have no idea if this helps in any way, but looks very silly

fusing in general is silly. Like I glue a crappy stick to the front of my sword and somehow my sword is more effective. whats that stick doing for me?

First thing I did after the fuse tutorial was fuse a sail to a stick to create a gust weapon, then blow a full pack of enemies off the island and into the abyss.

I think this is going to be fun!

This sidequest I'm on seems fucked up and they need to rewrite the text for it.

I'm supposed to throw four eye stones into chasms on the great plateau, then carry them in the depths to a certain location? But the way they phrase it and the way the quest log tracks your progress, they make it sound like you should drop each of the four, and then afterwards carry them each underground. But now after finding a way down there, I can't find the first eye I dropped into the chasm so I guess maybe it respawned at the top, meaning I just wasted over an hour going to each location?

As far as I can tell fusing non-Zonai stuff to shields doesn't usually have an effect?

also how do you get money in this game I am perennially poor and I've only spent like 70 rupees

I dont think Ive seen a rupee yet!

Jiukoum - Built for Rails Name of Shrine

First rail was extremely simple
Second rail I spent A LOT of time on then I was able to MacGyver a box to travel on
Third rails my box strategy completely failed and MUCH later I finally figured the correct way that you were supposed to navigate that second and third rail

There are definitely non-Zonai items that affect shields. For example, sharp stuff can be attached to make it so that you can parry to cause damage.

I got some rupees from killing Yiga Clan members, but that's it so far.

One of the tutorial shrines from what I remember

the first settlement you encounter on the surface has a shop. Most of my rupees have come from selling stuff there. also they sell a shirt.

also you may have encountered Bubbulfrogs. (spoiler tagging this to be super safe but its just a mechanics thing) When you defeat them, they turn into a little axolotl thing and run away. Hitting the little version of them makes them drop progressively better rupees. I hit one twice and it dropped a green then a blue.

I think it was just in a chest on the sky islands. It may have been slightly hidden, but basically on the main path.

Tutorial island question

Was there a warm shirt somewhere? I found the warm pants right after I had gotten to the shrine in the cold section

Is there a way to tell where the targets in geoglyphs are? I mostly just run around randomly until I find them...

I totally misread what he was talking about at first and tried placing the fans that were lying around on the little dish thing.

Oh dang, this came out today? For some reason I thought it was coming out towards the end of the month.

I tried to go through the cold area before the second shrine. Thought I could make it till I hit an ice wall and ran out of food

I skipped the tutorial where you make something with a fan the first time by putting it under one of those floating blocks and riding up to the spot with the dispenser

2 large motorized wheels and wood are nearby

Im too stupid to figure out how to make a boat work, ended up trapped offshore and abandoned the korok in the lake

I played through the tutorial island. Yep, it's the BoTW sequel.

Beat the optional "boss" of the island. It dropped this weird looking spiky cylinder. I fused it to my shield and it looks so stupid now.

I am embarrassingly stuck at the mine cart track with a hole in it.

Can you only get helmets from amiibos? I haven't gotten any chests or legs

No, you can get whole armour sets, as well as gliders and Epona. You used to be able to get some special weapons from some in BotW, so those might be here too.
