Flinging yourself with a platform like the one shrine or making, well, stable vehicles easier. You can backload fans and rockets on wing devices or boats much easier with stabilizers, just put one on the front and no matter how much you put on one the back it'll even out.

I use them for flinging more though.

Stakes are the one thing I feel like should be more useful but I don't find ways to use them often.

King Gleeok's thunder ice storm lasts forever but he eventually stops attacking for a while and leaves the ice in position to climb and rewind, so you can deal with him "conventionally" by just avoiding the ice/lightning until he stops summoning it. Though in practice spamming arrows into his eyes before he can get up high is the easiest thing to do.

Spent the past few days just grinding stuff and I think I'm close to done with the game. Here's some quick thoughts, no spoilers.

This game generally feels like a huge chore at the end of the day. It suffers from the same problem as Red Dead Redemption 2, in that to enjoy the game you have to spend endless hours grinding for materials so you can have fun with the physics for a few brief moments before you run out of materials. The depths are a chore to navigate and the sky is barren. The ground level is mostly empty and littered with shrines that are way too easy this time around. Really wish this game cut all armor upgrade requirements by half and reduce battery usage by half.

Yea the glider and balloon disappearing had me scratching my head. I think they don't want you flying to the sky islands without the towers, but there's almost nothing up there worth flying to other than the dragons. I did max my batteries but the things I build drain them quickly.

Yeah I've not grinded a single thing and am doing completely fine. There is no need to max out armor. Enemies aside from bosses feel fine with 2 upgrades and if I'm really struggling I can just pop some +defense food.

And I've almost never run out of any kind of zonai related resource to the point I needed to actively stop using them. I say almost because it did happen twice early on, but now that I'm nearing endgame (3 dungeons done with 100 shrines completed) it's been a complete non-issue for days.

Beating the dungeons and bosses is not my point. They're designed so you can do them as casually as possible. My complaints aren't about the difficulty of the game. You have to grind materials for food buffs too >_> It's about just running around and enjoying the sandbox. Seeing how you can creatively kill moblin camps like building flying drones or monster trucks with automated turrets that annihilate. The point isn't that I struggle with killing those enemies.

You complained about how you 'don't get to have fun' unless you do all those things first. The fact is, 99% of the game isn't and doesn't require grinding for materials. Only upgrading the clothes (and a few quests) do, which is 100% unnecessary for gameplay because 2 with maybe a couple 3 star upgrades is enough. My point with saying how far I was is that I've put about 50-60 hours into the game with zero grinding, only progression and normal exploration, and never have had an issue doing whatever I want except near the beginning.

I can build "flying drones and monster trucks with automated turrets" whenever I want. I have like 500 zonaite for autobuild and 20-40 of nearly every zonaite device with zero grinding and I use them fairly regularly. I have almost 4 entire battery gauges if somehow my inventory of devices runs out of buildable batteries.

How many hours are you going to spend building random devices that this isn't enough? Why would you possibly need to grind more than this?

The whole thing you mentioned sounds like "you" problem with being impatient more than anything else. Of course you are going to get more access to things as the game goes and not right away- that's how video games work! The game is not stingy with materials in the least.

Yeah I feel like if you do the Depths at all you get way more resources than anyone would ever reasonably need. I agree with the other folks that if 1000+ Zoanite and the gachapon flood of devices somehow isn't enough for you then you should just consider reloading after you spam your toys.

Just to be clear, the Switch 100% does not count time on the home screen with the game minimized right? Like I already know this is the case but my time of 125 hours still shocks me

By far the coolest thing I've done was completing a dungeon I very much was not supposed to know existed. It seemed as intentionally difficult to find as possible in an open game like this, but once I accidentally found that weird ass chest in the sky with a weird ass mask inside it, there was no turning back.

This was like 50 hours ago. I just don't post here because I'm extremely sensitive to spoilers and consider basically everything in this game to be a spoiler lol. But yeah, I'm incredibly curious to see how the game is supposed to go after beating the 4 regional phenomena. Still so damn cool it let me play that dungeon anyway. That whole sequence was already weird and it felt way more surreal having no context whatsoever

Got curious last night before I went to bed if I could beat the game with what I had. The answer was yes.

Apparently 15 armor was enough to avoid getting one-shot (at least by the handful of attacks that hit me), so I didn't end up using any fairies.

Finished with:
3 hearts
2 and 3/5 stamina wheels
33 shrines
19 lightroots
122 koroks
0 temples visited

I did have the Master Sword, but I'm assuming it wasn't really all that necessary to use as I still had at least a few harder hitting, fused weapons in my inventory that I didn't touch.

Third dungeon, lightning dungeon, finished. Dungeon itself was pretty mediocre, basically just one tall area where you're just finding the trick or gimmick to open or access a few doors then it's done. Like, the entirety of one of one of the "puzzles" is finding a loose brick.

Lead up to it and the boss following it, however, are thoroughly excellent.

You might find it helpful to finish a main quest thing to get the rest of the unlocks. I did the Impa quest without doing that section because it's right on the edge.
