Still have one of the main dungeons to go and any MSQ that comes after, but I've got the Master Sword, all the Memories, the Sages other than Gerudo, about 120 shrines.

Ultimately, I think the game relies too much on the same trick and loses some of the magic. BOTW did this too, but it actually feels a bit worse here. Like I remember thinking how cool the first green gem puzzle was, and then I realized that every area in the sky basically repeats it. Same deal with the labyrinths and dungeons.

Also, it seems like there's too many "Blessing Shrines" where you don't even get a puzzle. Most of the time it makes sense because "getting to the shrine" was the puzzle, but there's been a few that feel like they just forgot to put a puzzle in there.

So far the story is fantastic for a Zelda game, and there has been some genuine tension/emotion in some of the cutscenes, more than anything I got from BOTW's main game (I will admit that Champion's Ballad was pretty good). Getting the Master Sword in this game is like the coolest ever.

Imagine what the dungeons would be like if the objectives weren't marked on your map. That might be too hard, but it'd make the dungeons feel a bit less checklisty. Having the same "do these 4/5 things" in every dungeon makes them feel more repetitive than they are. I generally enjoyed the dungeons, but dress it up a little differently, please. Technically all Zelda dungeons in each individual game have you doing the same things, but they feel different. This game does a better job at that than the Divine Beasts, I just think it could be better.

the cutscenes for beating each dungeon being identical is legit bad though.

Otsutsum Shrine on the middle of the western edge of the map. I just casually strolled in, since it's easily visible and accessible, and it's a Blessing?? There's a couple like this that confused me. Some that are hard to get to still have puzzles, too. Definitely confusing.

I turn off the objectives usually; I turn them on for the floating labyrinths since they're just boring otherwise, and there's been a few quests where I used them just because it seemed too time consuming such as that quest that asks you to offer bananas to the four random Yiga frogs. Most of the time I've been trying to play "pro mode-lite" where I have the map up there but no active quests going.

Anyway, all this to say I disagree that not marking the objectives in the dungeons would make them too hard. It actually makes them too easy!

The neat thing is that most quest objective markers aren't that useful. They usually mark the location of the quest-giver, not the objectives. I didn't even realize until the final labyrinth that it marked the location of the switches, haha. Guess the labyrinths and dungeons are the exception.

I found him Standing basically on the road if you began going northwest towards Rito Village after doing the main quests around Lookout Landing. After upgrading inventory I think twice he said he'd go east and he's been standing in Lookout Landing since.

Yep then it's random. I found him on a mountain getting attacked by bokoblins. He did move to Lookout Landing afterwards.

I have at least heard of others meeting him the same place as me, so maybe it's based on which of a set locations you go to first or how far you are or something like that. I think it was similar in BotW.

You might find it helpful to finish a main quest thing to get the rest of the unlocks. I did the Impa quest without doing that section because it's right on the edge.

Yeah, I actually did do that region first and then went on to beat the Wind Temple. I now see what you mean lol. Though I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything. Considering how many times I thought to myself "isn't this area way more snowy than it was in the first game" I could've probably put 2 and 2 together.

Still got lots of Hebra to explore.

I think the road to the Wind Temple is the most fun I've ever had in a Zelda game platforming, even if it was relatively simple. Boss fight was quite fun.

Yeah cooking spicy peppers work, I was mostly just curious about looting as to not have the last place I look in Hebra coincidentally be where an armor was or something. 500 rupees feels like a good bit this early tbh, but it works. One of the set pieces cost 1000 I thought that was the armor lol.

Also after beating the wind temple it seems as if some places have become colder than before? I definitely seem to recall not taking damage wandering around the tower in the area right of the NW most when wearing the pants from the tutorial area but I am now.

I've really scaled back my playing.

119 Lightroots
60ish Shrines
80ish Koroks
Still only one dungeon (wind)

I've been feeling the fatigue in a way that didn't hit me with BotW's first playthrough.

I had fatigue for a bit around the 3/4 mark, but I'm back into it. Even went crazy and cleared out the lightroots, which I hadn't been very thorough on for a while. Up to 150 Shrines and 119 Lightroots, cleared all the side adventures I had, left some of the boring side quests, just about ready to start the endgame (though I never got the fifth sage lol - I found the place where I think it is, but it's too foggy there, which I'm hoping clears up...).

Had to take a brief break because my controller died but now I've finished the game. Final area was nowhere near as good as Hyrule Castle in Breath of the Wild but the final boss was great, aside from the dragon form being kind of lame, looked cool but was awkward to actually play. Basically Dark Beast Ganon with better aesthetics but worse gameplay. Ganondorf in all his humanish phases were super cool though, definitely better than Calamity Ganon was and I liked Calamity Ganon to begin with.

Finally finished yesterday with all the lightroots and shrines. Somehow only got around 80 korok seeds because I'm really bad at spotting them. I never felt the urge to see all the shrines in BOTW, but I think the connection between the lightroots and shrines makes both more accessible without outside help.
