Like i said, I think koroks are a lot easier this game. They're not tucked away in hidden spots - they tend to be in really obvious spots. And you can see most of them by flying around after recalling a sky rock up then flying around.
I'm not even remotely a Korok hunter (like I mentioned earlier, I think I'd legitimately go insane making them any kind of priority) but so far I almost feel like I'm finding less in TotK that aren't the backpack ones. For reference I'm almost done with Central Hyrule and the Rito area and have thus far collected ~30 seeds, a solid majority of which are from backpackers. Not sure if it's whether I just don't remember what to look for (or if what to look for has changed) but I feel like by the end of BotW if I said "oh, there's probably a Korok there" it was usually true but here I usually don't find anything.

Got all the geoglyphs

Super happy I randomly decided to get the Master Sword geoglyph last. It pretty much perfectly leads into the reveal afterwards and any other geoglyph being last wouldn't be as impactful.

I feel like so far there has been some obvious spots where they could have been but weren't, but most still aren't particularly well hidden. Especially if you've already played the first. I'm at 70-something from the opening sky area and central hyrule only.

You might be able to test this by fusing a weapon while under the effects. I know if youre on your last heart when you fuse something to a Knights weapon it will reflect the buff in the numbers it shows when you fuse. Maybe it only does that for weapon-specific bonuses, though.

I think I used the pants that give cold resistance from the tutorial with a level 2 cold resistance meal, and they didn't stack, so I'm guessing you can't stack buffs, but I'm not positive.

Food and clothes stack. I have a headband on for heat resistance and just ate a heat resistance meal so now I have level 2 heat resistance.

Edit: the problem for you might just be that you ate a level 2 meal. There is no level 3 for temperature, so it wouldn't be able to stack higher

Oh, that makes more sense. I thought I read something about being able to stack stats up to 3 in BOTW (which I never played), so was confused when that didn't work. I guess the three blue ticks on the temperature meter just made me assume there were 3 levels you could get for temp. resistance too.

Those third ticks for cold and hot in the temp gauge are for when you are in freezing water or are actively on fire/in burning-hot air, respectively. Cold and Heat Protection do not protect those situations.

I've been watching out for little details on this since the prologue seeing as the Imprisoning War is something that happens in one very specific branch but there's a ton of other stuff in this world that already doesn't line up with that at all. Very funny to see after they were so cautious and ambiguous with and even following BotW's release.

Major sticking out points usually still have them. Every single bridge has one or two. Tops of mountains and such have them. Lots of water has them in some way. Any sort of tunnel usually has them.

At the very least, you can usually spot the stuff from a distance.

Honestly it borderline contradicts with BotW itself, with how thoroughly it's erased any mention of the champions and divine beasts, for example. And Kass =( sans for some Penn dialog which indirectly references him like he's ancient history or something

I agree, there have always been retcons and stuff but nothing on a scale with what TOTK seems to do.

I feel there are really only two solutions:

1) Multiple Imprisoning Wars, which has its own issues because Rauru is the first king of Hyrule which means it is pre-Minish Cap yet Ganondorfs turned up.

2) The previous games are legend versions and TOTK is showing the real events. The broad strokes of the earlier games happened but not the details.

The simplest way of explaining all of the inconsistencies that TOTK introduces is to say that it and BOTW are in a new continuity. Of course none of these inconsistencies were in BOTW, and Nintendo had states that BOTW was in the same continuity and BOTW has all these hints about the previous games in it, that seems unlikely.

I think whats happened is, BOTW and TOTK are set so far ahead that the previous timeline doesnt matter at all and the Hyrule that Rauru founds is an entirely new one on top of the old Hyrule. So the timeline continues to exist but the storyline that starts with BOTW is basically saying dont worry about it.

It makes me wonder if this is effectively a soft reboot and future games will follow this. I imagine they will probably do a new 2D game next so it will be interesting to see where that goes.

There were always inconsistencies but nothing on a level with what TOTK introduces. They also retconned in a whole new timeline branch to resolve some of those inconsistencies so I think they cared! Apparently according to Aonuma Miyamoto cares a lot about it. When you look at the way they were approaching things post-Twilight Princess pre-Breath of the Wild, each of those games clearly has a timeline placement, Skyward Sword was advertised as the origin story and so on. Then with Breath of the Wild and this game they have gone nah never mind while also still keeping all those connections in.

I have not finished the game but Im going to guess right now that at least the next big 3D Zelda will be a sequel to this game and this is the new timeline going forward.

They're a fantastic idea, and I like their uses. But I think they could be implemented more elegantly. I've done Rito/Goron/Gerudo so far. The Rito one is great, because it automatically pops up whenever you're using the paraglider. Having to select the other two manually is sometimes a huge pain in the middle of combat.

I don't think so? At least, I haven't seen anything to suggest so. My understanding of the timeline is currently:

Rauru and Sophia found (this version of) Hyrule > The Sheikah develop Hyrule into an advanced civilisation and build the guardians and divine beasts > Calamity Ganon escapes for the first time and is sealed by Zelda's ancestor > 10,000 years later Calamity Ganon escapes again > 100 years later BotW happens > 3ish years later TotK happens

Regarding the bigger timeline, I'm happy to accept that all of the above happens after every other game and that it's just been so long that no one remembers the old Hyrules before Rauru's. Except Ganondorf, who should, I guess? Unless he's a reincarnation this time and hasn't been resurrected.

I wonder if there was supposed to be more to the Voe and You class, it doesn't count as a quest in the log and gives no rewards but there are multiple goals that require some sort of effort to accomplish. Or maybe some other quest needs to be completed first before it can advance any further.

I'm at the point where I'm starting to resent how full the game is

I think I'm probably going to stop doing sign guy and separated korok quests. Getting a bit tiresome!

I also think the game is abusing proving ground shrines. It was fun in BoTW cause it was special, not because it was in every fifth shrine

game is still fantastic, but it feels a bit more repetitive than BoTW did

I've seen and used the version with the fans attached to the sides of the steering stick and it works well enough, but this version is so much smoother. It takes a bit of trial and error to get it lined up perfectly so there's no drift but it's highly worth it.

I'm surprised how easy it was to get it (though I was spoiled and knew that Zelda had it in her possession, but I didn't know that finding all of the memories would get her to show up). I've made some real progress over the weekend (mainly filling out the map and exploring the depths a bit) and completed the Gerudo and Rito temples. I personally enjoyed the Rito dungeon and boss + music a lot more than the Gerudo's, though the former's boss was a bit of a joke and didn't even hit me once. Still, it's probably the closest the game's come to giving me the same kind of chills/excitement I felt during some of BotW's segments, e.g. the Vah Ruta approach.

Yeah, I know, it's just that finding them all summoned her to that spot and made it easy to get to her as a result. I'm glad I'd been focusing on stamina. With that being said, I finished up the Zora dungeon just a while ago. The boss was pathetically easy until the halfway point, then it just because a major annoyance until I realized I could just jump and use bullet time arrows to continue to spam chu jellies and bombs at it like I had been in the first half and ignore all of the sludge. It took me by surprise when it did a huge attack that took out all six of my hearts in one hit, too, but thankfully I'd found an island in the sky earlier on with fairies and shrugged it off thanks to them. I should probably look into trying to upgrade my defense and get some more hearts, because I'm running around with a total of seven now and almost any enemy that isn't a complete bottom-of-the-barrel weakling is still one shotting me (or in some cases, coming very, very close). All I have left of the four phenomena is Goron City, so we'll see how that goes. I heard it's fairly easy, at least.

So after finishing three dungeons, I can assume a lot of people who wanted traditional, longer dungeons back aren't thrilled with this game. I actually liked how BotW did them, so I'm fine with TotK's take on them, too.

I'm pretty sure that's how it ended up with me in BotW. Once I got tired of wandering I mainlined it to the end and that was that. No way I was going to get every last shrine, much less all the Korok seeds. I had my experience. I do wonder how much there being no achievements/trophies helps with the "play until you're satisfied" mindset.

Still nowhere near that point in TotK yet. I'm still just going wherever and getting distracted by a bunch of different things. I've been to Kakariko and Hateno but have touched almost nothing of the main missions. Certainly haven't discovered any dungeons yet.

I did finally run across an actual side mission/quest (4 eyes) in the underworld/chasm area. I had spent quite a bit of time down there just activating Lightroots without really discovering any good reason to do so.
