I probably need to find a new hat. I'm just using the the one from the Hateno questline, which...is not really my aesthetic

I've been using the Champion's Tunic, the Soldier's helm, and the Fierce Deity Pants (spoiler for giant tree stump)

Was eventually forced to get a shirt because the gerudo refused to let me in without one.

So I'm a bit confused l. I found a named sword from a treasure map. Is this sword also going to break? Can I fuse on to it? I don't exactly want to try to break it to check but the internet is not giving me a clear answer

If its truly unique, there is probably a method somewhere in the game to make or buy another now that youve obtained it. Thats how it was in the first game.

yeah if there were unbreakable weapons in this game I'm sure the internet would've been more vocal about it by now

You can get those from amiibos too. They're definitely breakable and fuseable

I went a long time using a Yiga Clan mask I found before getting any other headgear, and most of the major characters had an extra line of dialogue whenever I talked to them reprimanding me for wearing it. Wonder what other costume-specific lines there are.

Got to the area where Zelda made a bunch of guys run around in their underwear.

That's one way to make up for spending 100 years in spirit form...

Yeah, this is the sword from the original Zelda you get from the classic Link Amiibo (it used to be called just 'Sword' in BotW). It's mostly just to give people who don't have Amiibos a chance to get those weapons. There's a merchant for Amiibo armour, but I haven't seen anyone selling the weapons yet. Apparently there's a guy in Tarrey Town who might, but I haven't been there yet to confirm.

That boss was very cool but also kind of disappointingly easy. didnt take damage at all

I'm really glad Recall has long range, it's saved my ass a lot when I'm building something and then a part falls off a cliff or something goes wrong

Oops, I stumbled on something that turned out to be a main quest I probably shouldn't have done yet. That was really cool.

I found Dragonhead island, got to the shrine, and did everything that follows. I now have another Sage.

They really expect you to do all the side quests in Lookout Landing before setting out properly, I have discovered in hindsight.

I haven't had as much time to play as I'd like due to working overtime this last week, but I managed to make my way through the thunder dungeon last night. I'm trying to pay this with as little information as possible, but I get the feeling that wasn't the best dungeon to start with - I was getting one shot (or very close to it) by nearly everything in it and probably died at least ten times. I think I'm going to try to do some actual exploration now and beef Link up a bit, since I really haven't done much of that yet (I basically sped through the opening island, then made my way to Gerudo Town after unlocking the mission that directs you to four areas to investigate). I feel like I'm having more problems with controls than BotW, too, but that's my only real complaint so far, and it's also been six years, so who knows what I've forgotten since then. I wouldn't be surprised if there are things to unlock that make some things a bit less frustrating, too, but again, I'm trying to play with as little outside knowledge as possible, so who knows if or when I'll get them.

I also finally remembered to scan the four Zelda amiibos I own (Ganondorf, Sheik, BotW Zelda, and Mipha) and was a little amused that the only two that gave me unique items were the non-BotW ones (Ganondorf and Sheik gave me a glider skin, though I was greatly amused by the sheer variety of fish it piled on me for Mipha's).

Oh, and I was let down by GameStop at launch - my store decided to have a midnight launch in the week before the game released, and while I really messed up my sleep schedule to try to get there and get the preorder bonus plaque, it was packed wall to wall (and this is a small town store, of all places) and I gave up on waiting for hours to get through the line. Naturally, they ran out before everyone got through, anyway, or at least that's what I was told when I went to pick my copy up the next morning (when there was also at least 20+ people waiting at the door). I had a gift card from Christmas, so I probably would've gotten it from them, regardless, but they were the only store that had that bonus, so I'm just a little disappointed that they changed the launch time with almost no warning and I lost my chance to get it.

I think my next goal needs to be exploring some sky shit. I'm gonna try and do exploring during weekdays after work then each weekend will be one of the main quests

i've been exploring the sky islands a little bit but I get really confused about places I have or haven't visited yet. gonna need hero's path before I really sink my teeth in up there.

I've barely messed with Hero's Path but it seems so amazing

Yup, after the first temple is done the Hateno Village science lab will open up and give you quests for the Hero's Path and the upgraded shrine sensor, and activate the basic sensor

As someone who disliked breath of the wild, I'm really enjoying this. My biggest complaint about the game being so empty has seemingly been solved (so far, only about to enter the first dungeon)

Do Josha's depth quest and find the "dungeon" by following the statues. Talk to the old guy next to Josha when you return and then you just need to go to his lab near Hateno.

I loved Hero's Path - used it extensively in the first game. Without it, I just use stamps to outline the parts of the map I've yet to explore. Hero's Path makes it less clearly segmented but more accurate for where I've been.

I'll have to decide if I want it or not...

I actually thought the deleted post was more accurate :p. I did the depths quest, but haven't gone to Hateno yet. Might do that next, or might go to Gerudo Town.

I just spent half an hour tearing my hair out trying to find the weapon expansion guy going to exactly where guides said he would be.

Turns out if you get far enough in the game he isn't there any more and guides are wrong. Annoying

It definitely feels like there is more stuff to do now.

I'm not 100% sure how I feel about the world because while there's more stuff, there's a lot more of the copy/paste design you see in other open world games. In BotW, this was mostly limited to Koroks and the Test of Strength shrines.

So I'm doing some exploring after beating my first dungeon and I think I might have went into the wrong cave...

The damn hands were bad enough and took me by surprise, and Riju's avatar was being uncooperative as usual and refused to stay near me, so they killed me. I only managed to kill them the second time around after climbing up a cliff and zapping them a few times with her power. I haven't tried to fight it yet, should I go elsewhere for now? Update: I tried to be extra careful and fight it, but as usual, my fumbling of the controls led to Link eventually turning around instead of flipping and he got spanked on the behind by a sword and died in one hit. I don't know if it's just the fact that I'm using Joy-cons or what, but I still struggle with getting Link to do what I want at times.

They're not a unique enemy or anything, if that's what you're asking. They show up in a few places. They're decently strong though, especially if you don't have any food or elixirs that can heal gloom damage, so up to you whether you think you're able to beat it.

After a lot of trial and error, I finally managed to get onto the sky island above Eventide. That was fun.

The hands are tougher than Phantom Ganon imo. Try to have some gloom recovery (cook sundelions) or gloom defense armor.
