I'm pretty sure that's how it ended up with me in BotW. Once I got tired of wandering I mainlined it to the end and that was that. No way I was going to get every last shrine, much less all the Korok seeds. I had my experience. I do wonder how much there being no achievements/trophies helps with the "play until you're satisfied" mindset.

Still nowhere near that point in TotK yet. I'm still just going wherever and getting distracted by a bunch of different things. I've been to Kakariko and Hateno but have touched almost nothing of the main missions. Certainly haven't discovered any dungeons yet.

I did finally run across an actual side mission/quest (4 eyes) in the underworld/chasm area. I had spent quite a bit of time down there just activating Lightroots without really discovering any good reason to do so.
