Oh maybe I misinterpreted what you meant because I have 1 dungeon and 50 shrines done and thought I hadn't seen it yet haha

I have not even left Hyrule Field and I've encountered it in two places. One of those times was just dealing with floormasters spawning in the overworld.

All the "dungeon names" mentioned are pretty much given to you as soon as you get out of the beginning tutorial area.

Not gonna lie, I kind of wish I could use motion control for sword swings. Not to the fidelity of SS but the simpler TP style would be nice. Maybe its just me having just replayed SS and tending to play with separated joy-cons but I miss the waggle

I really like how dumb some of weapons enemies use are. I just picked up a spear with a cooked fish fused to it.

After a somewhat lackluster opening (I was lukewarm toward the tutorial area), good ol' exploration and discovery around Hyrule is winning me back. I can already tell that there's much more verticality than in BotW even on mainland Hyrule, with caves and wells dotting the landscape. Stumbling on the Climbing Gear this early on got me really pumped.

I went into this game with the goal of beating a Yiga clan member over the head with bananas on a stick until they die.

I don't even know if they are in the game yet but if they are it will happen.

Heads up for cave exploration completion: the checkmark appears when you kill the frog. There may still be a chest with unique gear in the cave after that point, so be thorough

Also, closing the book on central Hyrule field at 80 koroks. Onto the next zone!

Rito dungeon - fine
Goron dungeon - excellent (though sometimes frustrating)

Shame the Goron power isn't that great...

This game still has the breath of the wild feel of "Hey, that's a sword shapes peninsula. That's rad. Let's go over there."

Zora Dungeon beated

For anyone that has beaten it, can you tell me how you approached that final lock with the spinning building hiding a switch inside? I shot an arrow at it until it went through. Was wondering if there was supposed to be an easier way.

I've been staring at what I assume is a korok puzzle near the dueling peaks stable for like 30 minutes unsure what they want me to do. It's a cork plug stuck in a tree stump in the water attached by chain to another floating cork plug. You can move the floating one with ultra hand but not the stuck one. I tried attaching a rocket to the loose one thinking maybe it would pull them both up, but instead the rocket just disconnected.

Just found the solution and the thing I tried absolutely should work and it's stupid that it doesn't. What you are supposed to do is submerge the loose end as far as possible and let go, it will fly up quickly and pull the other end out.

Does every single lightroot have a shrine above it?

Also does every single land shrine have a lightroot below it? Do the sky shrines have lightroots below too...?

Im almost sure every Lightroot is underneath a shrine, and the lightroot names are all the names of the corresponding shrine backwards.

Ive found at least one shrine so far by marking the location on my map from the lightroot below.

It looks like every land shrine probably does have its own lightroot, but not the sky shrines. Ive uncovered like seven connecting lightroots underground and dont see any shrines above ground in the area that arent connected to a root.

but there are sky shrines above the area without a lightroot, so yeah. I dont think the sky shrine locations relate to anything going on below.

Doing eventide island with 5 hearts was a decision.

The good news is the normal mobs only do 4.5 hearts of damage each attack!

Havent had the time to play as much this weekend as I wanted, but TotK had a massive launch in the UK becoming the fastest selling Zelda and fastest selling game of the year so far topping Hogwarts Legacy by 1.5x. Also didn't realize SSHD outsold SS, haha. Unbelievable that it sold so poorly on the Wii. They really mismanaged that.

The original was a big seller worldwide but the NES was not huge in the UK, took a long time to launch and did not dominate the way it did elsewhere due to the popularity of computer games opposed to video game consoles. So it could be but hard to say.

As for Skyward Sword its the same thing as Majoras Mask which sold less than the 3DS version. Released at the end of a consoles life cycle right before software sales fell off a cliff. The original Skyward Sword launch was big, but legs were terrible. I think hardware availability was also a factor. Plus Zelda is just a much bigger franchise now than it used to be.

Is the Southeast part of the map supposed to always be rainy? Can't change the weather with resting and can't reach the Skyview tower as a result. Guess I have to find a shrine for fast travel instead.

you can definitely reach that tower without doing anything about the weather

If this is the Wetlands tower, you can do it while its raining. But also rarely it does stop raining

Got my sword back and beat the Rito dungeon. Was pretty decent, if a little short. New ability is neat too.

so apparently there's this thing where the game no longer one shots you if you're at full health and have more than three hearts because this keeps happening to me

I guess it's kind but also I don't remember this being in the original

Im pretty sure I got one-shotted by a talus throwing a boulder at me but maybe Imm wrong

If you have full health you survived one-shots with a quarter heart in the first one too. There were some exceptions if the amount of damage was too high, like from Guardians or Lynels. Also you can still die in one hit if you get sent flying from the hit and take damage from hitting the ground or rolling too long

also the fact that I didn't even do dungeons at all until the very end

My favorite weapon at this point has just been a diamond fused to the tip of a spear seems like it lasted me a while

My trip to eventide island got me a lightning spear with something like 22 attack and an ice dagger with 20 attack

Both of those status elements are pretty OP. Went back and creamed some of the early camps with them

Dang I underestimated the majesty of Links Crossbow Training. Otherwise I was right on about those three! From the tweet I guess ALBW is now #11 and looking at the other table in the article SSHD and Spirit Tracks are likely right below. I would also estimate that MM3D is probably rounding out the top 15.

Kinda wild that in a little while Ocarina of Time will no longer be a top 3 best selling Zelda game. It seemed unbeatable for so long!

Phantom Ganon was so easy. I think his AI was busted. i just shielded his arrows and wailed on him. He kept teleporting to the same place and just doing the same thing

Having a really good time with this. I like the new abilities a lot; though, Ultrahand took a little getting used to. The Depths is probably my favorite part of the game so far, but I'm liking a lot with the Overworld. I wish I got to go to the Sky more often; it's easily the part I forget about the most.

Just finished the Rito area. Dungeon was OK. Kinda short. I was actually a big fan of the Divine Beasts and I think I prefer the bird. I liked the trek up to the dungeon, though. New ability seems neat; I rarely need to go vertical and have more interest going horizontal at this point.

Probably heading to Gerudos next, but I'm way more interested in the Hylian towns like Hateno Village, Lurelin Village, Tarrey Town, and Kakariko.

maybe? But not at least visiting Lookout Landjng (which has a store with a shirt) to get the paraglider seems like a real bad way to play the game.
