I think it's fine if people don't like it. I get dopamine from game, they don't, it's not like any argument is going to do anything. I've never enjoyed a game less from someone telling me that it sucks, because it doesn't work that way.

Whenever I read people saying "x media sucks" I infer that they're trying to communicate that they don't enjoy it rather than the normal discussion of how we as a group should feel about things that are objectively good or bad. I'm more annoyed by people who treat it like politics and attack the other side as if they've made some logical mistake, or that they have some other motive other than expressing their taste in media.

Vehicle crafting sounds good but I feel like you'll run out of resources fast that way. I haven't really used any horses since it's a pain to get to most stables even with fast travel. They should have put fast travel points inside the actual cities and stables.

Yeah that's true, I didn't really use horses that much in BotW. Most of the time if I wanted to go somewhere, I would just climb over whatever was in my way. If your horse was like Torrent in Elden Ring where you can just call it wherever whenever I would ride horses way more.

Nor did I. It crossed my mind that I should get it and replay BotW, since I haven't played it since I first beat it back when it came out and I would like to play the DLC, but with TotK so close and probably going to be a day one buy, I probably won't. More so where I've still got some of Nier Automata left that I would like to finish before starting anything else, I'm thoroughly re-addicted to Factorio, and if I'm replaying anything, it's going to be Xenoblade 3 in hopes of fitting a NG+ playthrough with DLC in before the final DLC comes out. A BotW playthrough isn't exactly high on the list, unfortunately.

I'm honestly not expecting a whole lot from the vehicle crafting as far as my actual gameplay experience goes, but I'm really looking forward to the shenanigans that will inevitably make their way to youtube. BotW already had more than its fair share of stupid videos like that, and I'm fully expecting this to dial them up to 11.

I assume that's the Lord of the Mountain. I didn't have enough stamina when I attempted to capture it. I didn't even know it existed. I was fast traveling in between Dueling Peaks stable and the shrine on that mountain trying to trigger the blood moon to unlock the shrine that was across from that one. Just happened to see a weird glowing light all of a sudden.

I have max stamina now so I'll attempt it later tonight.

I haven't met a single person not excited about Tears, let alone bitching about it/calling it DLC. Which is especially odd, considering all of the plot and a huge chunk of the game mechanics and everything is still a mystery, one which I assume a final direct will shine more light on.

Then again, I don't visit the wretched hive that are the system and game boards.

@CyborgSage00x0 Well now you've met one. I'm not interested in Tears in the least bit. It looks too much like BotW 2 from what I've seen, and that was my least favorite Zelda game of all time (MM, WW, LA, and Minish Cap being my favorites). I don't want another BotW, so I'll definitely pass on this one if it turns out to be more like that game. The game mechanics, stamina system, and lack of direction annoyed me so much. BotW is one of those "where the fuck do I go" games.

BotW is one of those "where the f*** do I go" games.

The main story objectives were clearly indicated on the map at all times, and you could very reliably find new shrines to go explore by climbing to a high place and looking around. It was more open-ended than most Zelda games, certainly, but it really wasn't hard to find stuff to do or figure out where you needed to go.

Everyone beat me to it, but yeah, storywise you can literally beat the temples in just a few hours from turning the game on, and/or fight Ganon immediately. The story objectives are never a mystery. Everything else, though? Well, that's par for the course of an open world "go explore and have your own fun", which fit in with the theme of a ruined, nature-took-over Hyrule. I myself would like more Zelda-like dungeons and a larger story arc this time around, but BotW was easy to follow.

Yeah, there's nothing wrong with preferring a more linear Zelda experience in line with the traditional formulas over BotW's open-world approach, but BotW definitely doesn't suffer from not giving you any indication of where to go.

Its tough

On one hand, weapons that break in 4 hits sucks.

But on the other, if they didnt break that fast youd be loaded up on a billion of the same twigs and spears you find absolutely everywhere. Or theyd have to hide the games only 40 weapons throughout a world the size of Asia.

If they want to keep durability, just increase it a ton so that weapons break after 30 swings instead of 3.

It doesn't tell you where to go with map markers half of the time. The map marker will stay on the quest giver instead of where you need to go.

Revelation34 posted...

There are plenty of Any% speedruns out there under 25 minutes, let alone a few hours. Those do, of course, make extensive use of glitches to skip content and zoom around the map far faster than would be possible normally, but as far as weapons go those runners just use what they can grab on the way through the castle. Even if you aren't breaking the game in half like speedrunners do, it's perfectly possible to beat the game as fast as he suggested.

So I have a theory, Im most likely wrong, but it kind of sort of explains why the timeline is so wonky. So in Skyward Sword, they keep talking about the ancient past, and the last time Demise was around, and the last time the goddess walked the earth and all of that. So what if time is circular and BotW/TotK are both the beginning and end of the timeline. So when they talk about the ancient past, theyre also talking about their far off future, which is TotK. Its probably wrong, but Demise coming back is interesting.

Especially seemingly having both Demise and Ganondorf, when SS all but explicitly said that they're the same entity. Personally, I'm inclined to just go with "they make up whatever timeline they need to shore up the story they want to tell." The official position was that there was no timeline outside of the direct sequels, right up until they decided they could make money knitting one together to sell Hyrule Historia, so I don't think there's actually any plan to establish and maintain a consistent canon.

It kinda makes sense. A trailer that aims to showcase the story in an exciting way is going to be more informative and exciting than a showcase of a couple new game mechanics that's specifically designed to avoid indicating anything about the story. This is indeed a particularly dense trailer, though.

IIRC, they said there IS an official canon timeline in file folders, but it's a secret, and did likely come about from fans speculating of a timeline. The breakdown generally makes sense, but I guess it'll depend on the explanation of how Ganondorf is alive again.
