The main story objectives were clearly indicated on the map at all times, and you could very reliably find new shrines to go explore by climbing to a high place and looking around. It was more open-ended than most Zelda games, certainly, but it really wasn't hard to find stuff to do or figure out where you needed to go. --- This is my signature.
