26. Ragdoll (Peter Merkel, Jr.)

Ragdoll is a member of the Secret Six. When the group was first encountered, it had Catman, Deadshot, and Cheshire, from campaign 1. Fiddler, who was a recognizable villain. And then Ragdoll and Scandal Savage, two who may have been completely new to most of us all. While people were excited to see old favorites return in the first three, we were also all excited to see these new ones and get to know them.

Well, Fiddler died pretty quickly, sacrificing himself to hold off Cheshire who betrayed the group, so there went two.

Anyway, Ragdoll was perhaps the most mercurial of the bunch. The most mysterious. The most... honestly, after speaking with him twice, you learn he is very upfront about who he is. Yeah, he's a villain. Yeah, he has like, missing joints so he is capable of bending in all sorts of ways and is a master of knives. Yeah, he likes getting hurt.

He likes getting hurt.

A lot.

It'd be discomforting if it wasn't funny. Ragdoll being so genuine really makes him stick out in a way that put him front and center of the Six early on. The guy is clear about who he wants to kill (his family), what he needs from Mockingbird (meds for his joints), what he likes (getting hurt and maimed), and he doesn't mince words. He prefers to be minced instead.

Ragdoll has some depth, but a lot of that was seen earlier on, and since then he's been mostly comic relief and caretaker to the Parademon that the Six captured to welcome to their number. In that since, he's almost adorable - the most caring of the Six. Perhaps the most friendly. Not the most handsome, but you can't be Catman.

I expect us to get some more Ragdoll as Secret Six stuff gets done, but for now, I'll be satisfied with everything he has been and is.

I honestly didn't think that he'd make the list! Ragdoll is another almost-Opalite on this list, too. For me, Ragdoll is the mouthpiece for the team in a way that no other member can be, simply because he doesn't care enough to get invested in an argument with any other character around Z'onn Z'orr. There's no fun in that - although he may argue with Spirit about hacking off his own arm. That's a point of contention for him.

I'm going to keep guessing him until I can't no more - Jaime.

If the next one ranked is not Jaime, then I'll make sure Jaime fits every hint going forward until he is ranked (unless he's not ranked at all).

25. Parademon (K'Ray)

The Parademon is a Parademon of Darkseid's army. At some point, the Secret Six were requested by Mockingbird to capture one. So the party helped, and this is the oaf we ended up with.

Parademon is raucous. He's raunchy. He has little to no filter. He is very much influenced by the mental conditioning he was put through by Darkseid, but with his antennae broken, he's been able to find some semblance of freedom. He is growing to like that!

Somehow, Parademon is cheerful and kind of happy. He will yell a lot and laugh at many things... things it is not appropriate to laugh at (such as someone's appearance), things that are very not okay to say, but through it all, he's infectious. It's like you have this oaf who would normally be awful to deal with except he's so fun and you can't be mad at him so you just go along with the ride.

K'Ray also has a dark past - we're learning that these Parademon armies are coming from alternate Earths. So this poor guy was just picked up and turned into a soldier for Darkseid against his will. He recently asked for help finding a friend of his from the Parademons, so that maybe we can help that friend experience the same freedom K'Ray has.

He's a lot of fun, and holds a nice place in the heart.

24. Scandal Savage

Scandal Savage is the daughter of Vandal Savage. Vandal is also like, the first man. So Scandal got half her genetic material from a side that did not experience millennia of evolution. She is often teased for this.

Scandal is cutthroat. She is a killer, with her lamentation blades, and she doesn't give a care that she is. She will fight her ass off, to the death, and have no qualms about it. She is just flat-out cool like that.

Another thing about Scandal is that she's a schemer. True, in the Secret Six, she works in a group that serves Mockingbird, but for the purpose of finding her father, whom she hates. But aside from that, she's the one that's hooked up. She is the Secret Six's liaison to Checkmate, attending debriefings and providing a much needed, as said, cutthroat point of view. No sentimentality. And that's something that we need at times, given the heroes we harbor.

She is also trying to work with Minerva (Wickle), the princess of Tritonis who is making a ploy to take the throne of Atlantis. After all, a good Queen needs a strong advisor, and Scandal is settling herself for that position. This was a great pairing that took place early on, though Minerva has been veering away a little bit. I like getting to see Scandal in these moments because she's not just being a fighter or a killer, but being smart, and seeing the big picture. These moments give way to show how she is like her father, and show what she's learned and what she brings that's unique to the table.

Out of all of the Six, Scandal sits with me as my current favorite. I think part of that is because she is so new, but also because she's so compelling. She isn't always wearing a mask, but when she does, you just get caught by that glint of mystery, and wonder what she's thinking... or more importantly, how many steps ahead she is thinking.

Scandal and Catman are equals for me in how excited I am to roleplay them with the party - I think the two of them provide a savage, visceral edge necessary to the campaign and the player's thoughts.

My guess on this one is Pixie as well.

Pirate is a rabbit inside of a robotic suit.

Poor Pirate has been experimented on in some way and put into a small metal suit where he exists, forced into live in a symbiotic attachment to it. Wires are attached to his brain. This poor rabbit, taken advantage of, was found in West Virginia. There were Society members looking for him. Luckily, he has claws and helped tear some of them to pieces.

We rescued Pirate and took him home. Pirate's suit allows him to speak!

"Pirate. Soldier? Are soldier good?" asks Pirate.

Pirate has low intelligence, but can process our language to him. It results in some very adorable interactions. He's just the cutest with all of his innocence.

I don't think there is a character that just inspires the sort of awe that Pirate has. Additionally, Pirate is responsible for one of the best memes of our group.

"Run! Fast! Wood stick! In ground? Why? To eat."

Now, eating is always "To eat".

Pirate is just so fucking cute.

22. Susie Tompkins

There is not a character that Scar voices outside of canon more than Susie. It is mostly because War starts cracking up, and as long as Scar keeps doing it, War does not stop laughing. Ever. It's like a drug. Scar is a drug pusher and War is a helpless addict and Susie's voice is crack cocaine. Susie is perhaps the second best child character that Scar has done. And Scar thinks that Susie is so much fun to do.

So Susie is a psychopath. She has psychic abilities and got a hold of Mento's helmet. This allowed her abilities to be magnified to the millions. She took over a city. She saw into everyone's memories and lives. She controlled people. She created cartoons to help run her city. The party had to fight Space Ghost. She ate ice cream for dinner every night.

During the sessions, Susie put the PC's into nightmare worlds. Brennus got put into a sitcom where his mom and dad lived with him, and the Spectre kept showing up to kill him. At one point, Alice showed up as his girlfriend. Brennus doesn't want a girlfriend.

Anyway, Susie got taken back to Z'onn Z'orr and was functionally broken because she lived millions of lifetimes vicariously through people. She watched the Anti-Life Equation without being affected by it. And now she lost the helmet, and was just a broken girl. Then Roz'etta (War's PC who is a Saturnian) adopted her.

Susie decided this was fine. Roz'etta was willing to accept her when no one else would. Susie was different, Roz'etta was different. Roz'etta worships Death and Susie was down for that as well. During the course of their family time, Roz'etta has decided that Jesse Custer, from Preacher, would be a great one to teach her about religion, and that Catman would be a great choice to teach her to be an assassin.

Susie is 8.

Anyway, Susie is kind of creepy and weird, and I took a minute to warm up to her. But then the party decided she could join them in the field in Las Vegas, infiltrating the Society there in hostile territory.

Anyway, Susie did a very good job. She got some kills in, controlled some minds, and used her powers to help the party succeed.

Literally, right now as I'm typing this, there is an RP scene going on where Susie found Bloodfruit(Johnbobb's character) sneaking into Pepper (Vis's character)'s room, and Susie is holding a gun up to Bloodfruit, trying to arrest her. Can't make this shit up.

Susie is adorable at times. Her childhood was basically annihilated a million times over, but she still shows some elements of being a child - she likes cats. She worships Death along with Roz'etta. She thinks that people should die, and one time when Saoirse passed out, Susie got mad at her because she was just "lying about being dead". Susie will also completely make things awkward. Saoirse can take Lush (Scare's character) and pull her away and Susie will just say "They're going to have sex." She has also said things like "I saw Mommy having sex", by which she means she looked into memories. Susie has seen some shit. A lot of shit.

Because Scar breaks into Susie voice so often, there are so many lines done in her voice that are heard. We got a meme where Susie got lost in Vegas and said she was at a payphone telling Roz'etta to "Pick me up!" and Scar jokingly guilted War for losing his RPG daughter for weeks (which did happen in the campaign in Vegas). There was another character we were calling Uptup who Susie thought was replacing her and Susie kept demanding that they "Kill Uptup now!"

There are just constant and endless lines from Susie. She is on one hand such an intensely tragic character. Her mom didn't know how to deal with her, and the relatives she was left with didn't want her. She's never been wanted before Roz'etta. Only Aunt Lois and Uncle Clark were of much care to her. And Clark's Equated...

And Susie has become such a comedy character that it's hard not to love her.

Susie has really grown on me and is just nothing but constant hits. Oh, and now she has a bloody Martian Manhunter doll that was found on a child's corpse and she fills it with Chocos that she pulls out and eats...

Okay so Susie is really fucked up.

Susie is definitely one of my personal favorites in the campaign. Good for a minor 1940s supporting character.

Oh, and for my guess... Jaime! Except he has a last name. So I guess... Pixie!

Really though, Susie's just the best. A really twisted, but sweet character that fits well into the 'fixing the broken world' that is the campaign. She's messed up, but she's a kid who should get an honest chance.

V has made only a couple of appearances, but held such gravitas in them that he earned a high spot on this list. From his first, he just threw down an absolute word salad of words starting with the letter V. When Scar voices V, he's very flowy, moving from one verb through the next, piecing together phrases like a symphony of sound with little friction along the way.

Our arrival in London was met with a Big Brother-esque situation, with a government enacting total control on its people in order to keep them controlled while using Scotland and Ireland as shields to fend off the alien invaders. V represents the anti-thesis of this - absolute anarchy in a ploy to free the people from unchecked tyranny. He's charismatic, and very clearly is focused on the people, but also satisfied blowing up national monuments. This has led to some wild scenarios so far.

V has a lot of mystery surrounding his past (as many people know), and his version of anarchy might not be our endgame, but he's an ally in a cool location that always garners revisits.

I wish there were more to say about V at this point, but his voice is just so tremendous that it's enough to place him high on that alone.

Hint for 20: This character has acquired something(s) during this campaign to increase their personal strength and/or abilities. (For example: Freddy has acquired powers through gods. Somebody who began the campaign with something extra, like Susie, would not qualify)

V has been great. London has been built so well that even with V being so good there is reason to consider the other two factions which in theory have clearer black and white qualities to each. We left London last time with a true split on which was to ally with and it was a really great characters moment I think to have that hashed out. We don't get that without V.

And wow you really did just try to make Jaime a valid guess for everything
