Nocturna is just a shadowy girl. Very fashionable. Likes scarves. She was our enemy in Opal City, then ended up coming with us in Platinum Flats. It was sort of a Thinker deal - she betrayed Society so she needed place. So she became our first Suicide Squad member!

Pretty cool. Total badass. Owes me a scarf.

15. Brother Eye

One of the biggest things in this campaign is the presence of OMAC's, flying blue cyborgs that take over people with nano-tech, like an infection, and convert them to being part of an army for Simon Hurt, who has pledged them to assist Darkseid. The OMAC's are under the guidance of an AI called Mother Miracle, and they are a very big deal. Tough to deal with. They take over everything - rats, dogs, Manhunter's ex-husband - simply terrible. Ah, terrible.

During the course of our dealings with OMAC's, we gained contact with a being known as Brother Eye. Brother Eye appeared to be some sort of AI that was a part of the OMAC system, and during Brother's Eye burgeoning intelligence, determined that alliance with Darkside was not fruitful for the propagation of his OMAC species. So he began a dangerous liaison with the party and Checkmate - assist Brother Eye, he'll provide what assistance he can back. Keep him secret, and perhaps, with time, we could take down Mother Miracle and instill Brother Eye as the head of the OMAC's. A tall order. But compared to some of the other issues this campaign, relatively small.

OMAC's have a way of just being anywhere. Oh, this random police officer? They're an OMAC sleeper agent. The party members at the start of the campaign? OMAC sleeper agents (we fixed it). This robot dog? OMAC sleeper agent. Through some of these, some knowledgeable about Brother Eye and some not, he has managed to contact us time and time again. Through those interactions, we have perhaps begun a process - slow, maybe unsuccessful so far, of trying to influence his development. Either way, he's been an uneasy ally, but there's something very alluring about having to work with an AI who wants to keep alive his OMAC's - the very things being used to tear Gotham apart.

Brother Eye has been one of those mysteries we've been attached to for a portion of the campaign. He keeps coming back, always making sure we know about him, and is leading us on a plotline that is just fascinating as it is depressing. Will Brother Eye turn out to be a positive ally? Or will this just be another form of enemy? Only time can tell.

14. Crazy Shy Lolita Canary

Ooohh I am so excited to make it so high on your list but oh no I am just too shy to be seen here by all these people, ooh, it just makes me so crazy.

Crazy Shy Lolita Canary is a member of the Super Young Team, a superteam based out of Japan. Shy Crazy Lolita Canary is a member who is supposedly genetically designed by committee to be the perfect marketable and trending hero. She is both crazy and shy, and also lolita, and designed similar to Black Canary? which are apparently metrics that land very well with men ages 20-50. From the get-go, she was this incredibly alien figure who was also supposedly a superhero.

I mean, she's small. She's the size of a bird. And she can fly. That's basically it. But she ran her own brand and superstore. When we arrived in Tokyo, she quickly attached to us, and invited us to her store, which we went to. Her store exploded, but we took her back to base where she joined us and recently made a new superstore.

Crazy Shy Lolita Canary speaks only Japanese. So she can basically only talk to... well, actually, it's like four of our PC's, somehow, but there you go. She wouldn't want to talk to more, she's too shy. She's in a bit of a rivalry with her teammate, Shiny Happy Aquazon, over who can be more popular. In Tokyo, we sided with Shy Crazy Lolita Canary until we were able to boost her ahead by announcing her love for Bloodfruit, which rivaled Shiny Happy Aquazon's marriage to Thom Kallor, until it was all shattered by a burrito. Then Friday Feeling Part 2 started to take over thanks to a particular fan of the hero Ultimon.

Either way, Crazy Shy Lolita Canary has found her way into the heart of Spirit (Hombad's character, the child doctor). Spirit is a character who has spent a lot of both campaigns finding his footing, but when he finds a character that pairs well with him, he just goes off. Good pairings with Spirit are some of the best content of the campaign, and this one is certainly there. Spirit himself is ace, so he doesn't always make the right connection with some of the younger women of the campaign, but Shy Crazy Lolita Canary is all about marketing, so the fact that there's none of that sort of interest there works in their favor. Crazy Shy Lolita Canary is cute and fun and just quirky in a way that nerdy gamer Spirit is really able to get, and the pair have become great.

There's no doubt we're going to see more of Shy Crazy Lolita Canary as things go on, as she has a store that we can buy things from, and we will be buying every week. Every. Week.

So crazy.

As a DM, I often feel that I need to do what I can to provide proper diversity in the worlds I present. Nobody wants to have a whitewashed world or a world full of racist archetypes. So in trying to keep with giving a proper presentation, especially as a cishet white male, I do what I can to thread the needle and give proper presentation without entering too hard in pastiche or such. And I mean, as a DM, you have to wear a lot of masks.

Enter Tina, a one-issue member of the Terror Titans or whatever. Tina (by Scar's design) has autism. Neurodivergency is not the kind of diversity normally handled in RPG's, but I feel I can give appropriate kudos to Scar for presenting a character so well.

We just met Tina a bit ago, but she very quickly showed her unique personality, as well as her capability. She was the only one in Alcatraz with us who was coming up with a plan to get out. And she was such a sweetheart. "Saoirse is very smart. She listened to my plan."

We ended up sending half of the cell block out to cause chaos on their own, but I was not going to let Tina leave with them. She was coming with us.

Also, Tina's superpower is her fingers explode. Like, actually explode. They come back later.

If Tina needed a roommate, I'd have taken her, but her mother said she could have her own room so I wasn't going to make her room with me.

Honestly, I think Tina is one of my favorite characters at the moment, definitely in the ten I want to RP the most. I'm just bursting with ideas for her. I'm really, really glad that everyone seemed to take so quickly to her - I was worried that she might get a frosty reception if I mishandled her.

13. King Shark (Nanaue)

When talking about Freddy, we mentioned that he was getting powers from gods. Nanaue is a descendant of the Shark god. King Shark gave some powers to Freddy.

So who is Nanaue? Well, he's not just a hungry shark. I mean, he is a hungry shark. In most scenes, he wants to eat something. He will ask some characters if he can eat them, or eat something they have. And sometimes, when you turn around, you will catch him with his mouth open, around somebody's head. He doesn't usually eat people though. Unless they're Data 7, who wants it.

The rest of the time, Nanaue is kind of sweet. He can be poignant, and has developed a rather sweet friendship with Minerva, who normally does not like sharks. He is a creature of the ocean, and lives in a food chain, so there is some honor to be had with him just living his best life. As long as he doesn't eat people he shouldn't, then he is treated well by others, for the most part. It is his friendship with A.J. (not Aquaman) that keeps him in control for the most part. A.J. ensures he doesn't eat people he shouldn't, and King Shark gets a friend, and other kinds of food as he wants.

King Shark manages to marry the ideas of a ravenous shark, powerful and foreboding, with the gentle presence of a large undersea creature. He is sort of an oaf, when interacting with us surfacers, but there is still wisdom to be found in him.

I'm hungry so I'm not writing too much more, but King Shark has become a big part of our crew in Z'onn Z'orr, and he will likely keep seeing interaction, as long as Minerva is around.

I'll go with Harley because she's technically from the DCAU.

Data 7 likes to fight with Nanaue (And everyone else). And Nanaue likes to fight by trying to eat him. But he can just get big and small (Size Manip) so he'll just clog his throat when he tries.
