Someone finally does an inspection and goes "this thing is half rusted through and there's huge gaps between the slabs". So they have to lower the max capacity vehicles to 2 tons to avoid a catastrophic collapse, meaning in essence no trucks.

They're just trying to get the bridges back to their originally designed limits.

Yeah, this is my understanding of it. The "weight limits" he's referring to are lower ones imposed later due to disrepair. The point is to fix the bridges back up so you don't need those lower limits anymore.

It's not really needed to pull out all the stops either. Conservatives already have a clean 5-4 majority (even treating Roberts as a liberal - I think conservatives see Roberts the way liberals see Manchin and Sinema), and that isn't going to change.

I propose this for a talking filibuster. Any senator may speak for as long as they like, but at any point, 60% of senators on the floor can end debate. A majority of senators on the floor can vote to shut the doors, meaning that any senators off the floor won't be allowed in until the end of the debate and vote. If at any point the Senate falls below a quorum, it lacks power to do anything further and the session ends.

And of course, to make this work, once the vote is taken to shut the doors remote voting and proxy voting will not be allowed.

Not sure why social science research is more important than the privacy of the people. Perhaps the better way would be for the census to stop collecting any information other than the number of people in each area.

The data the census collects is not particularly sensitive, and as far as I understand it this is a hypothetical danger (i.e. not based on actual peoples info being decoded)
