For me, it's probably Pokemon. I've played at least one of each generation.

I think I've played 28 different Pokemon games.

I think I have played 16 Final Fantasy games, 10 if you only count main line games.

I guess Super Mario depends on what that includes, but I would just count the "main" ones which would be 8 games.

Wow I didn't expect them all to be so close to each other! If you include spinoff series Mario flies way ahead with Kart, sports, and RPGs, and if you don't count All-Stars or 64DS to be separate games then it goes down so idk. It's possible I've forgotten some too!

It honestly depends on what's counted. I will be combining same-time Pokemon releases (so Red/Blue together count as one, but Yellow is separate), but... for Mario do you count Mario Kart, Mario Sports, and Mario Party as all separate series? I really don't know what under that franchise umbrella should count here.

However, for Pokemon (14 + 6) Red/Blue, Yellow, Silver, Crystal, Ruby/Sapphire, Emerald. Leaf Green, Pearl, Platinum, White, White 2, X, Alpha Sapphire, Moon (franchise-killer imho), plus things like TCG, Stadium, Hey You Pikachu, Snap, etc. So it's probably Pokemon given the sheer amount, even with combining initial releases.

If spinoffs count, Pokemon (22) takes the cake. If they don't, the number drops to 16 which ties Zelda. Mario comes in at 14 (Not counting Sports Spinoffs, Kart, etc as "Super Mario" regardless of what the general view on spinoffs is), Madden at 8 (All 2011 or older).

The only other notable series I can think of here, if spinoffs count, is SMT (13, ignoring enhanced remakes such as Devil Survivor vs Overclocked, P4 vs P4G, SJ vs SJ Redux, etc). If spinoffs don't count, then those are split across several different series and none are really worth mentioning. I guess there's also Touhou (Up to 14) depending on your definition of "played", since I could never clear more than a few of them.

Final Fantasy takes it either way

I might be a little arbitrary about what I'm counting and what I'm not (ie, 2D and 3D Mario games but not stuff like Kart or Party or Paper; Mega Man and Mega Man X and Mega Man Zero but not Battle Network or Legends), but Mega Man comes out on top for me, with Mario 2nd and Pokemon and Zelda tied for 3rd.

Among non-listed franchises, Castlevania just barely loses to Mega Man by 1 game, although I have more unplayed Mega Man games so it could widen the gap. And Sonic comes in just behind Mario, and could get ahead if I played a few more whereas I don't really have more Mario left.

EDIT: Actually Sonic beats Mario, I forgot about Sonic CD, Sonic 4, and Sonic Mania!

i voted pokemon but in an absolutely no holds barred sense it'd be mario, if everything remotely associated with characters in their respective franchises that i so much as opened once are counted (like say, smash, or uh, each individual minigame in nintendo land) at 71...

by that method, pokemon is a respectable second at 54 though. would be about 60 with fangames i think...

If we're including spin-offs, it's absolutely 100% Mario, no question.

If we're not... without counting then it's probably still Mario.
