Not really no. If you've watched Hawkeye already you know who Yolenna is. You could watch the credits scene for background in why they are in Hawkeye.

Haven't watched Hawkeye yet so I'll leave the thing spoiler blocked.

It's a shame because I do actually like Black Widow. Wanted the movie to be good, but I'd put it pretty firmly in last place in the MCU based on the 50 minutes or so that I saw.

I guess I'll just continue considering Winter Soldier to be the Black Widow movie.

Yeah, Black Widow is pretty darn bad. There's nothing really wrong with it, but it's so uninspired and brings nothing to the table that other superhero or action movies do. It feels like such a Phase 2 movie.

Black Widow is without a doubt my least favourite MCU movie, like I've been bored before but not like that.

But on the other end... I just now finished Spider-Man with the digital release now and wow that has to be up there in my favourites not that I have much of an idea what my favs are. [spidey spoilz] Fantastic blend of emotions from comedy to sorrow, that Goblin heel turn went perfectly. After the villains were originally gathered I was thinking yeah yeah they'll bring in the other Spiders in a hyped up way but then bringing them in at that somber moment of grief and lifting up the mood of the film before lifting up Peter 1 was again, perfect for me. New best use of the great responsibility line as this movie really was MCU Spidey's big lesson learning film and yeah I loved it.

I was pretty surprised in New Way Home when they introduced Peter 2 and 3 to 1 in the way they did - I figured all along that there would be this comedy of moment of like 'wait, you're me? but I'm me!' but they totally skipped that cliche and it was really refreshing? Peter knew EXACTLY who they were without even having to ask

Even as someone who found it to be like a 6 on a 1-10 scale I get this reaction. I did really like the actors (particularly Pugh and Harbour) and the feminist themes but the story is REALLY weak.

That being said I tried watching MauLer's rage video and quit pretty quickly out of disgust with how much he seemed to mangle the film's plot. He went on a rant about how Natasha can possibly get mail even though I thought the movie made it pretty clear how she could. I think he was just using the film as a vector to attack Phase 4 as a whole. Sorry about bringing up a YouTube "rando" but I felt it was at least relevant.

I mean, Black Widow SHOULD have been a Phase 2 (or even early Phase 3) movie! It made no sense to have it come out after Endgame from a character point of view.

I think it was delayed because of maybe some concerns about being a female fronted movie or something like that? Maybe I'm off base here but I thought there were some not great reasons why it took so long to come out, COVID delays aside.
