With any luck this is going to be quashed relatively quickly. I'm honestly more worried about the potential for a different viral outbreak. The only reason this hasn't been contained faster is because tons of world leaders are idiots and people are willing to believe whatever lies suit them.

Yes but you won't hear much about it. This trial isn't being broadcasted at all and I feel like most outlets won't be discussing it much at all.

Of course, this trial should absolutely be broadcasted, and the first notable thing I've seen is Maxwell's lawyer in the opening statement claiming that the victims of child trafficking were just actors lying.

So that's really the best they have to offer in defense, so I don't foresee a solid defense on this.

It feels like an echo or variant of Trump's "we shouldn't be reporting the covid numbers" shit from the pandemic. It's like some galaxy brain on drugs anti-transparency take where the argument is something like:

Yes, that's the argument. They wouldn't even try with Trump in charge because they wouldn't think they could succeed.

It (and related arguments) actually are applicable a lot of the time. Nixon could pull out of Vietnam because he had a reputation as being tough on communism. So he had the confidence to make the executive decision that the war wasn't worth it. Whereas any Democrat would have been branded as a coward or secret communist. And fearing such ignominy, would have persisted with an unwinnable war.

Biden is better than most Democrats on this front but it is hard to repair years of reputational damage, mostly from Obama talking the talk and then turning out to govern as a boring moderate who always ended up following his advisors' advice to protect the establishment.

The baseline interpretation was already he's definitely a right-leaning dumb ass who's giving anyone who approaches him with sympathy the time of day. Honestly, this doesn't really change that.

But I am very much devil's advocating here. I want to be crystal clear on that.

I will say I believe he fired his original lawyers over the PB stunt. Whether he actually knew or not and whether his objections were anything but strategy is a different matter that we really only have his and his lawyer's word on.

I think there's a real chance he loses the case if he goes to trial with his original lawyers. If they were going to focus on politics at trial and paint him as a right wing activist, he could lose.

This is pretty much my opinion on it too. Like it's obvious he's always been right-leaning. This doesn't mean he can't support BLM and doesn't support peaceful protesting (unless you also think he was lying the night all of it went down before he had any attention), and he probably barely even knows who Jack Posobeic is aside from being one of the few people to actually support him on Twitter and help his lawyers compile the fraudulent info with that bogus picture the Prosecution tried to use.

Hell, I barely even know who Posobeic was before I saw him compile all that stuff. Even now I barely know any more about him.

there are different kinds of dumb
