Yeah I do not recommend the traps one because it makes certain traps do like 200 damage. The final boss also has that attack where green hands come out of urns and those count as traps too. I lost a few runs to traps before I decided to just turn that one off.

I'd recommend the +15hp on normal enemies because it's barely noticeable and the one that gives every enemy 1 hit of blue armor. The blue armor isn't a big deal either unless you're using a really slow weapon.

If I switch to Poseidon before Asphodel, Elysium, or Styx, does that increase my chances with Poseidon? I don't think it does. Just that very first boon at the start of the run.

Pretty sure if you switch between floors then the next boon you find is from the new god but I've never tested it myself

My first heat i ran traps because I thought no big deal, 1 heat same run as normal just avoid traps.

Last area + hades is hell with it though. I still turn it on if I'm using ranged but with melee builds its too easy to make a single mistake and get one shot

This is definitely true and it's very useful if you want a certain god for attack/special/dash/etc.

Hermes will cockblock you though.

I'm not sure if it's possible to prevent Hermes from diluting your pool. I think he appears the same amount no matter what? Could be wrong though.

Switching to a different god's keepsake between levels definitely makes the next boon come from that god. If you take a chaos gate or erebus gate you might skip it though, and also sometimes Hermes will pop up first, but then they'll be the next one after him (and Hermes usually comments on it). The rarity bonus only affects that first boon from the god.

Here's some additional info about god appearances you may not realize: in any given run, without using keepsakes to manipulate it otherwise, you will only encounter four random gods, plus Hermes who can only show up three times in a run. If you use a keepsake of a different god who is not part of your four, they will begin appearing, but one of the previous four will stop appearing. You can take advantage of this to boost that Family Favorite mirror boost if you prefer using that to Privileged Status.

I'm still skeptical about the keepsake thing in subsequent floors, but I'm gonna keep testing it I guess.

It 100000000% works. It's not always the very first room, but the very first time that a god boon appears as a choice it will be that god (or it will be one of the choices, if there are multiple choices). You were correct about it not working if you just keep wearing the same one, though

It's worth it to set up a build and get a god in your pool for sure. Try only using the god keepsakes for the first one or two areas and then switching. It works very well.

Though with the four god thing I realize I have been screwing myself over a few times by getting rid of other gods. I guess Family Favorite isn't as good as I thought.

i did a run using all the mirror skills i had never used, to fill the prophecy in the fastest, most painful way possible. ended up being surprisingly easy with athena/demeter. max gauge athena's aid facetanks hades too hard. first time not dying at all to hades actually! actually my first no death at all run, i think.

i liked family favorite a lot at first too, but keeping 2 status curse afflictions up is so easy on anything that actually needs the extra damage. i've come to really love aphro/dio dash boons for this.

hermes shouldn't dilute your pool in any way, because yeah, he's always available. he's also almost always worth it so i actually enjoy the mechanic of him "beating" your keepsake god to you because every build can use some hermes boons.

I almost never take Hermes. I never really notice an impactful difference from +attack speed buffs even though theoretically it should be making a big impact, and his dash upgrades don't seem worth an opportunity for a SICK boon from a god I actually want, or giving up a heart or gold if I'm hurting for some buffs, I'll even take darkness over him if i could use some sweet sweet healing.

Been doing Boons/Shops lately. I feel like the doors one is rarely helpful, since it usually just seems to give another door of the same type? Guess it's mainly useful on like Hermes or whatever if you're trying to get a different god.

so, the door reroll definitely took some learning. there's "pools" it seems of different kinds of rewards. IE a door with a key/darkness/gem will, i believe, always be one of those 3. coin/heart/pom seems to be another group, but i *have* rerolled and gotten a boon on this before. it seems rare. i've never gotten a boon on the first group though. and then boons obviously can reroll to other gods. have never attempted to reroll a hammer yet but i would imagine it's in the boon group

that said i do think i prefer the boon/shop reroll. it allows me to really hone in on specific builds (for instance, i had to reroll twice to get snow burst there. fortunately it was the last important thing i wanted). rerolling doors seems useful, but it always feels underwhelming and i often had to look for reasons to use all my charges. whereas the boon/shop reroll is never unused, something always comes up that is very worth the reroll.

Whew, finally got my first clear, attempt 11 I think. It was my first time with the shield, and honestly I hate the shield, and was only playing with it for 20% darkness, trying to farm darkness.

It was a terrible run, hated pretty much everything I found, only survived because I had a Charon thing to heal 10% of my health each room, and kept that on me most of the game (I like his keepsake). Didn't even notice any other upgrade.

I only won because I decided to take a very cowardly approach to the last boss, spamming the Special from across the room...for like, probably 20 minutes straight.

Yay, got a clear with Guan Yu. I got the upgrade that powers up the special by 200%, and put some focus on its boon (had Athena, and the reflect there did make it safer to charge up). Basically treated it as a projectile weapon most of the time. I also had the Hermes boon to speed up attack, so that helped a little bit here and there in keeping up my health. What also helped was taking the Aphrodite boon that gives bigger health upgrades to undo some of the aspect's damage and Dionysus' boon for getting health with each nectar.

I also just got my first clear, where I also only happened to be using the shield because of the bonus!

Much like you, I always forget about its ability to block and bull rush, so the run was going pretty damn badly early on. I don't remember exactly but I died quite a few times early in the run and barely even made it out of Tartarus.

Then I got that Duo power that heals you every second (Stubborn Roots) and I was back in it again since I had no more revives left. A little later, I got the power that turns your bull rush into a projectile, which meant I could basically just stand in place, block (almost) everything, and shoot to kill. If I ran low on health, I just had to run around, use my AoE mark to do chip damage, and wait for my health to come back.
