Okay, so a few months back (May, I think?) the NFL Owners made it a rule that you must stand and "show respect" for the flag and anthem if you're on the field. They left as an option for players to remain in the locker room if they didn't want to stand. They did this without any input or discussion with NFL Players Association (the Union). You may recall us talking about it here back when it happened.

Flash-forward to yesterday. It was reported that the Miami Dolphins' penalty for breaking that rule would include suspension up to 4 games. The backstory here is that each team has to submit a report to the league describing how they'll handle discipline for everything. The Dolphins were the first to submit this report, but the other 31 teams will have to as well. This caused the story to come back into the spotlight a bit.

In response, late last night the NFL announced they would freeze adding and enforcing new anthem rules as they have entered into discussions with the NFLPA over what to do about everything. So we're almost back to square one with the NFL flailing about over what to do.

Regarding specific parts of Trump's tweet: "Isn't it in the contract..." No, it isn't. "$40,000,000 commissioner" refers to Roger Goodell, the NFL commissioner and his contract.

What I really don't get is how we can't be a little more reserved in judgment. Have you ever met someone who did something kind of wrong ten years ago? Would you refuse to have a conversation with someone because they flipped their car while drunk at age 20 even though they're now age 30? There is a certain amount of grace you have to afford people in the world. No one is perfect; Gunn's comments are lame, and they're definitely on the wrong side of weird, but they are far from some of the truly heinous comments we've seen. Given the sheer amount of time between these Tweets and now (not to mention the apology involved), wouldn't it be appropriate for people to offer him a "second chance" in this instance?

If you expect perfection, you're going to be handed a pile of deception in its place most of the time.

I mean from the standpoint that yes, he owns up to having said those jokes, so on that level its hard to really get outraged over a company taking offense to them. Not to say he deserves it, but you have to accept consequence for your speech, and hes well off enough that I dont have a lot of sympathy specifically for him.

The main difference is that this was an example of the political right (far right in this case) using the social media history stuff for an agenda. This is the 2016 era. As long as people keep all their social media history available, this will be conducted by anyone and everyone. Gunn got wrongfully fired imo, but this will continue to happen. And most importantly the attack on Gunn was entirely to just tear him down

We will be living in 2016 for the foreseeable future, and funnily enough this era will most likely revolve heavily around going back to the earliest "wild west" days of social media when people posted a lot less professionally, since accounts werent "verified" or "tied to a professional organization" or what not.

Also, I read a bit more of "What Happened" which naturally got me thinking of guess who again.

As far as I can tell, perhaps the biggest reason there has been so much animosity towards Hillary Clinton is probably because of general over-exposure. People are sick and tired of her and what she stands for, and feel like she has had her time in the Sun already due to being a former First Lady, and a very politically active one at that. Doesn't help that she lost to someone with no prior political experience.

Thing is, what was she supposed to do then, just lay low and play second fiddle to her husband? Yeah, real great. I know I'll sound like an SJW saying this, but it does not send a good message when people scorn a woman for being ambitious, and vote for a misogynistic man over her to boot. And I seriously feel like assertive and/or powerful women just generally get undeservedly intense levels of hatred directed towards them.
