Sure there are worse games, but I don't think I've ever been as hyped for anything in my life (not even sex lols) than FF8. FFVII was the best game ever but FFVIII was supposed to be even better in every way. And well.....it wasn't.

Terrible game overhyped by several media outlets. Was given a 10/10 by many gaming rags but in reality is just a 4/10 bore with overly realistic game mechanics and too much of a "real life simulator." I don't want to be spending time with "friends" by going bowling or playing darts in a freakin' VIDEO GAME. I have real friends for that.

Games that constantly tell me I'm an idiot that needs to be told exactly what to do are not games at all. Such games that have excessive amounts of filler are even worse. Zelda has usually been great for me, but this one is a piece of crap game that can't hold a candle to Twilight Princess or Breath of the Wild, both of which are great (even if they have a few flaws apiece).

Pokmon S&M

Games that don't let me use my brain cells are obnoxiously awful. This game took it to new levels. It's almost as bad as Pokmon Channel, which was not something I expected as much of as I did S&M.

Metroid Prime

With each passing iteration of Metroid, the game was slowly perfecting the 2D Exploration Genre, with Super Metroid being an all time great game. Then we crossover to first person which is more of a chore to explore than anything, and dumb gameplay down to a bad FPS, and Metroid hasn't been worth playing since.

Ocarina of Time

I loved Link to the Past and even Adventures of Link which proved that they could branch out and still keep me entertained. My hopes were high for this game after Super Mario 64 was a slam dunk. Unfortunately while the exploration and puzzle solving elements of older Zelda games were still there the gameplay is just really lacking depth and challenge here and it has been lacking in the series ever since.

I'm not sure which of the two were bigger disappointments for me. Probably Metroid Prime just because Super Metroid is much better than any Zelda game-- but I also hadn't seen Nintendo fail yet when OoT came out while I'd already been disappointed a few times by Prime so yeah really hard to say.

Really controversial choice, but Bioshock. I was a couple years late to the party but everyone raved about how amazing this game was and how revolutionary the atmosphere, story and mechanics were. Well, having played System Shock 2 I was thoroughly dissappointed. The story was the same, just under water. The logs and stuff everyone was raving about was the same as in System Shock 2 and hell even Metroid Prime. The atmosphere was good but kinda hokey. And god the gameplay mechanics and RPG mechanics were so dumbed down. It was a good game but holy crap was it a let down considering how inferior it was to the game before it. I assume most people claiming it was revolutionary just never played SS2 or Deus Ex or something. It was just... odd.

You see, I don't really care about too much stuff
The only game series I REALLY care about are Pokemon, Mega Man and Ace Attorney
I enjoy other stuff like Zelda, Mario, Final Fantasy etc

In most series, I can expect a disappointing game. Stuff like Phantom Hourglass for Zelda isn't too shocking. Mario and Luigi Partners in time etc
They are usually "Yeah, it wasn't good, but oh well, let's wait to the next one"
Games that people hype a lot but you don't care about and then they turn out to be bad/not my taste are not "biggest disappointment" they are just a minor let-down

But to me MMBN4 was something special. MMBN2 and 3 were the best games released for the GBA..and they still are
The wait for MMBN4 was hard, it was probably my most anticipated game ever. Every Corocoro scan excited me. I wasn't really a fan of the new graphics but I still had high hopes for it, after all - it came out after MMBN3!

And then it came out and oh my god that game sucked
-The game felt incomplete if you didn't have a friend with the other version
-Only three dungeons+final, compared to the 3 previous games which had six/seven+final dungeons, and then they sucked (ToyRobo is the stuff of nightmares)
-Need to play the game at least 3 times
-By the third time you will probably miss a lot of V2 chips and the only way to get them is by using the chip trader and rely on luck because the viruses that give them are not found anymore
-Most of the game is filler, filled with sidequests that advance the main story and they are random
-You will have problems running away from battles very very early on
-Dark Chips
-Said Dark Chips can make you lose 1 HP permanently - if you just wanted to check it out or something
And some more stuff I forgot

Other notable mentions are Ryusi no Rockman (MMBN1 "port"), Golden Sun Dark Dawn, Apollo Justice, Zero Time Dilemma, Scribblenauts, Starcraft 2, Layton Azran Legacy, Rayman 3

That is obviously the case

BUT I think it's pretty impressive how Bioshock brought that FPS sim style to the modern generation. It's actually really hard to dumb down and streamline those games, so it provided a really good foundation for future FPS sims that were way better (Dishonored, etc).

Dragon Age: Inquisition is up there, as is pretty much every Zelda/Mario game ever. I don't consider them bad games, but I grew up with people raving about OoT and the like and when I played them they were just "ok" for me.

This. I've had a lot of disappointments, but this one hurt the worst. I can't bring myself to go back to it, even though people say the new material improves it.

Kirby's Dream Land 2

Despite being a huge Kirby fan I never played that one until this year. I always saw it at/near the top of Kirby game lists so I was excited to finally play it... And not only was it not as good as it was made out to be, it was outright bad.
