haven't thought that far out yet. at least i'll know the max that i'm dealing with though now. will prob update tomorrow on all the new little things.

Rangh The Fusionist
Final Version
Rangh is a man who is physically in his early 30s, but has lived for much longer. His actual age is unknown, but it can be assumed he's at least 500,000 years old. Because of this it is generally assumed he cannot die through natural means. He enjoys finding new challenges and will occasionally push the envelope.

Powers
Mental Extension
Rangh has the ability to extend his being into another creature/object with any level of cognitive function. Rangh must be aware of the presence of the creature in order to start an extension. He maintains full control of his original body while he is extended. This has a range of 10000 feet.
There are three levels to his extension

1. Observation
In this mode Rangh will simply record information from the target. He will learn everything the target knows about its personality and abilities. Including things like its fears, likes, physical properties, and so on. He does not learn the targets immediate thoughts (mind reading). It takes a minute for him to gain all the information on the target, regardless of the amount of information the target holds.
Rangh must transmit information he gains in this mode to his original body from his extended mind. He can choose to send as much or as little information as he wishes. Sending it while maintaining the extension causes requires him to stop all magical activities for 0.25 seconds. If he decides to leave the host it becomes immobile for 1 second (but still able to cast). He can Observe as many targets as he wants, but his downtimes stack (so if he sent 2 information packets he would have to stop magic for half a second, etc). While a target with enough mental power can realize Rangh is recording information, they cannot do the same thing to him.

2. Persuasion
Once Rangh has gained all the information on a target he can attept to persuade them. He will do this by analyzing their personality and tendencies. He cannot make them do anything they are physically or magically unable to do. The farther apart from something they would likely do the less likely persuasion is going to be successful. However, he can abuse things like a target having self-doubt, being over-aggressive, or similar trait. The more times he attempt persuasion on the same target the harder it is for him to succeed. The max amount of times he can persuade any target is 5 times. If he fails twice he is forced to leave the target, during this time he is immobile for a second.

3. Domination
If Rangh has successfully persuaded a target to the point where he feels comfortable he can attempt domination. If successful he gains complete control of the target and all of its functions. Success is determined by the targets mental condition. While attempting domination Rangh must be constantly concentrating leaving him immobile and unable to cast other spells. He can only dominate one target at a time.
A target can break out of any of these by overloading the targets mind somehow, destroying the target (unsummoning works), or in the case of domination, breaking Rangh’s concentration somehow.

Mastery of Objects
He is able to scan a nonliving object in the same way he is a living on. Scanning takes 30 seconds and he learns the objects physical properties such as how much damage it would do, how much it would protect the target, and so on. He must be continually scanning the object (can’t cast spells). It is not required the object remains visible, but it must remain in his general vicinity (10000 feet).

Copy Creation
Rangh has the ability to fully copy an object/being he completely scans. A summoned object will be an exact copy (including magic), but a physical one will only have physical properties. So he can copy a fire demons fire, but if he copied a magical sword he would just get a normal sword.

Summoning
Rangh has the ability to summon the following creatures.
1. Elemental Sphere
-A 1 foot diameter ball that can float through the air. It can move at 3x the speed of sound, but can only move within 10,000 feet of Rangh. It can fire out blasts from all types of elements. The strongest being roughly the the strength of an explosion that can destroy an average house. It can fire off them quickly and defend itself with elemental barriers. It is highly resistant to magic, but if a physical attack breaks through the barriers it is rather frail. Their offensive power is exponential if they combine their powers.

2. Barton The Master Swordsman
-A warrior around the same age as Rangh (in physical terms). He has honed his skills to be an exceptional swordsman. He has mastered the weapon form of all types of swords. He is weak magically, but his armor can deflect blows with the power of a small bomb. If multiple swordsman are summoned their defensive power is exponential.

3. Mysterious Cat Girl Nyah Nyah
-Random anime styled catgirl. She is extremely fast and flexible able to twist her body in seemingly impossible directions and make attacks (think of it if vlado become proficient with Ivy's Sword whip). She is an all offensive type and has no defenses to talk about other than her dodge skills. She can make non combative copies of herself.
At max Rangh can have up to 7 copies+summons active at one time. He can dismiss them at will. Actual summoning/copying takes 5 seconds to happen, but the cast is instant and he can move around while he is waiting etc.

Fusion
Rangh’s signature technique. He can fuse with anything he wishes. Fusing with a nonliving object causes him to take on physical properties of the object. So fusing with a sword can make his body sharp as blades, fusing with a bow will allow him to shoot arrows from his arms… etc.
If he fuses with a living being the creature must either agree or be unable to refuse the fusion. Once fusion takes place it cannot be broken unless Rangh allows it. Fusion with a living being does not change Rangh’s physical properties, but instead gives him the abilities of the creature he fused with. Fusing with a water elemental would give him water powers, fusing with a swordsman would give him sword proficiency (and a sword). The more powerful the being the more the fusion helps Rangh. Assume that while fused Rangh’s use of the power he gained is much stronger than it would be if the creature had used them. His combat benchmarks are also increased in proportion to what he fused with. He can only fuse with one target at a time. Fusion is instant. Defusion takes a second to complete. In this time Rangh cannot take any action. Fusion requires physical touch. A living defused being is considered to be destroyed.

Other Powers
Rangh can teleport freely within a radius of 1000 feet. His actual physical movements are average. After teleporting he cannot do so again for about half a second.
He can construct magical barriers capable of stopping medium sized bombs. The barriers are also able to protect against magical attacks of a stronger nature.
Rangh is able to cast telekinetic spells to the extent where he can lift a car into the air with ease.

I could come up with terrains flavored to fit each of the characters I created

not sure if that would be fair play though since I assume my characters would have an advantage in their "home" terrain. if we're just talking about coming up with generic terrain it's harder for me to come up with ideas though.

...a random terrain generated? <_<; no issues on my end.

i mean i'd rather a terrain that's "a character's terrain" because it's obviously gonna be something that favors them far more than someone else. the initial idea i had was that characers could pick 'not that one' terrain once they're done and terrains are known, but uh... well, if there's other ideas or people are cool with more random variables, that's fine too.

well I personally just like the flavor of it being a terrain that is literally the arena from the Random Spell Tournament, where it would get randomized every match the same way. just a cool meta idea (I love meta).

maybe I'll draft a terrain for each of my characters too, then.

Terrain - Large Coffin

The fighters are trapped in a coffin large enough for both of them to exist on top of each other, but not large enough to move around or anything. The coffin is unbreakable.

hm. didn't explain that well.

the idea was initially gonna be (said this somewhere in the 1st topic) that characters could pick something like 3 terrains they like, 3 terrains they don't. if there's 2 taht are liked, that'd be it. if there's 2 that aren't, it's out of randomizer. if there's no connection, random.

but yeah. if that's not workin' that's cool too. full randomizer's an option at least (and RST Arena would be hilarious). it just seemed like the right way to avoid a crappy terrain + avoid an overly biased terrain.

Genius City

The hometown of Alan Chang, Boy Genius, which was named in his honor after he saved the city from the invasion of the Robozilla Clone Army. The city has a futuristic skin to it, with many of the buildings being several stories tall and too shiny for their own good. In the event of Emergency Protocol, a giant glass dome opens up around the city, protecting it from all outside harm and containing any threats within. The battle would take place inside of the Genius City Dome. Since none of the citizens would have time to evacuate, there will be plenty of innocent lives that can potentially be caught in the crossfire. It is a bustling future metropolis with plenty of foot traffic and public transportation below, as well as hover cars that zip about the city around 4 to 6 stories up (depending on which sky lane they have merged into).

Combatants would start within the 280 square mile city at a randomized location, and it is the primary goal to both track down and kill the enemy combatant. It is possible to evade detection and win via cat and mouse tactics, but it is nearly impossible to escape from the dome. You could teleport out or melt through the dome with very hot temperatures, but it absorbs physical damage up to an incredibly high level. Escaping from the dome counts as a Retreat action which means the person doing so would Forfeit the match anyway, so it's probably not a good idea. If you get flung or teleported out of the Genius City Dome, that is not a Ring Out. Let's not make this any more complicated than it needs to be!

Everyone in Genius City loves Alan Chang Boy Genius and hates all criminals; take this into account when deciding how effective they would be at mixing with the general population.

Clockwork Malevolum

A normal city torn apart by unknown forces. The city has been unnaturally split into five tiers, each one two stories above the rest with each tier being a circle around a central tower. Each tier has a number of staircases between them, with walls enclosing the rest of their perimeter. The city is a modern one, though being constructed a few centuries back it favors stone buildings and Victorian era designs. The upheaval caused by the creation of the tiers has left the city unstable, and largely broken. Everything of interest has been taken from the buildings.

Entrance to the central tower containing the controls to the Clockwork Malevolum is impossible, and the Diabolus Ex Machina is not functioning. As there is nobody in the control room, points and failure conditions are not in effect, meaning summoning is not impossible. The Nightmare Engine is still functioning however, and a black fog will slowly descend upon the battlefield from the outside of the circle inwards. This fog quickly suffocates the mind and body, though strength of will can delay the effects. As well, the fog nullifies any form of power sent at it and prevents teleportation through it. The fog is falling at a slow pace, and will slowly shepard the fighters up the tiers. The fog will not effect the final tier around the tower.

Combatants start at a random position at the edge of the lowest tier, and finding eachother will be difficult at first. The longer the fight continues however, the closer they will be pushed together. Escape from the area is impossible.

Hmm... Malevolum at the center, and NYC around the ground level, or Genius City... Empty Fields is connected to Bastion Cliff... Swamp could be connected to the Woods, and then that's connected to the Empty Fields. World's Core is way below everything... Dunno whether to put The Broken Pieces above or below Cloud City, but they're floating above the Malevolum for sure. Or maybe Cloud City could be one of the levels of Malevolum now. World Arena, NYC, and Genius City could be as well. But ROTTA is definitely above Broken Pieces and Malevolum. One level of Malevolum could be an RST stage, or really, anywhere.

Dunno what to do with the fog.

Oh, and speaking of Terrain:

Anastasia: Prefers places where she can hide, blend in, and lots of toys for her to play with. Doesn't like being out in the open, and terrain that is insanely hazardous.

Arctrus: Prefers Aerial and wide open spaces for battlefields. Hates cramped spaces.

You know, making the guys who made characters choose arenas adds a competitive element that probably shouldn't exist. This isn't a contest one enters to win, it's one where the process itself is the point. Though it will be fun, I must admit.

If there are going to be arenas at all beyond the usual "magical arena that somehow allows both fighters to fight at a normal level" I feel like having preferences is required. It's a competitive element, but it's better than the alternative IMO.

Isometric Arena

An arena based off of the battlefield from Harem Tactics, it's a 3D Plane that looks like it was cut right out of the ground. It's exactly 150 yards by 150 yards, and a totally flat surface. It is possible to knock an opponent off the edge, where they will fall into a bottomless and endless darkness to their death (unless they can fly or teleport back out). The details of the arena look like HD Video Game graphics, but this also leads to some oddities.

For example, there's Height 1 and Height 2 squares which are exactly as tall as (1) and twice as tall as (2) an average unit in the game (human being sized). This continues upward (or downward) forever. Aside from that, the ground is basically flat. Height 1 and Height 2 squares are usually things that can be used for cover, or just uneven planes. For example, instead of a steep slope leading upwards like a hill, you'd just have a bunch of flat ground, then a bunch more flat ground at height 1, then a bunch more flat ground at height 2, then a bunch more flat ground at height 3, etc. Negative Height squares are things like ditches which can be hidden in.

This map also has Fog of War, making it hard to see opponents who are more than 40 yards away. Opponents will start on opposite ends of the map.

Gravekeeper's Mansion

A massive four story mansion filled to the brim with untold horrors, located somewhere off the coast of Japan in a mysterious undisclosed location. The first floor consists of the reception hall, dining hall, kitchens, servants quarters, a lounge, and the ??? Room. The ??? Room is locked with Paranormal forces. The door is actually a portal into a pocket dimension that is folded up and stored inside of the Mansion. It is a 30' x 30' holding cell cursed with eternal darkness, which can only be opened from the outside. The walls of the ??? Room are made of teeth that slowly grind away at the sanity of those trapped within, and eventually their flesh when they lose their minds and wander too close to the walls. The first floor is relatively safe.

The second floor is filled with rooms for guests, although they are almost always empty. Also, since there wasn't enough room for all the experiment rooms and holding cells on the third floor, some of the guest rooms have been reassigned without any notice. Every once in a while, a guest accidentally wanders into one of these unmarked rooms and is never seen nor heard from again. Whoops.

The third floor and above is restricted. The third floor is where the pets, experiments, and prisoners of the paranormal world are kept. Each room is bound with a magical lock (not a paranormal lock) and can be opened via magic or blasted off with enough force. It's usually a grab bag as to what you might find inside of any given room but generally people never set foot on the third floor unless they're being put there in one of the holding cells. The fourth floor consists of the room of the master of the mansion, Keyuri, as well as a giant in home movie theater.

Below the mansion is a basement laboratory and a wine cellar, which has a secret passage leading deeper into a flooded crypt. Fighting inside of the mansion can get pretty dangerous because wandering the halls after dark could lead to the one in question being snatched up by a boogie man or wandering into a shop of horrors by accident. However, for those who know the layout or don't fear the things that live inside, it's a highly advantageous battlefield. It becomes very easy to wage psychological warfare against your foes.

The mansion itself is located on an isolated island with thick, untamed forests. Pity be to those who think the forests are safer than the mansion and try to escape to fight out in the woods instead. The trees are home to the creatures which couldn't be contained in the mansion, and most will eat anything they happen to come upon without a second thought. Even worse, the ones who escape the mansion are typically those who either can't be seen or have no physical form (yet are still capable of feasting on mortal flesh). So, yeah, getting chased out of the mansion is a really bad idea.

Man, at this pace I'm gonna end up with two categories of terrains: standard boring ones more about the fighters vs. In depth ones more about the terrain. The latter is growing and based on the way this contest is structured, that means it's gotta be looked at more.

Well, when making Clockwork Malevolum, I set out to make a detailed terrain that didn't really make the fight about itself. Sure, it forces people to move if they set up camp on the outskirts, but still.
