Only 1 resistance and 4 weaknesses to the most common attacking types

Ice type is geared for offense but the majority of ice types are slow as fuck and geared for defense

Water types do it better. All Water types can learn ice type moves but dont carry the baggage of the awful defensive typing so no point in being ice outside of stab which isn't worth the tradeoff of all the common weaknesses

As a Dragon trainer, Ice really should resist Dragon at least.

I don't know the addition of Heavy Duty Boots and Freeze Dry did make Ice types more usable. Kyurem and Weavile are top OU. Water types may learn Ice moves but they usually don't have the stats to be a hard hitter like Weavile and Kyurem or others like Mamoswine and Cloyster.

Nah.

Should be:

Offense:

Grass x2
Bug x2
Dragon x2
Fire 1/2
Water 1/2
Ice 0

Defense:

Dragon 0
Ice 0
Fire x2
Poison x2
Electric 1/2

It's not just the typing matchups but there's not many ice types that are actually GOOD

Poison might be worse

Water types are better all around, I agree, but there's only like 4 defensive ice types, Cryogonal, Avalugg, Articuno, and Walrein. Argument could be made for Dewgong but it's not that good...

Meanwhile the offensive Pokemon are loaded, Jynx, Cloyster, Kyurem, Weavile, Beartic, Froslass, and probably Mamoswine.

Saying there's more defensive ices is just wrong, and the offensive ice types are so powerful.

None of that makes any sense.

Poison should be SE towards fighting, though.

Depends on the temperature. Theres enough of a leeway for them to make it work to give Ice types a buff. Thats the reason why Freeze Dry exists.

Ice being weak to Fighting makes sense due to breaking ice being a standard martial arts trick.

I know this is correct categorization but it's hilarious to me that a giant clam pokemon with its main stat being defense is clasified as an offensive icetype

Ice resists Ice.
Ice takes 2x damage from Rock, Fighting, Fire, and Steel(which are all great offensive typings which are commonly packed by sweepers of all kinds).
Ice does 2x damage to Grass(join the party lol), Ground, Flying, and Dragon(the last two are really consequential, to be fair).

Some one mentioned Ice resisting Electric, and that...would be really good, actually. It would be a major boon to Water/Ice 'mons in particular, and Electric won't really notice.

shell smash + white herb + skill link = destructive pokemon.
hit it x2 if lucky. most pokemon go down in 1 round of attacks.

Ice has gotten better over the years but still is not gonna be dominant. There are so many better Fairy types to check Dragon and so many better Pokemon can learn Ice Beam anyways.

Weavile is great for its dual typing. Were it straight Ice it wouldn't see as much play.

Almost purely because of Skill Link and Shell Smash tbf. It used to be defensive prior to that and wasn't nearly as good.
Also, there's way more defensive ice types if we're purely looking at stats (bulky stats and slow speed).
Arctovish, Aurorus, Glastrier/Calyrex-Ice, Lapras, Regice, Rotom-Freeze, Sandslash-A, Vanilluxe, and Crabominable. Beartic would also be on the defensive tanky side statwise.
Most of them do still tend to be offensive in practice since Ice type is just inherently an offensive typing. Although ironically, Froslass stat-wise leads to offensiveness but she's used most often as a suicide support lead.
imo the best way to use froslass is as a weird combination of a wallbreaker and a suicide support lead. poltergeist/triple axel/trick/spikes with a choice band.

I agree with most of this, but I would say thematically speaking, Steel absolutely should be SE against Ice.

I always thought Water should be NVE against Ice too since, outside of hot water (i.e. Scald), most water will freeze onto a cold/icy surface.
