You sound like the unhappy one in this scenario. People are "mad" because you're just being rude. To continue the bar / restaurant metaphor, the owner has announced their retirement, everyone (a group of regulars) was celebrating/reminiscing on good times, and you're at a table in the corner saying "but he sucked though!" Like it's fine to have that opinion but what are you thinking is going to happen by saying that at this juncture.

They tried to give Irvine a moment by saying he had a better memory than everyone else, so he was supposed to be the one who kind of "got the gang back together." It didn't really work in my opinion. Irvine also has the great moment where he isn't able to shoot Edea (which is one of the best moments of the game in fairness).

Each character in FFVIII not named Squall and Rinoa basically have one big moment and then vanish. The ending does a great job providing lingering closure on these characters but they're basically Chrono Cross levels of nothing once they get their spotlight. This isn't necessarily bad for the game as a whole, but it doesn't do them any favors in a character battle/ranking.

Same. I don't even really think of you all as "friends" or anything. But I do think of the board as like a weird bar/hangout spot with familiar faces, if that makes sense. I really hope this place doesn't disappear. As much as we might want to blame people for not changing/evolving with the times, I also like how this place hasn't (for the most part).

During my last replay of VIII, I got to that scene with Squall and Quistis in the training zone, and I had completely forgotten it even existed. It's by far the best Quistis moment and it happens not even a fourth of the way into the game. Then she disappears. Even Selphie gets more development than she does. Huge waste.

Also, 6 isn't really an ensemble either (in my opinion obvs). It's Terra's game and then it's Celes's game.

Hot take: I don't really see the NSMB games as some kind of half-step down from 3 or World. Like they're all basically the same level of quality to me, except for NSMB playing slightly slower.

Definitely. There's a version of XV where she and Iris are playable. I feel like her status as "highest of the highwinds" is certainly due to no anti / power voting

I just find it predictable and kind of cliche. I never once felt like Zidane was seriously going through it. It feels like a scene I've seen before. If you compare it to Cloud self-actualizing and Laguna and Rinoa floating in space as "Eyes on Me" plays it's far behind those two, which seem to serve similar purposes.

"You're not alone" is the most overrated FF scene/song I swear. But FFIX has a ton of better moments than that.

Just binged this. Pretty sure it's my favorite Star Wars product since Mando season 1.

This is even better than Andor, which was great but also felt like it was great in spite of being a Star Wars title.

Ahsoka feels like the best parts of the Clone Wars/Rebels without the filler/CG animation (which was fine, just not my aesthetic). Good performances all around. Some nice redemption for Hayden Christensen.

Seeing how good this is really shows how Disney should just hand the keys to Filoni. Recast the original trilogy characters and let's do Episode 6.5 right.

Only complaint I could see is if you didn't watch CW and/or Rebels you might've been pretty lost.

I always have disliked the idea of giving 1's to characters solely on the basis of not liking them as people. Like the criteria for evaluation shouldn't be based on some moral code but on a combination of writing, design, gameplay, and then maybe a smidgen of personal taste/judgment about values.

You can think a character is a complete shitheel but also recognize they're well-crafted and complex. giving Wakka a 1 for "racism" is totally ignoring the development he undergoes throughout the game. Same with a character like Shadow whose past misdeeds add to the tragedy of his character.

I'm not saying anyone is wrong for voting this way but I wouldn't do it.

16 was absolutely not a return to form. I'd sooner say 14 was a return to form than 16. 16 is a complete game with good graphics and music, but beyond the pretty visuals there's nothing there: no heart, no fun gameplay loop, no satisfying customization options. There's really no progression once you unlock the first three Eikons.

And yet it's still better than any mainline entry since X simply by it not being rushed or incomplete or XIII (which I need to replay)

It's really bad. The original is extremely slow. Zodiac fixes the gameplay somewhat, but the story is beyond repair. It's just a skeleton of good ideas with nothing in between to connect them.
