My most recent Ace Attorney experience was GAA ep. 1 (which I will finish some day,) but most of the side characters in that are ridiculous in an annoying can-we-stop-watching-this-animation-already way. The Japanese defendant guy with his stupid flailing arms is among the most absurd. I could definitely do without all the jurors. Every witness goes beyond "having charm" into "okay, we get it already." I just generally wish they could have turned it down a notch or three.

The jurors in GAA (and Layton) are by and large notably worse. However, this tends to work in the advantage of jurors who end up actually being interesting/plot important.

Reno can just show up and make pained faces and shrug his shoulders awkwardly, like what they did for those Organization 13 goons in KH3

There are only a few bad ones. These are the ones who tend toward offensive and outdated tropes/stereotypes.

I tend to agree that the ghosts are stupid but the overall good in the game greatly outweighs the stupidity, imo

January/February is absolutely stacked with Board 8 games

I've heard that this one got a pretty muted reception from the fans. I'm still interested but also I wonder if I'm just not done with the series after CSIV. Felt like a pretty good ending point.

MoM is an okay movie, but it's disappointing when looked at in the context of the MCU properties around it. It doesn't really build on Wandavision at all, and it doesn't do enough interesting stuff to justify the multiverse. The best aspects of it by far are the horror/Raimi related scenes.

As one of the board's most ardent defenders of turn-based, I think 7Remake's struck the right balance. I agree that it didn't need it, but I definitely see the appeal to the new system.

JRPG heads be eating good in the New Year

I haven't played a Disgaea game since 5, which I could only tolerate about an hour of. I'm honestly surprised there's still a market.

I actually like the "dungeons" in this game; they actually feel a lot like Zelda dungeons with a turn-based battle system, which was a dream game I concocted back when I was 12 for sure. There's more exploration and experimentation required than in a typical JRPG.

And yeah, now I'm wrapping up side quests before the end and I'm like "where the hell has THIS game been?" It's so much better now. Just took way too long to get here.

The theme that plays during hunts/most bosses is pretty good. Titan Lost is good. But yeah I found most of the area music to be pretty forgettable.

Physical. All about that resale market.

I also think the earlier games are challenging if you don't grind to level/upgrade equipment

Yeah I'd preorder from a store and try to do on-site pickup no matter what. Last few times I've tried Amazon or Gamestop it's either delayed or damaged or not a U.S. version

If we had only gotten to this like... ten hours sooner. Battle system is still bland as can be but I'm invested in the story for the first time ever.

I think Thor 4 actually borders on good. The black and white fight scene is actually one of my favorite fights across all the films. It has some good stretches. It also has a bunch of humor that just doesn't land, a lot of which can be chocked up to Taika being given free reign while being stretched too thin and not caring about this as much as some of his other projects.

If Konami did do a crazy re-writing of the MGS timeline/mythos in the remakes I'd be down with it, so long as the original Kojima versions remained accessible and untouched. Same deal with Resident Evil. I actually have been completely turned off the idea of 100% faithful remakes with just graphic/QoL updates. Give me new stuff and alternate histories.

I think not explaining Aerith/Sephiroth's whole deal is part of what makes the game interesting

It's Quantummania. Terrible script and a character assassination for both Ant-man and Kang. Humor doesn't land and it also fails as an action film.

MoM should be replaced with Black Widow on the poll. That was such an obvious editorial hackjob. Started out as one movie and was focus-grouped into a complete different (worse) one by the end. You can see the exact moment where they decided to pivot into generic superhero garbage.

Totally don't begrudge anyone who thinks Remake/Rebirth is dumb/ hate the KH stuff. I do too. But really that was only the last chapter of Remake that was full on stupidity. 90 percent of that game beat ass.

If anything XVI is lacking because it doesn't have enough dumb weirdness (it replaced it with full on edge weirdness).
