I've finished the poorly named follow-up to Danganronpa. Spoiler thoughts in a later post.

I made fun of this game before it released due to it naming its main characters Yuma Kokohead and Shinigami, but overall.... it was enjoyable!

Let me say this up front though: I very rarely complain about performance. I don't give a shit about frame rate. If the frame rate drops, I say "whatever, I'll tough it out." HOWEVER, this game definitely plays like garbage, no doubt. It's not the worst load times I've dealt with, but it's the worst in a while. A steam/non-nintendo console version of this would be the way to go if it ever happens.

Anyway, I liked the idea here of having a fully explorable world for investigation sections. V3 experimented with this in a very rudimentary way, but here we get something that could work as a nice groundwork for Ace Attorney 7. The investigations themselves could be a bit more detailed though.

The main issue is that it's too easy/obvious. It's like baby's first Danganronpa/Ace Attorney game. I could basically solve every mystery almost immediately, including the big overarching one, which I guessed halfway through the game itself. I'm not even trying to brag here. It telegraphs nearly everything and drops extremely obvious hints. This is fine if the game is trying to pick up new fans to the genre, but also... let's face it, no one's going to play this unless they're already a Danganronpa fan. So I imagine a lot of players were let down.

Thought this would be more complaining about the Wells run. I guess if you're a fan of the marriage, you're getting what you want (essentially).
Either way, the Hickman book is probably going to be good so it's weird to complain about it.

However, I also low key agree with editorial that married spider-man is boring so I'm not the right person to ask. The problem is that Marvel can't stop teasing the MJ fanboys with this stuff. Just have Peter and MJ be mature about it, and then Pete can be a grown ass adult who isn't hung up on a girl while also giving writers the freedom to play up tension with other girls. Brand new Day did this okay. Just quit the will they won't they with MJ shit.

I also loved Control; it's just that the original AW feels quite dated, even in the remaster.

I tried playing Alan Wake earlier this year when it was free on PS Plus. I couldn't get into the gameplay, but the vibes were immaculate. Maybe if you're into third person adventure games you'd be more willing to overlook the combat/exploration issues.

Now that someone else mentioned AA7, I'm going to interject some thoughts I've been having about it while playing through Master Detective Archives.

As much as Raincode runs like complete ass (and it does) I think it's a good model of how I'd like a "next-gen" Ace Attorney 7 to play. Give us sections where we move around the city, go to crime scenes, the police department, the Wright Anything Agency, etc. Make the crime scene investigation environments a bit more in-depth than they are in Raincode.

Unlike Raincode, keep trials the same as they always have been. If anything cut back on some of the extraneous gimmicks.

Ahsoka is better than Rebels. Rebels was held back by its art style and making it a kid's show. Ezra was annoying, they couldn't play up any of the relationship stuff. Filler abounds. Ahsoka makes it seem better in hindsight but like most kids shows it's a slog except for the big episodes.

If the root decays enough to get infected it could spread so that you lose more teeth or the infection could spread to another part of your body. For me to give a 1 to a character they would have to be somehow boring, aggravating, inconsequential, and failing at what they set out to do at the same time. I can maybe think of some AA/Danganronpa characters that fit the bill, but not a FF character. They're usually just boring or forgettable, which would give them a 2 or a 3 by my standards.

Balthier is probably the best XII party member by virtue of him actually having chemistry with multiple members of the party. But he's also kind of "too cool" in a 90's Gambit from the X-Men kind of way.
