One of the worst Final Fantasy games ever made and it's not really even close to being good, let alone excellent.

The overwhelming majority of posts I've seen talk about it always praise it. In fact, #2 might be the first time I've seen someone hate it. However, I absolute hate it. Least favorite FF game I've played.

i had fun with it, and i like the combat design.

You and I live in two very different realities.

FFXII is an overall good but heavily flawed game that signaled the beginning of the decline of the series, and I'm ambivalent towards pretending it isn't.

It's my favorite one.

Vanilla 12 is kinda meh

Simultaneously love that game and get super upset thinking about what could have been if they hadn't fired Matsuno and absolutely ruined the story that started out so good, being a political game of thrones years before it even premiered.

Zodiac age really was the best way to play it and ironically not for the reason you'd think.

story didn't really grab me.

I really didn't like it at all, but I've been interested in trying Zodiac Age.

It won't fix the story, but at least it seems to fix some of my issues with it.

XII is garbage.
The Zodiac Age remaster is top 5 FF.

I hate card games more than the next guy but I refuse to believe anyone could legitimately hate 8 like that, much less rank it below ff 7/10-2 or heck even ff 6, the pinnacle of snes rpg

Love it. Zodiac age is the better version but the original holds up.

Not only was the story terrible, but it kept stomping all over the gameplay.
Also the gameplay wasn't that great either.

13, at least, made it clear from the start that you were in for an unfun linear mess. Also the gameplay is essentially a programming simulator, which is kinda neat.

It's really bad. The original is extremely slow. Zodiac fixes the gameplay somewhat, but the story is beyond repair. It's just a skeleton of good ideas with nothing in between to connect them.

It's approaching nearly 20 years and the ball has just kept dropping and never picked back up. Kinda crazy when you think about it. Like the simpsons, ff has been garbage for longer than its been good.

it's okay, but it very literally plays itself once you figure out how to set up gambits properly. the story would have been better if it had been carried forward by better characters

I also hate it. But then, I was playing actual MMOs at that time. So a system that tries and fails to be a single player MMO with a combat system that revolves around using a classic turn based menu while also moving around...

Oh, right, and you have to use in-game currency to BUY the ability to automate your party members. The magical graphics were arguably a downgrade from FFX as well.

Remake and 16 were a return to form...for the most part. REmake perfectly captured how a modern party based system should be and 16 had epic stuff going on with some great characters. Didnt quite reach the mark on everything, but still miles better than 13 and 15.

Rebirth looks very promising.

16 was absolutely not a return to form. I'd sooner say 14 was a return to form than 16. 16 is a complete game with good graphics and music, but beyond the pretty visuals there's nothing there: no heart, no fun gameplay loop, no satisfying customization options. There's really no progression once you unlock the first three Eikons.

And yet it's still better than any mainline entry since X simply by it not being rushed or incomplete or XIII (which I need to replay)

Yes it made the game easy but I was more talking about how the madmen actually figured it out. Like what the fuck casting cure on yourself in the beginning of the game until three specific numbers pop up, then load up the airship save, wait until a kid does his shit then open the invisible chest for 100% seit rate. I know speed running and stuff is all about manipulating RNG but this shit fascinates me lol

16 is what they churned out with no delays and no rush jobs and no excuses? Really?

So... there really is no more talent at that company. Its all gone, caput.

My opinion is unpopular, but I loved 10 and 13. 13-2 wasn't as good as 13 to me, but I enjoyed playing through it. Dropped Lightning Returns since I hate time mechanics in game making me feel like I can't enjoy going at my own pace and exploring and instead having to rush. I'll pick it back up someday though.

Extremely disliked 12 to the point I'm having trouble finishing it. I might just do the max LP cheat and max out everything and just rush through the game, but I'd hate to do that. I have less than 29 hours on the game according to Steam, and my last achievement was obtaining the dawn shard. Not sure how much left I have with the game.

Played FF7R earlier this year which is my first time playing FF7 at all (other than literally the first fight of OG back in the 2000s and not liking it and immediately dropping it...don't even think I finished the fight) and absolutely fell in love with it. It is now my favorite FF game ever. I'm expecting Rebirth to top it.

I played the first hour of 15, and I think I'd probably enjoy it more than 12. Playing FF7R made me go on a FF kick, so after I beat it, I played Crisis Core Reunion which made Zack my favorite character of all time. Decided I needed more and started playing OG occasionally when I'm in bed since I have it through PS Plus. Had also decided to give FF12 another shot since I tried it for the first time when I got the PS4 launch version years ago, but I didn't make it past an hour or two before disliking it.

Ultimately though, Dragon Quest is hands down my favorite RPG series of all time. >_>

IZJS made it an amazing FF. The story is also not bad since the story for FF is not really that amazing to begin with.

The characters in that was so horrible. The Plot was forgettable. Like honestly I can't remember the plot. It is that bad.

Vaan-Was a boring side character that we got to control. And put on a damn shirt.
Penelo- Even worst then Vaan but at least we didn't play as her.
Balther-He was already and he seems pretty good. But that is just compared to the dead weight around him. If he was in another FF game before 12 he would be coming off the bench.
Ash- Boring Yuna.
Fran-She was a great character, I can't complain about her at all.

Yea, FF12's characters aren't memorable in the slightest. I forgot to say I tried the FF16 demo, but didn't like the game.

Balthier and Captain Bash were the best characters

It's one of my favourite games of all time, alongside X.

The big Pharos at Ridorana/Giant Crystal levels back to back made me not play it again.

While the PS2 version was excellent for its time and the best looking game on that console, I believe the PS4 version is the definitive version and is one of the best games in the series.

Oh. Because pound for pound, wrpg almost always have better voice acting than JRPG for obvious reasons, but better gameplay? Western devs in general tend to suck at that, fun wise. I haven't really fallen in love with Bioware/Bethesda the way people did back during Gen 7. Some people might be into doing borderline homework for gameplay, but I play games to unwind.
