So I've been out of the loop entirely for the past week or two or three, what exciting stuff has happened in the WWE? Has whatever big anniversary or milestone they were hyping up happened (shows much attention I was paying even when I was still following it, huh)? Has the Punk/Bryan/Kane/AJ thing changed or progressed or anything?

For what it's worth, I don't care much for Paralyzer simply on the grounds of it being a (usually) much less potent version of Scum Double Voter/Scum Mayor, in that the mafia has enough control of the lynch through words and their votes already and the remainder of lynch manipulation should be left to town (unless its just a wacky game in general, where you're deliberately using crazy roles) since its their main tool. I actually don't like Mayor much either for what it does, although being a confirmable role that can only confirm itself with a potentially stupid decision is a decent enough solution. Maybe its just me but lynch/vote manipulation roles in general kind of bug me.

Which is funny because when the brand split was more firm, Bryan was Smackdown, AJ was Smackdown, and Big Show was Smackdown too. Kane was...Kane, he was Smackdown, then he returned on Raw and has been on either/both a fair bit since. Kane being confusing? Never saw that coming.

It's less about having faith in Nintendo and more about assuming that if anyone is likely to stand out via some weird gimmick, it's Nintendo.

All that article states is the following: Nice guys are men who have no idea what women want or even worse, what they want because they're always too scared to find it. So they idealize, dehumanize, and put women on pedestals like they see in movies.

I like how a casual statement about how the term is used now apparently is taking something personally. Kind of funny. But anyway, the article doesn't outright state what I said, which is fine, because I didn't say the article itself did, just that the internet in general has taken on that view, and this article follows the same thought process, by using the "nice guy" term to represent a hell of a lot of extra personality traits, which is what I find amusing in the first place.

The term Nice Guy has always been universally acknowledged as what this article describes.

No, I'm pretty sure it was at one point a literal term, meaning someone who was nice, as opposed to the current "deranged creepy stalker with no social skills who will probably become a serial killer in five years" thing that has come about fairly recently.

I don't know, what's the overall smark opinion on him? What I've seen is basically "good in the ring, bad at promos", and...that's pretty much what I've always thought about him.

I saw a rumor that one potential turn for the story would be that the baby is Daniels's baby and that he was one of the men who gave her drugs and took advantage of her. IF THAT TURNS OUT TO BE TRUE, then the angle submarines below every other angle ever created into "most despicable angle of all time" status.

I don't know, I think that at least fulfills your desire of a heel that wouldn't get cheered <_< "Yay, here comes the man who drugged and raped a girl then used her trying to get help with her pregnancy to try to blackmail his former friend and the company boss! I'm so happy! Yay!" just doesn't sound quite right.

That would make for a pretty unpleasant storyline.

I would say "I'm not sure why you're that confident in Shane when he's never been a part of the creative team before" but then I realized that Steph has been head of creative for over 11 years now and it's not like it could get that much worse.

Shane has at least done entertaining things on air before, that has to be a better qualification than Steph, right?

I think a majority of these people are just white knighting for this chick at this point

and the chick isn't accepting his apologies

I'm not following this too closely or anything but the only apology I've seen from him was...pretty obviously not serious (it was a twitter rant with him basically saying that everyone who had a problem with him wants to castrate him and other random ****), maybe that came about later and there was a real apology earlier.

So who cares if your goal is to have sex with as many as you want?

There's no problem at all with wanting to have lots of sex with lots of people, the only issue I have is how often the associated attitude tends to come across as less "most people, men or women, are after sex, let's just go **** each other and who cares about everything else?" and more "women are useless for anything other than having sex". Board 8 is usually pretty good about not going outright into the latter category, but board 8 is also not the only place these discussions show up.

Careful observation (by which I mean thinking about it for maybe a third of a second) reveals that on board 8, any topic featuring the words "alpha", "beta", or "friend zone" in the title are three times as likely as other topics to suck.

Most people start out as neutral jobbers!

But that's what I mean about how they debut. In kayfabe (which is where the mindset we're discussing exists), Del Rio didn't start out as a neutral jobber, he did random stuff and then showed up in the WWE one day presumably because he was bored of being rich and wanted to wink at people. Wade Barrett has nothing in between fighting dudes across Europe and appearing in the WWE, he's been the same heel only out for money from the moment he got into the business. Punk and Bryan are some of the few exceptions to have it acknowledged that they have some pre-WWE wrestling history, but even then, their personalities from those days aren't really explicitly spoken of, just occasionally acknowledged as an inside reference.

Do they? It feels like in the WWE, debuts are heel as often as not, and they're usually treated like their current character is what they've always been in anything they've done in the past. Why does Alberto Del Rio come to the WWE if he doesn't want to compete, when in kayfabe he's by far rich enough to never have to put effort into anything?

I'd like to think the whole "they feel like they can win and only get DQ'd when it seems like they can't" thing is true if only for the fact that it makes it look a bit less implausible that heels are in the WWE in the first place, because why would they ever get into this business if they didn't at least have SOME desire to compete and think they might be able to succeed at it?

Tough question, I tend to find a lot of final dungeons rather underwhelming. I think I'll tentatively pick Venus Lighthouse from Golden Sun, largely thanks to the awesome music.

Oh yes I am totally a huge fan of arbitrarily needing to ignore treasure chests and killing fifty million of the same ****ing enemies in the vain hopes that someone will drop one piece of the puzzle needed to get a damage upgrade that won't save me half as much time in a single fight as it cost me to get the damn thing in the first place.
