Remains one of the most unique designs in the series-- one of the only white mages that isn't just the leading girl of the game, and shows a lot of personality in the time he has in the game. Also has one of the cooler moments in that game. Also you can do some great things in FF2 by abusing his high level white magic and its soft borders. Like getting to one of the final towns before doing the second dungeon. Feel really bad about Leon, a good character from the game in his own right, getting robbed by tiebreakers two years in a row though. Will go hard for him in nominations next year for sure. Don't leave it to the judges, even when you don't think they're involved. --- No problem! This is a cute and pop genocide of love! |

You kinda lose the moderator/leader/guide into heroics type role + 3 competing villains at times doing heroic things in the name of outdoing each other + pawn balance if you add more. Honestly I have trouble envisioning really big groups most of the time that's why most of mine were small. My biggest group was probably my weakest group all things considered in a lot of ways cause I wasn't sure what the point was. The rest of my teams had a purpose-- one was a stupid as hell purpose which is why it wasn't a good team either, but yeah. (the X-Babies don't count as a large group in terms of my ability to make a vision because you really only envision 3 to 5 or so distinct members in that group despite there technically having been 10 because the 8 babies don't really contribute individually to that vision all that much. Some do but most are basically accomplishing the same kinda idea) --- No problem! This is a cute and pop genocide of love! |

That was definitely my favorite of my teams and one I'd read for sure so I'm glad it did the best of my entries at least. I was considering putting Constantine as a 6th member because I think he would've fit well with the deceivery aspect while tilting it a bit harder in the heroic direction, also opening up a different dimension of bads to fight. I shied away from it because it felt like pandering (I only know Constantine from the TV show as previously said so it didn't quite feel like a "me" character even if I felt from what I know he fit in well). Would that have helped or hurt the ranking? --- No problem! This is a cute and pop genocide of love! |

I take exception when Smash fans feel it's entitled to be there rather than it merely being there because it has a large following and the EVO administration is pretty loose about letting things in and it's about having fun first. It's a fighting game/platformer hybrid that to me doesn't fit into either genre very well, and in terms of the standard method of play/victory conditions (the common thread of games in the party genre) shares a lot more in common with party games than fighting games. --- No problem! It for the most part succeeds in emulating a fighting game as most of the red flags are removed (you still have some potential weird stuff due to the defeat condition involving some platforming elements even when tourneycrab stages are chosen) but if this was the default state of the game I don't think anyone would say it's not a fighting game. But that's still not what the game is. That's what people who want to get into the game srs pretend it is. It's just like trying to play Halo 3 as a racing game by playing race mode with some restrictions on gun spawns put into place and stage selections, or trying to play Tekken 3 as a volleyball game by playing the volleyball mode. They succeed as well to some extent but I doubt if there were a national racing game meetup people would be lobbying for Halo 3 to be considered a major attraction, even if it's more popular than most racing games. Like this isn't meant to be condescending or whatever. I think Smash as a fighting game has better gameplay than plenty of "real" fighting games. Speaking entirely in the context of matches and taking in-universe logic into account when considering realism (aka no dinging of Warrior for teleporting mid match or whatever) I stand by it. Like the selling is directly contradicted by the previous happening in the match, and none of the run ins are explained at all. Russo and Bischoff, when they had bs matches, it usually was internally consistent and was contained to "there was a bunch of stupid run-ins" or "the ref called for a bell at a time I couldn't follow" which you can easily explain away as realistic if you assume ref incompetence is a thing. Not to mention that match had BOTH of these things, was a main event match on a PPV off a MitB cash in, which makes it that much worse than a Raw Main Event with no build --- No problem! Table in corner seems weak but doable if both sell it like death - No victory attempt is made, as they are both dead - Drew and Ziggler come out, steal the keys from the outside ref, pull dead Strowman onto dead Roman, Foley doesn't count it, they attack Foley. - SHIELD brethren come out to stop this before another ref comes in to make the count Then have the match progress more or less the same.
