Been saying it for awhile but in a global crisis, despite our bungling, worldwide faith in the dollar was stronger than ever. In a world economy that is honestly all that matters.

Basically, HCQ might save X number of people from covid. But prescribing it for covid will kill X+Y people with various heart related side effects.

Also Arizona has reported over 100 deaths multiple times now, so they aren't even accurate, nevermind that I'm not sure what point you are trying to make.

Even abandoning all restrictions we would not reach herd immunity before having a likely vaccine.

We would just kill more people and actually cripple the economy.

There was a good article a week ago or so about how some of the countries that had successfully contained the virus have gotten new outbreaks again. This virus, the way it behaves and spreads, it's really impossible to permanently eradicate it until we get a vaccine.

Outbreaks in the tens, or hundreds.

We are tens of thousands and have been for months.

They are in a literal bubble. I could see why they would think a mask in a bubble without the virus wouldn't need a mask. Would you wear a mask if you knew every single person you would encounter didn't have the virus?

Supplies and other deliveries still go into and out of the bubbles.

The bubble is great but it is not a 100 percent seal.

They could use that time to come up with a transition plan to virtual classrooms if it happens. Instead they are just going immediately to online learning which will likely be a month, month and a half minimum.

You can only push back so far because you have dates you have to finish all days of instruction by. At least in PA that is how it is.

I am more convinced people want them to fail rather than they will. NCAAF is the hardest due to student campuses. NFL and MLB should be rather fine if they have private jets and use common sense.

The NFL is more than triple the amount of people traveling than MLB.

I really don't know how they will manage it other than fake testing.

Yeah, the only non-terrible solution for schools was "get this shit under control before September" and we've kind of missed our window for that.

All our local schools are insistent on starting on their original dates of mid August instead of pushing back to mid September or later. I dont understand it.

How's that any different than learning in a classroom? Teachers can't exactly do anything physical to make a kid listen/not misbehave.

Its an association thing. Especially younger children associate school with an expectation of having to learn and pay attention. Whereas home they associate with play and relaxation.

There is no question we have to get kids back to school. The problem is making it safe for teachers and caretakers, many of which are grandparents.

But we really just want to send kids to school to force parents to go to work because it's really just for the economy.

If we want to reopen schools that badly we should shut everything down for 3 to 4 weeks.

They'll be back.

After 12 years, the industry still had not recovered to the 2007 peak. In Macau it peaked in 2013 and had not recovered to there by 2019.

They have learned to monotize beyond gambling.

But seriously a system of 100% of lost wages to a cap of some number above 600 seems like a no brainer.

Returns would closely follow an index, which would be clear in the green by now.

If you are red after the last 5 years it would be a sign of poor diversification.

Finally had a chance to sit down and read this one.

Definitely not used to a Dresden book ending with such little resolution.

If we actually told everyone go get two weeks of supplies, then set a 2 week period of everyone stay home, closed everything but absolutely essential services, we'd have gotten the virus down to negligible levels.

They still typically share several markers held the antibodies, so they are still effective.

Its likely any vaccine would be modified yearly like the flu vaccine.
