Yeah, the only non-terrible solution for schools was "get this shit under control before September" and we've kind of missed our window for that.

Honestly outdoor schooling / tents should be something that should be considered more seriously. For inner city schools with little to no outdoor areas, alternative sites should be scouted and afforded to these schools.

Reminds me of how NY is preparing to mobilize massive government-provided daycares for people to send their kids to. You know, because sending them to school is unsafe.

Um, no. It becomes a question of do we want to screw the children and cause compounding issues with their learning over their lives. Like, what? How the hell did you ignore who it really affects for teachers and economy bs.

They aren't screwed either way. You can choose to screw them or not.

I am more convinced people want them to fail rather than they will. NCAAF is the hardest due to student campuses. NFL and MLB should be rather fine if they have private jets and use common sense.

the cynic in me figures Trump gambled that this would actually go away in the late spring and the blue states would be the ones that looked bad. I dont know why else the feds would outbid hard hit states.

It did go away in the blue states, precisely because they look so bad (because it spread everywhere and basically reached herd immunity).

Had the rest of the country waited a few weeks and not locked down until community spread was already rampant, it'd look just like New York. Which in terms of deaths would be catastrophic, but the media insists would be really good and awesome.

True. I also don't know when your end of year dates are either. But, what if the administration has a mass outbreak and has to take 14-20 days or so of quarantining at home? What if they decide midyear vaccines are up and running so they can transition back so need like a month or so to get everything ready in the building to transition. What if your teachers strike? Etc etc.

I mean, I am not saying they shouldn't push back. I am saying though that there could be scenarios where having the leeway might be beneficial also.

Also I would like to point out that the hardship with mlb and NFL isn't the gameplans but their roster sizes. It's why bubbles would have been hard for them to work with due to immensity of players it would encompass. Like 6 teams is the entire NBA almost.

They could use that time to come up with a transition plan to virtual classrooms if it happens. Instead they are just going immediately to online learning which will likely be a month, month and a half minimum.

They are in a literal bubble. I could see why they would think a mask in a bubble without the virus wouldn't need a mask. Would you wear a mask if you knew every single person you would encounter didn't have the virus?

Stop pretending you don't know the reason. It's pretty simple... the worse this is, the better Democrats will do in elections, and the more justified increased government control over individuals will seem to be.

I don't think the NBA bubble will fail but they have not been consistent in the length of time players have to quarantine for breaching the bubble.

Richaun Holmes crossed the bubble line by like 10ft to grab delivery food - 10 Day Quarantine

Lou Williams leaves bubble for a funeral (and goes to a titty bar) - 10 Day Quarantine

Zion Williamson leaves bubble for a family matter - 4 Day Quarantine

Realistically Zion should have had to quarantine for longer in my opinion.
