I played them on XBLA and they seemed fine to me, but then again that was the first time I played those games, so I have nothing to base it on

But XBLA doesn't have 3 and Knuckles right? I think it has just the two separate games.

I believe if you buy both, you can play lock on. Also, if you buy Sonic 1 and Sonic 2 as well, you can play the blue sphere game and Knuckles in 2, like you could with the original cartridges.

It was a few years ago, so the specifics escape me, but I remember having to constantly pass equipment and items back and forth so that different characters could use their abilities on them. Like I think one guy had the ability to make ingots or something, so we were constantly running to this one furnace, transferring out metal, he would smelt them, then pass them to the character that could craft, then he'd have to transfer out the crafted items to everyone. Something like that. I think we had the same problem with cooking food too.

And we had to keep making the CPU characters follow and unfollow so they wouldn't set off traps, then we'd teleport and leave them behind. Again, I don't remember the exact details, but I remember it all being tedious.

Combat was fun though.

I tried to play the original in co-op with a friend, but I wasn't too keen on the story and we spent so long micro-managing our inventory and characters and it took so long to do anything that we never felt like we'd made decent progress after several four hour sessions playing together. This one improve on any of those (plot, pacing, co-op clunkiness)?

It is the better handheld in terms of performance, utility and build quality. It just lacks games. Even more so now that all the exclusives keep getting ported to PS4.

Still, there's cross play and remote play with the PS4, but you don't seem to care about that or the 'anime porn games', so, as numerous people have said already, it's not the console for you. That doesn't make it bad though.

Yeah, I'm around chapter four too. The banter's pretty decent so far and the game seems a lot less linear after the opening section. You basically have a small open world area with a few different places you need to visit with side areas to explore.

Chloe's facial expressions are great too. She has this weird hunch though. Like, she stands like an old woman.

And the photo mode is goddamn legit. I laughed myself hoarse playing around with it.

Probably because the game had a really strong opening, but when it actually launched, it just had barebones open world survival gameplay and was kind of a massive letdown. I played it a bit last night and the gameplay is mostly fine now, if a little janky, but it really needs a plot to drive it forward. Currently your objectives are just to access other areas of the game, but from what little lore there is, I'm excited to see what they do come April.

So, basically, don't worry about it until next year when it becomes an actual game, pretty much.

Or thereabouts. The game has the last big update before it leaves early access coming today at 10am PST/ 1pm EST / 5pm GMT at which point the price will go up to $50.99. Apparently, the final update is going to be the campaign story and will come sometime in the next few months.

I was really hyped for this game when I saw the opening segment a while back, thinking it would be like a 60s British Bioshock type thing, so I was pretty bummed out to see what we got when it launched last year. But now I'm debating picking it up while it's cheap ahead of playing the campaign mode in the hope that we get more of that opening segment. Just worried it'll come out, be amazing and I'll have missed my chance to pay the lower price. Hrm...

I've heard the Dark Souls board game is terrible though. I've not played it myself, but it's come out a few times at the games nights I go to, and it's never resulted in anything but hours of confusion ending in a blazing row. It's like they just threw a bunch of cool-looking components into a box and then came up with some rules.

We've played it a couple of times now and it's fine. The rules are a little confusing as the manual doesn't provide the best examples for stuff, but otherwise it's pretty fun. I'm waiting on my wave 2 stuff to come in October before we play any more though.

I've been planning to do a challenge run in Skyrim for my channel for a while now and will probably start it in the next couple of weeks, but I need help figuring out which version to get.

Originally, I was going to do the 360 version, because it had the voice commands for shouts, which I thought would be funny, but then they announced the Special Edition, so I waited for that, but that doesn't have the voice commands. I was hoping that someone would mod voice commands into the Special Edition version by now, but that doesn't seem to have happened yet.

I can see that there is a voice commands mod for vanilla Skyrim though, so my question is, if I get all the recommended improvement mods for vanilla Skyrim, how different is it to the Special Edition with mods? And is the difference significant enough that it's worth just getting the Special Edition and losing out on the voice commands? Also how easy are mods to install on vanilla Skyrim as well?

I now Nuzlocke my way blind through every new game of a generation (I still generally skip the second game for each gen to avoid getting burned out). Haven't played Sun/Moon yet, although that was because I wanted to Nuzlocke it for my channel, but recording 3DS footage is hella expensive (so, I did one in HeartGold instead, another game I skipped).

Point is, try Nuzlocking!

I'm reading the main Secret Empire comic and it's... fine, but the story is spread out over so many different series, that it's difficult to follow sometimes.

But yeah, SHIELD turned some fragments of the cosmic cube into a girl, which somehow rewrote reality to make Cap a Hydra sleeper agent and exploded and the proper version of him is in some displaced limbo world with displaced versions of Red Skull, Bucky and Falcon and also cube girl. Hydra Cap is trying to reform the cube completely so that he can completely re-write history.

Lots of hijinks ensue. Deadpool is a double agent for/against Hydra who keeps rounding up C-lister supervillains for some reason, New York is stuck in the dark zone with most of the heavy hitters trapped inside, there's a big forcefield over the Earth locking out all the of cosmic superheroes and some of the others, like Vision and Scarlet Witch have been brainwashed one way or another. Also Hank Pym is now Ultron and lives in Alaska and Iron Man is an hologram AI of Tony Stark in an old suit and not actually him. I think Las Vegas got destroyed too?

I think Valve are making more money not releasing games than they ever did releasing them.

I worry (not actually though) that too many digital card games will thin out the audience too much. Unlike other genres, these can be a pretty big time sink and I wonder who, with so many options available, can afford to spend time in more than one or two of these at a time? I play Pokemon TCGO (admittedly super casually) and have trouble getting all the weekly prizes and stuff. If I knew anything about Youtube revenue, I would have more than $6~ after three years of making weekly videos :/

Youtube ad revenue is kinda mysterious, but I think it breaks down a little bit like this:

A video that short probably won't have ads most of the time it's watched. And some of the time it does show an ad, some of those people will have adblock. If the person skips it or watches less than 30 seconds/doesn't watch to the end if it's less than 30 seconds, you get no money. And I don't think banner ads make any money unless you click on them. Also, videos under 10 minutes make less money from ads anyway and videos that short will almost never have an ad at the start.

And anyway, you can't actually claim any real money until you've made $100, so I wouldn't worry about it unless you're going to make this a regular thing. And even then. Like I said, 3 years, $6~. Haaa...
