Fire Emblem doesn't produce good stories, generally.
What's unique about Fates is that it fails to produce any good, compelling character arcs. There are some fun character interactions in support conversations, but the end result isn't anything more than quirky characters with just enough defining features for a headcanon narrative. --- ICON: We've got movie sign! ... I dunno why people are suddenly focusing on story for Fire Emblem. Fire Emblem has never been great with stories. They're fine, but let's not pretend they were incredible plots. Even FE9 had a pretty bare-bones plot; it was just pretty well-written and focused on the right parts of the plot.
Fire Emblem has always been about the charm and style above all else and I feel like Fates had enough of that. The changes in gameplay makes it heads above any other FE game, too. I don't like Revelations at all and I never played Birthright, but Conquest is my #1 FE game. --- acknowledge @SSBM_Guy as alt. pleased to report restoration of dapper account an overwhelming success. ... I'm not pretending anything. I appreciated the little motions toward alright stories some of the earlier entries had. It was nice. Not as much as I generally prefer, no, but something.

Huh, I don't think I have either. Maybe if there was a reasonable way to record footage on one, I might have though. I really wanted to do a Nuzlocke in Pokemon Sun when it came out.
