Ranking the Noble Nine, eh...

Link is obviously on top.

Snake got 46.5% on Link, and destroyed Samus in the final match with Draven. Even if Snake dropped, I say he's still above Mario in strength. I mean, Mario couldn't beat Vivi and didn't look very impressive against Crono (perhaps some slight leeching from MMX, yeah, yeah...). Still good enough for 3rd place, I think. Samus let Tifa get 45% on her. which isn't exactly great, but probably enough for 4th place. I think Samus is more likely 3rd place than 5th or lower.

Sonic did better against Mewtwo than Sephiroth did...and considering Sephiroth let Kirby get 47% on him, I think Sonic > Sephiroth was true at the time. They're probably take 8th and 9th place. On the other hand... Mewtwo did better against Pikachu (58%) than he did against Sonic (55%), implying Sonic is above Cloud! Then again, Mewtwo appeared to gain momentum through the contest.

Frog got 36% on Cloud. Red gets 45+% on Mega Man, and that's after Samus leeching him. Red's pretty dang strong, beating a Squall by a good bit as well as Vivi. Mega Man looked Mega Man looked good against the Mewtwo/Pikachu combo and Charizard, too. I say Mega Man gets 4th place.

That leaves Cloud and Crono... Crono/Pikachu is likely a 50/50 match. Squirtle squeaked by Cloud. Pikachu and Squirtle are about equal, with a slight advantage to Pikachu. I'll take Crono, I guess, especially knowing that CT has grown relative to FFVII.

I would imagine the play-rate of remakes tend to be pretty low. Ones I've played are the Phoenix Wright Trilogy on DS, Super Mario All-Stars, Final Fantasy 1 and 4, and the remake of the Lunar games... aside from those, I haven't played too many remakes. I would rather see a "best original game" contest.

Both FF7 and Goldeneye were multimillion sellers, and both belonged to systems beloved by GameFAQs. It makes sense to me both would have a high play-rate.

Certainly before 2007, nobody complained about how boring it was to have one match a day! It's not THAT bad! I've changed my mind, though. Since the effect of rallies isn't that much different in 12-hour matches, so I would favor 12-hour matches, for sure.

It's the multiple simultaneous matches that was the problem. I'm not sure if Undertale spillover actually changed any match results (Mario 64 could have beaten RBY in the bonus match), but I think most of us were bothered by the dramatic changes in the performance of the games. Spillover has a high chance of changing match results in the future.

Camping out might be a much better idea than online purchasing this time around. Bots don't work for brick and mortar stores! Stupid Tai Ding bot.

So, people are saying there will be a lot more scalping of the Super NES Classic than the NES Classic. But is it really as bad as people say it is? It certainly is, if you don't want to buy one from a scalper. However, what if there are too many scalpers? It will backfire on them. If scalpers flood the market with SNES Classics, prices are going to fall. There are only so many people willing to pay a huge premium for one. Also, I think prices for both the NES and SNES Classics will fall over time, too, especially after the hype dies down early next year.

Okay, I meant to suggest just ONE match per day. That way, rally spillover is limited. And yes, 24 hour matches would not limit rallies, but they limit spillover. It was spillover that screwed the 2015 games contest.

And if we really wanted to minimize rallies, we would run a 4-way contest where you vote for your LEAST favorite character, and the one with the fewest votes advances!

The cord length means little to me, as well. All you have to do is move the console out away from the tv.

I just wish it included an AV cord, but it only has an HDMI cable. I'll have to either get a new t.v. or a converter.....

I agree with the rankings of those games. I sometimes wonder if Super Metroid could have pulled it off if there was zero rally spillover, because there were certainly hundreds of outside (Undertale) voters who began voting in all the GameFAQs matches during that contest. 500 votes is a bit much, though.

We really need an "original game" contest just as ( charmander, I think?) mentioned a while back. That's gotta be the freshest idea for a contest right now. We just neeed another character contest first. Oh, wait, why even bother...? Stupid rallies.

But wait! Maybe we can make things better. I think the most important thing is to design the contest to be as rally-resistant as possible. That means doing 24-hour 1v1 matches. We haven't had one of those since 2006. That's right. It's been eleven years! Are there any other means to limit rallies that SBAllen might approve of?

Dang.... through all this chaos I was traveling south from Eastern Idaho (total eclipse ftw) and I missed all the pre-orders. Every single one of them today.

Except a miracle happened the night before. I was about to go to sleep. I had only Wario64 notifications on my phone. I ignore any notifications after going to sleep. Normally I rely on nowinstock/zoolert alerts while I sleep. I did not have my laptop. After getting in bed, I get a notification. I decided I would check one last time. Best Buy pre-orders had started. I got one pre-ordered with no problem.

And it turns out that was the most reliable time to get a pre-order, too. Now I just have to hope it doesn't get cancelled. At the very least my CC info should be reliable considering I bought something from Best Buy using that card a couple weeks before. If something happens, oh well. I'll just try again when it gets released.

I feel very sorry for those who had to deal with website crashes, etc. trying to get a pre-order. -_- The demand is freaking ridiculous. The supply/demand ratio may be unprecedented.

But if Target's pre-orders didn't work, hopefully we will see Target pre-orders again. And hopefully from some other websites, too.

Meh. A while ago I said to myself that I don't HAVE to have it....(though I really, really, really do want it!)... thus, this cancellation notice didn't sting me that hard. I'm sure I (we) will still be able to get it, though.

I'm kind of glad Walmart did those pre-orders. We now know that Wario64 is pretty reliable (knock on wood) and we've had a little bit of experience dealing with the anxiety of getting pre-orders in.

I'm guessing Walmart had no idea the Super NES Classic was going to sell that fast. I pre-ordered it three minutes after Wario 64 made the announcement, so hopefully that's good enough. You know what would really suck? If your credit card info turned out to be invalid, thus causing you to lose your pre-order. Or if somebody stole my credit card and i had to cancel it. Maybe I should cut up my credit card to make sure it doesn't get stolen. (You can all see how pessimistic I am.) >_>

I'm going on a week-long vacation with limited internet use... dang. Pre-orders will probably start when I'm out swimming. At least I will have my phone, but I'm slow with it.

Nintendo Switch is on sale (er, normal price) for $299 during Amazon Prime day. Makes me wonder if SNES Classic will be there.... (I doubt it.)
