But first relationships rarely last. That's just how humans are.

Was she elderly?

I've always found it sad and fascinating how elderly people suddenly lose all meaning in their life..........so they find purpose by being nosy or super anal about everything.

Immaculate lawn care.

Calling the the police on a weekly basis because their neighbor is acting "suspicious" (which translates to them just doing yard work or something which trigger the elderly person for some strange reason).

Or being super nosy and wanting to know who everyone in the neighborhood is, where they work, who they are sleeping with, and what kind of grades their kids get in school so they can judge accordingly.

Elderly people are the worst. Small town retirees that have nothing better to do.....so they just bring everyone down.

Bullies are assholes. Sadly, they exist because there will always be people physically weaker than them. There's always a weaker kid. Bullying has decreased a lot in recent years. I just think what kids consider "bullying" is what has changed. Someone going on social media and typing some offensive things about your mom is NOT bullying.

Bullying, to me, is being physically assaulted, shoved, humiliated, etc. Turned upside-down and dunked in a toilet at school. Having people smear your locker in garbage. Just terrorizing your life. I don't think that happens as much anymore. It happened in the 70's, 80's and 90's a lot. Then kids found the internet and calmed the hell down.

And while weeding out weakness might have made evolutionary sense hundreds or thousands of years ago....it no longer has merit in our technological and civilized society.

Physically weaker humans can compensate by being clever, talented, wealthy or have high social standing. I look around me and it seems to be the golden age of the Beta male. Soy boys. Most of the self-made millionaires in Silicon Valley probably couldn't do 50 push-ups if their life depended on it....but that isn't stopping them from slaying vagina with their reputation and bank accounts.

*shrug*, It's my opinion.

I'm sure there are human behaviors you find gross, despicable, and just generally disagreeable to your personality/morals/beliefs/opinions.

I know I'm gunna get shit for what I'm about to say, but it's Gamefaqs....I'd get shit from people if I said I enjoyed eating apples. Besides, y'all are anonymous people who don't really matter to me, so this is the best place to talk about this kinda stuff.

I happen to be very grossed out by, and have very little respect, for people who feel compelled to have a different sexual partner every night. Even a different partner every week is too much. There is something deeply wrong with those people.

A deep sadness. Something damaged. Seriously low self-esteem. Daddy issues. Mommy issues. Emotional issues. Total lack of respect for human relationships. Quick-fix mentality. Living according to the whims of their spinal cord instead of their brains. Addictive personalities. Animalistic. Primitive. Juvenile.

And that's not even getting into the general health and safety dangers of sleeping around that much. Do you have any idea how many people have STDs out there? It's disgusting. And birth control has come a long way since the 60's....but it's still not perfect. Most human children happen to be born out of lust. Unplanned. Oftentimes unwanted. With parents who genuinely didn't want to be with each other long-term, let alone bring a LIFE into this world....so they just kinda settle....and deal with the consequences. That's extremely sad. Creating life for no better reason than the fact that they couldn't keep it in their pants. Inevitable end in a broken home. Kid grows up with even more issues. Probably grow up to be the type of brat that sleeps with a different person every night. Repeat the sick process.

*fires a gun into the air*

Aaaaaannndddd....this is where you retaliate by saying I'm just a jealous jerk who can't get laid, a slut-shamer, a bible thumper, or whatever other hilariously inaccurate insult you can make to somehow make this about me because my words struck a nerve with you.

I'm sure at first all news stories would be about the heroism and strife of the ordeal, but then once that all loses its appeal, the sex thing would be brought up to milk more money from the story.

Because it's easier to just dismiss the TC as being a pedophile than it is to put forth mental effort into discussing the dynamics of gender and sexism in the modern world.

Exactly. People, especially the media, assume everyone's a sexual tyrannosaurus, even in the face of tragedy and life-or-death situations. Because they can't just see a situation for what it is. They need to make it clickbaity. And what better way than to sexualize it?

Instead of "Man and teens survive on island for 5 years"

We'd probably get "Teens trapped on island with man. Sex slaves?"

lol

Which headline would get more people to read the article?

Pretty much the mentality of most people.

When it's a matter of survival I'd think sex would be the last thing on your mind anyway and the bond he forged with these two girls would be more like farther and daughter as apposed to sexual.

I really admire the way you think, and I wish the majority of people could think the same way.

One would hope that people would just be elated that they survived. But I suspect the majority of people would immediately want to know if the man "took advantage" of those girls on the island.

Which, as a man, I find really sad and offensive.

Like, put yourself in the parents' shoes. You find out after 5 years that both of your daughters survived the plane crash, and were living on an island with a strange adult man all this time.

Would you be happy? Or would you immediately want to know if this man touched your daughters? Or would that thought never cross your mind because you'd just be so happy they're alive and you'd want to meet the man and thank him for helping your daughters survive? Would you have the nerve to ask him if he 'touched' your daughters? Would you quietly sit your daughters down and ask them if anything sexual happened? Would that be offensive? Understandable? Or just acceptable sexism in 2018?

Yeah. It's pretty sad times we live in. Especially if you are male. Seen as guilty before proven innocent. Everything is given some kind of sexist, oppressive spin in the media. Sexualize otherwise normal situations just to create a buzz. That was the whole point of this thread. To point that phenomenon out.

Your question is difficult to answer because it depends on the man. His personality, etc.

14 is pretty limit, but probably not pedophilia at this point. By the time the girl is 16, it's 100% OK to sleep with her. So would he wait approximately 2 years to sleep with her? Maybe, again, depends on the type of person that he is and everything.

My question would rather be, if he chooses to sleep with the oldest: after 4 years on the island would he ALSO sleep with the youngest who's now 16 on the side?

LOL, those are all quite gross to think about.

I'm mostly focusing on the fact that a majority of society would immediately assume he DID sleep with one (or both) of the girls just because he's a guy.

Without any further details about their stay on the island. Before even seeing his picture or learning about his past. Simply having a random person pick up a newspaper....and see the headline "Man And Teenage Girls Survive On Island For 5 Years" and immediately think in the back of their mind...."Yeah, I bet he slept with those girls."

In a world without so much sexism and hostility towards men......a rational human's first instinct should be, "Wow! What an incredible story! I'm glad they survived! I wonder how they managed!? It must have been difficult!"

But I think now we live in a time where it's just "I want to see a picture of this creep's face. I wonder if he made the plane crash intentionally so he could get them alone."

Every airline is different. For a lot (in America) 12-17 year olds can fly without being accompanied by an adult. Some might cut the age to 13. It really depends on the airline. Also, it can depend on the situation. Like in my example, if the parents are away on business, and the children are being flown out to see them, it would make sense that they could fly unaccompanied, and then just be met by their parents at the airport. *shrug*

I never knew it was a thing. My BF flies his kids all the time between him and their mom. And one was pretty young. And was able to fly by themselves(They didn't live together, different moms). So, I guess I never really thought of it as a thing because I knew I could do that for certain airlines.

Yeah, I know back in the 60's, the laws were even more lax! My friend told me when she was 10, she flew out to see her brother (who was in the military). Unaccompanied. Just her little 10 year old self. If you had a plane ticket, and seemed mentally stable....they let you on.

Agreed. And I appreciate you being the first to actually answer this question.

You also pointed out that both girls would reach the age of consent (in most states) over the course of their time on the island. So it would be interesting to see the media try to accuse him of anything, and how they would even legally approach any of it.

And this is STILL without me ever explicitly stating that the man had sex with either of the girls. That is just the pessimistic and sexist conclusion everyone would be coming to before they learn any facts beyond "they survived on an island for 5 years".

So you are choosing not to answer. Okay. Why did you even bother to reply in the first place?

Also, I don't like the use of the word pedophiliac. Before there is any misinterpretation, I am not condoning or promoting it in the slightest. That's disgusting. In fact, it doesn't even occur in my scenario (in case you didn't notice). It's all about society's PERCEPTION of it by default simply because an older man is there with them.

I believe it is sexist to assume he did. And yet, a majority of people (in my opinion) would assume that the moment they read the article and found out they survived.

Which is just interesting to me.

Hey guys and gals. So this is a purely hypothetical situation. So please mind the fine details.

So, let's say there's a husband and wife who are wealthy and are away on a business trip. They have two beautiful daughters, ages 12 and 14, who are left in the care of their housekeeper during this time. Their parents' business trip ends up being extended significantly, so after a few weeks the parents decide to fly their daughters out to come visit them. FYI: 12 and 14 year olds can fly without being accompanied by an adult, depending on the airline.

So, the plane ends up having catastrophic engine failure/technical malfunctions that result in it crashing into the ocean, somewhere out in the middle of the Pacific. Nearly everyone dies immediately on impact. The pilot managed to flatten out the plane a little bit before impact so the plane didn't shred entirely apart when it hit the water. This manages to save 10 people from dying immediately. However, of those 10 people, 7 of them drown or die from shock within the hour. It's super tragic and sad.

Only 3 people remain. The two daughters, and a 35 year old man who just-so-happens to be a survival expert. Former military. Tough as nails dude.

The man keeps his cool and manages to find a large flotation device and other resources to get him and the two girls safely away from the wreckage and drift in the ocean. They eventually wash up on the shore of an island roughly the size of a small town. It has plenty of natural resources that can allow them to survive with the assistance of the man who is an expert in utilizing these resources. However, the island is small enough to not be on any charts, and is obviously uninhabited.

The next several months are agonizing, tedious, stressful, sad, and desperate. It's a situation hopefully none of us ever have to experience. Novels could be written about what transpires on this island. Movies that rival Cast Away, Lord of the Flies, Robinson Crusoe, etc.

The 35 year old man is a god damn legend, and eventually develops an efficient system for gathering food, fresh water, and medical care for all of them. They get a solid system down, and as the months go by, things become routine. Routine. Routine. Routine. It becomes very meditative. It becomes their world. Their life. Their entire means of survival. After the first year, it even becomes slightly easy.

And before they know it, 5 years have passed.

Miraculously, a low-flying airplane filming a documentary about coral reefs manages to spot their island, and smoke from their fire. The plane puts out a distress call. A day later, boats and helicopters arrive and rescue them. It makes every damn news headline imaginable.

Here's my question:

Ah, but proving a negative is not how the legal system works.

Can you prove to me, right now, that you aren't a pedophile?

Sure, you can just say you aren't a pedophile. Maybe even get a few friends or family members to reassure me that you aren't a pedophile. But the absence of evidence is still not evidence of absence.

They even said the rape kit found absolutely no evidence that she was raped. His DNA wasn't anywhere on her. That detail alone is pretty damn crucial. People just like to get emotional about this stuff, because they feel like it's sexist if they don't immediately believe her and incarcerate him.

It's a very volatile time to me a man. It's very sad.

Very strange time in our history.

Out of curiosity I do wonder why she decided to ruin his life, what he did to piss her off so much. But that's not really important, and ultimately victim blaming.

It's that spoiled princess, entitled mentality of many modern females.

He probably friend-zoned her or something. Damaged her pride. So she decided to lash out in the most efficient way possible: False rape allegations. The guaranteed way to ruin any man's life. No need for evidence. Just her word against his.

This crap is becoming frighteningly common. Just look at what Chris Hardwick is dealing with right now.

Sometimes it gets blurry, but it's still never justified. Like a girl and a guy get a little tipsy together. They have sex. She regrets it the next morning because she realizes the guy isn't as attractive as she thought he was. It's better for her ego to claim he raped her, than to just swallow her pride and admit she had a one night stand with a stranger.

You see, highly emotional feminists and white knight SJWs will read stories like this.....and immediately assume the man is guilty. They will rally behind the girl without thinking twice about it. Because to do anything else...would be "insensitive".

However, me, being a rational human being.....focus entirely on the MOST IMPORTANT details within the article. Such as:

She wrote "During the early hours of April 23, 2017, i was raped and sodomized. I woke up in Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity in Alex Goldman's bed confused, bloody, bruised, with ripped clothing and splinter. Alex Goldman is a rapist"

Okay. She woke up in his bed bloody and bruised. Those are pretty big claims. Also vague as hell. Bloody where? Her vagina? Her anus? Her face? Bruised where? How badly? Like evidence that someone hit her intentionally? Or bruised on her knees, shin, or hip from stumbling up the stairs when she was drunk? These details are crucial.

Also, it's 2018. Kids take pictures of EVERYTHING. A young woman who thinks she was assaulted....the FIRST thing she would do is go in the bathroom and start taking pictures of the damage. Being a victim is the coolest, hippest thing a person can be. It gives you the power to sue, endless supplies of sympathy, and she could probably even start a GoFunMe on social media. Did she take pictures of her injuries? If not, why not?

I mean, can there still be any doubt after this?

It sounds like she was just a drunk idiot that night and felt like ruining a guy's life because he friend-zoned her or something.

I really hate what the #MeToo is doing to a lot of young men. Guilty until proven innocent. And all these virtue-signalling companies firing men for no reason simply because of ALLEGATIONS and their "zero tolerance" policy.

It's shameful.

But that simple little comic strip alone could probably get someone fired if they made it their background at work.

Hanging out at Accounting, think yer being witty and silly. Make that your desktop background. Uh oh, here comes Kelly from Human Resources.....she's in a very grumpy mood and she walks by your desk and noticed your background. Instead of just swallowing her pride and writing it off as a harmless joke.....she is "sooooo offended" by the sexual nature of the joke....that she runs to her boss and whines.

This gets you fired.

Women like Kelly are the bane of my existence. I fucking hate those types of people.

Of course not.

Personally, I hate people who don't have a sense of humor. Always pretending to be offended by simple jokes. I don't know how they can function in this world, because Life can get incredibly dark at times, and you just need to be able to step back and see the humor in all the chaos.

Kinda like those parents who won't let their teenage son/daughter watch R-rated movies....because they are afraid their kid will be traumatized or something.

The kid isn't the one who is traumatized by that stuff. It's the weak ass PARENT who can't handle it, because they live in their overly sensitive, professionally offended bubble where everything is rainbows and sunshine.

Mention a dead baby joke, or a little sexist humor.....and their head explodes because they are sooooooo triggered.

Of course it would make me different from all the others. Because I would be the first person in history that took a photo/video clip of an alien that wasn't a pixelated, blurry, dark mess! Haha

You seem to be having some trouble wrapping your mind around this. I get it. You are skeptical. That's fine. We are talking about a totally theoretical situation, after all.

Do you know of any alien photographs/video clips circling the internet at this very moment that people are claiming to be real, and you feel conflicted on? Ones that aren't a blurry, dark, pixelated mess taken by some farmer with a middle school education back in the 1970's?

Because my photo/video would not be that.

I am talking about me taking a photograph/video, in 2018, in my backyard, in focus, with decent lighting, on a camera that was constructed in the 21st century....that cannot be easily misinterpreted as fake, because too many factors are working in its favor.

It's there. Bam. Clear as day. Easy to see. Easy to study. Holy shit, this dude actually took a photo/video of an alien!

It would make its rounds online. A couple news agencies would probably even want to interview me.

In fact, the photo/video is of such good quality, the only people who would be able to deny its legitimacy, are people who are lying to themselves...because they are more horrified by the prospect of it being real than being a hoax. But image experts would be able to study it pixel by pixel, and even crack into the hardware of the camera/phone I took the photo/video on to determine it was 100% legitimate and not altered in any way.

If you don't think this is possible, you should look into some of the stuff criminal investigators can do.

Haters and doubters would probably even be willing to argue with me about it, and offer to pay the fees to get it processed by professionals to prove its legitimacy. Which, of course, I would be more than happy to do.

But yeah. There are no limits to human ignorance. Even after it's proven to be an unaltered, legitimate photograph/video, there would still be people who refuse to believe it, because the idea just terrifies them. Kinda like how we can still have "flat-earthers" even in 2018. But those people are mentally ill and can usually be dismissed with ease.

They will probably assume the image analysts were in on it. Or I'm an ISIS sleeper agent, trying to prove Jesus is a lie. Or the whole thing is a publicity stunt for some new movie coming out. Or I'm a Scientologist. All of which would be laughable and probably only assist me in looking even more legit.

We've seen that stuff before. The lie eventually comes out. But this photo would be different. This would be a one of a kind. The first of its kind. Little room for doubt.

Personally, I'd be extremely entertained watching people try to prove its fake, knowing damn well it isn't, because I was the one who took the photo and saw the damn alien with my own eyes.

How fascinating it would be. To know something is real, but other people refusing to process it.

Internet trolls who insist its fake, even posting fake proof that I'm an independent film maker and the whole thing was just designed to bring attention to my website or some shit. The trolls even go so far as to get ahold of pictures of me, steal my identity, and CREATE fake websites where I'm admitting that it was all a lie to promote my new movie. So they can say, "SEE!!?! He's a fraud!!!" lol

It's all good, dude. I get it. Yer skeptical of a theoretical situation.

I call bullshit.

If that's what you do, why wouldn't other people? It's not like people can't photoshop HD pictures.

But basically you think your HD camera is capable of instantly snapping a picture of something without having to focus? And also that you posting one picture of a UFO on your facebook would reach hundreds of thousands of people?

If it was a photo that was actually good quality, and was a REAL alien.....people would take note. Because it would probably be unlike anything anyone has seen before.

It would go viral.

Also, most people have a lot of friends on social media. I have a lot. It would spread. I would actually make sure it spreads. Being the one who took the picture, I would actively seek out professionals to analyze my photo. Experts have all kinds of tricks they can use to tell if a photo was altered. Once its confirmed to be real, it would take off even more from there.

I understand your skepticism. I really do. So I can understand why you would find this scenario hard to imagine.....and that's mainly because it has never happened before. Because no one has ever taken a photo of a real alien.

Which brings us full circle. lol

It's 2018.

90% of Americans have Smartphones that can take HD photos, or, at the very least, reasonably decent cameras on whatever phone they do have. Even flip phones comes with built-in cameras.

People are obsessed with taking pictures. They take pictures of their food, their friends, themselves, nature, pretty much everything around them to document their life and try to make it appear cooler than it is on social media for the sake of validation.

At any given moment, someone is taking a picture of something, somewhere.

So you mean to tell me that during all this time of cameras and video.....NOBODY has been able to take a non-blurry photo of an alien space craft? Bigfoot? Little green men digging around in your garbage?

They are always out-of-focus, pixelated jokes. I call bullshit.

We have photographs of other planets in our solar system, for christssake. You can see the rings of Saturn. A lot of people have dash-cams in their vehicles. Most intersections on streets have cameras on them. ATMs have cameras on them. People have HD cameras for security outside their homes. The National Geological Survey is always taking pictures of every inch of the planet on a daily basis with satellite imagery.

If aliens exist.....we would have solid evidence of them by now.

If they truly exist, they havent directly interacted with mankind yet. Not on or near our planet, at least.

And if you think the government is just silencing people who DO discover them......I call bullshit on that as well. If I snapped a HD photograph of an alien scrambling around in my backyard....I would post that shit on social media immediately. Hundreds of people would see it within minutes. Many of those people would save the image on their own computer and share it with their friends as well. Professional photographers and image analysts would be able to verify its credibility within days. The government wouldn't know I took the photo until weeks later, and by then, it would be too late for them to silence anyone. And if I mysteriously died in a car accident or something, it would accomplish nothing because the photo has already made its rounds. Government would have to murder/silence hundreds of thousands of people by this point, and it would only make them look shadier when everyone who has stumbled across the photo has mysteriously died or something. Hell, such an action by the government would only make the picture MORE legit, because then people would catch on that the government doesn't want people to see it.

So yeah....

In the 21st century, people are making it a habit to identify themselves entirely by their gender or ethnicity.

Psychologically, this makes perfect sense. Especially with the whole "victimhood" mentality a lot of people are embracing these days.

No matter what you do......you can always dismiss your actions by blaming your gender or ethnicity.

Have you fallen on hard times? Are you not as happy as you'd like to be? Well that's simply because you are a <insert gender here>.

Completely removes all accountability. No one needs to hold themselves responsible for their place in life. Everything is the result of your reproductive bits or what shade your skin happens to be.

I have greatly enjoyed the past several years, watching people around me behave this way. Once you are tuned into it, it's impossible not to see it.

What's to keep one of your exgirlfriends from going onto social media right now....and claiming that you sexually/emotionally abused her at some point during the relationship?

Heck, even if you've never had a girlfriend. What's to keep some bitter classmate/coworker from doing it?

Obviously, we will assume (for the sake of this narrative) that her claim is 100% false (because I know you are good guys), but let's just say that she has a lot of friends, some of whom back up her story with more lies, and social media eats it up like sweet sweet drama. Most people believe her. And the story spreads so hard and so fast....that even total strangers just assume that "well, there wouldn't be so much smoke unless there was a fire."

Next thing you know, your boss calls you in their office at work....and they reluctantly tell you that they have to let you go. Even though there is absolutely no evidence of your guilt....they have to let you go just because "it looks bad"....and they don't want anyone in the community to think the company you work(ed) for condones your actions by allowing you to remain an employee there. They are just looking to save face.

What's to keep this from happening?

How do you guys feel about situations like this?

At the end of the day, we are just brains attached to spinal cords.....all the rest is just a complex life support system for those two things.

And that brain and spinal cord are subject to so many chemicals and electrical impulses that it is astounding we exist at all.

Everything impacts the choices we make, and while it might seem like we have free will....we are just acting in response to things that have been thrust upon us, oftentimes against our will.

I don't know about you guys, but I never had any say in who my parents would be, what country I would be born in, how tall I would be, what kind of hormonal levels I would have, what genetic predispositions I would have.....and yet all of those things have had a PROFOUND effect on shaping me into the person I am today. Had a chemical or two been tweaks a little differently, I could have turned out to be a serial killer.

Some people don't like to think about this, because they insist on everyone being in control of their lives, and how everyone has the choice to not do certain things. But that's also easy for them to say, when their actions have, so far, allowed them to just be normal run-o-the-mill people.

Our free will manifests itself as self control.

Yes, when you hit puberty you have urges, and you may not be in complete control of your body and its functions, but you do have a choice in how you react to it.

You see. I agree with you, to an extent.

I think that self-control is easier for some...but not for others. This can be due to various things: genetics, neurological disorders, hormonal imbalances, etc.

I have known guys who started getting soooooo horny in their adolescence, that they were borderline disgusting/rapey/twitchy/fidgety. It impacted every aspect of their being. They couldn't even focus in class because they were so distracted by the females in the room. They simply couldn't operate like a rational human being because so many nasty chemicals were pumping through their bodies, telling them it was breed o'clock. I actually felt kinda sorry for them. They were always on the prowl for a mate. Unable to think of anything else.

Meanwhile, some people totally lack those types of hormones, and have a nice smooth transition through puberty. Some have imbalances so extreme that they have virtually NO sex drive at all, and just live a quiet life reading books and staying the hell away from people.

And those hormonal fluctuations play an ENORMOUS factor on the outcomes of their lives/personality/happiness.

All because of some biological things going on inside your body that you have NO control over.

Hahaha, hey now! Don't bash me for thinking about rape.

I was thinking about the CONCEPT of rape, as well as the dynamics of consent that go around that.......and how the whole thing could become a mess if a powerful sex pheromone was introduced.

We're talking about something that borders on science-fiction, btw.

But it also brings into question free will......because the idea of free will has always interested me, because it's kind of a big deal....and also might not even exist.

How can humans truly have free will when so much of our behavior is predetermined by hormones, instincts, natural impulses, genetics, neurological disorders, etc?

Why is it that when most human males reach the age of 14...they start wanting to put their reproductive bits into any hole they can find? Nature made us that way. And I think that's actually kinda messed up.

If there's a God out there.....wouldn't it have been nicer to turn 14 and suddenly have this powerful urge to cure cancer or something?

But nope.

We just want to breed.

I think that example alone puts a pretty big damper on our free will.

(don't mind me, i love cocaine).
