Poll of the Day obviously inspired this.

When I ask people this question, things always get interesting. Of course....most guys will say women have more privilege. Women will always say men have more privilege. And a few people will require a breakdown of what kinda "privilege" I'm talking about.

Privilege can be interpreted a lot of ways, but I generally see it as the ability to do things freely, easily, comfortably, and happily in a society that has your back. Your pursuit of happiness....and how much easier it might be for you to acquire it vs. someone who is less privileged.

So what do you think? And why? Men or women? I'll give my own answer later, if anyone cares. I just don't want to start the conversation with bias.

Ah, what a damn good series.

I remember way back in 1996 (or was it 1995?) my parents randomly got a Sega Saturn for Christmas. No idea why. My brother and I didn't even know what it was. We were only playing Super Nintendo up to that point. We never asked for it. We didn't even know what games were out for it. But they got Panzer Dragoon, Virtual Cop, Virtual Fighter, Sonic 3D Blast, and some random racing games I think. And NiGHTS, with the weird big fat special controller.

But Panzer Dragoon changed my gaming life.

The intro cinema blew my mind. It was my first legit 3D game. It kinda freaked my brain out and took a while to get the hang of. I died a lot. But eventually got the hang of it. I loved the post apocalyptic ruined quiet mysterious world. I loved the music. I loved the bio-mechanical monsters. It was unlike anything I had ever seen, and the amount of art direction was astounding. It was truly its own world.

And then I got Zwei, and loved it even more.

Then I went on eBay and ended up spending $115 for Saga, which blew me away even harder.

And then Orta came out years later, and it was literally the ONLY reason I bought an Xbox....and Orta was the best game I had ever played.

Those games were just the best. So beautiful. All those homing lasers, beautiful music, crazy world, crazy monsters, riding a dragon. Like a dream. God damn.

I heard they made some crappy "Crimson Dragon" a while back. I watched some videos of it on YouTube, but it was a total joke of a game. Looked like crap. I don't know what happened or what they were thinking. But it was definitely no Panzer Dragoon.

I wish they'd bring the series back. It was really onto something.

A direct sequel to Saga would be cool. There's nothing wrong with rail shooters. With modern tech they could probably make an absolutely insane Panzer Dragoon game. And I can't imagine how anyone would try to argue that the formula is "dated" when games like Celeste can get rave reviews.

It was a great conversation-starter. It also held a charge for TWO WEEKS. That's right. Calling and texting on a regular basis, and I only ever had to charge it every two weeks. I'd also turn it off completely when I'd go to sleep. Apparently that's unusual based on what my friends told me.

Sadly, I had to finally upgrade to a "real" phone a few months ago, because it got to the point where people would send me texts with emojis or other multimedia content and it would display on my dinosaur phone as "#&#^JDHA&^@%@%!()(#*#&^!JDHDGS^@&#*$((IDH" and that isn't cool.

I patiently await the day we download emotions and memories and babies and Jesus.

Demon's Souls. I think I spent 3 or 4 straight hours.....making my one sorceress look like a particular Victoria's Secret fashion model. It turned out quite lovely. In fact, she was so lovely, when people would join my game, they'd stop and bust out their telescope and stare at her face! I got a few private message compliments as well.

There's so much you can do in those games when it comes to the tiniest details of the face.

It's also hilarious how easily your character can go from reasonably attractive....to full-on derp face with just a few pixelated tilts of the eyebrows or nose arch. LOL

Beauty is a precious gem that you really gotta mine for.

Ohhhh, I assumed that if you participate in the polls, that's the same as needing to have an account. And the only reason to have an account is to use the message boards.

Honestly....who would create an account to ONLY participate in the poll of the day? lol

They're using the boards, too. C'mon now.

I thought if it ever came out how old you were, even if you JOKED about being 9 years old, would get you banned?

Did the poll of the day just wipe 104 people's accounts?

I remember a guy on one of the old Assassin's Creed boards, years ago, was getting into an argument with a troll, and the troll was like, "Jeez, you argue like a 9 year old!!!" and the guy replied, "Yeah, because I'm 9 years old."

And he got banned.

Came back with another account and said that Gamefaqs deleted his account because you can't use the boards if you are under the age of 12 or something. He said he was being sarcastic. Gamefaqs said it was in their policy that they have to delete the account, regardless of sarcasm.

If I had to put my finger on one overriding problem, especially in the U.S. (where I live), I would say passive aggression. In our Facebook-as-Big-Brother culture, there is no acceptable social outlet for anger or displeasure. Everybody is forced to play nice and be polite not because they genuinely want to, but because they fear punishment, being dragged on the Internet, etc. The end result is that no one is what they seem, and everybody is bottling things up that should be expressed openly. ... That is no way to live, IMO.

Damn...that's some pretty heavy stuff right there.

We are all pretending to be people we aren't, because we're afraid of becoming social outcasts, which is extremely easy with our internet culture.

Mess up just ONCE....and it goes viral and will stay with you forever.

Some people genuinely believe that overpopulation is a myth. But they also havent gone skydiving before.

I went skydiving last summer....and it was very eye-opening. When I was coming down through the sky (and I live in a relatively rural area) the sky smelled and tasted....funky. Stuff we're putting in the atmosphere. Stuff that factories and vehicles emit. Ammonia, smoke, sulfur, and a dozen other things I couldn't quite detect, but clearly manmade. I didn't realize how gross it smelled up there. We are ruining this planet.

Quality of life is more important than quantity. But we don't seem to care. People just follow their base instincts and breed without questioning for even a second if they'd actually make a good parent, and if they are truly prepared to love and support it.

I'd also like to add "political correctness" as a huge problem facing society.

In my original message, I was going to say "borderline autistic sociopath" at the end there. Before it would post, Gamefaqs warned me that using the word "autistic" in any way could "trigger" some people.

Aye.

Those SJW tears.

Even if they aren't offended, they'll pretend they're offended if they know it could get someone in trouble.

Poll of the day, and all that. What are your thoughts?

I'm sure you have better things to do, but I'm just gunna rant about mine for the moment, because why not? If you aren't interested, then you can just move on.



I believe things are getting generally better, but we still have a lot of work ahead of us.

Technology and entertainment are wonderful things, and have helped improve our lives for the most part. But our technology is a double-bladed sword that cuts both ways. It's also made us lazier, more disconnected, more greedy, more insatiable, and it is butchering our human relationships.

But if I had to choose only ONE aspect of humanity I absolutely cannot stand....it would be our breeding habits.

War sucks. Pain sucks. Homelessness, starvation, disease....those are all horrible horrible things.

But our breeding habits are where it all starts, and humanity sucks at moderating how much we breed...and (more importantly) WHO we breed with.


I truly believe that something went wrong with our evolution, that made us instinctively prioritize certain traits in a mate....that simply aren't applicable anymore. It might have worked wonderfully thousands of years ago...but a lot has changed since then.

Women don't need to have massive hips to successfully bear children anymore. And men don't need to be tall and muscular to protect her from sabretooth tiger attacks anymore. When you look at the modern dating scene....we are still behaving like cavemen.......and all that is really doing is giving birth to future criminals.

There are a lot of people swimming in the sea of Lust.......who honestly havent considered whether or not their mate would actually make a good PARENT.

Sure, they might be an awesome and exciting LOVER......but do you really want this person raising your kid?

Ooops, too late now! She's pregnant. You gunna abort, or are you just gunna hope for the best?

Failed relationships, failed marriages, broken homes, parentless children. Kids with daddy issues. Mommy issues. No positive male role model. No positive female role model. Kids gets raised by the internet and movies. Becomes a borderline sociopath.

Humanity is a mess, because we don't think about the longterm. We only think about the now.
