TopicDo you think a pheromone exists that can cause someone to unwillingly....well...

....you know.

Like....want it?

I'm sure some of you have been around animals. Maybe you've worked on a farm. Or maybe you had a cat and never got her fixed. And you see what happens when they are in heat. Animals lose all rationality (what little they had to begin with) and all self-control.

All because of pheromones. Hormones. Instinct. The drive to breed.

Humans do this as well, just not quite to suuuuuch an extreme....(yet).

I was thinking about rape the other day, and I was wondering if maybe there are some people in this world who have some kind of endocrine disorder...or something with their brain, hormonal fluctuations, nervous system, <insert scientific term here> that causes them to emit a concentrated sex pheromone that makes them significantly more appealing to the opposite sex.

And I was wondering if, with the manipulation of technology and genetics, if scientists could increase this effect 1000x and make it into a phermone that literally makes people go into heat around you. Like cats. Or worse.

And, if by doing that.....if you could be arrested for "rape".

I've noticed that lack of sleep can give you nearly the same exact symptoms as being drunk. Dizzy. Loopy. Loss of self-awareness. Visions. Bleeding nipples. Etc.

Lack of eating, as well.

Sometimes staring into the eyes of a goat can cause it, too.

It came from females.

Most human females (especially in high school), assume that if a guy isn't attractive/athletic, he needs to compensate by having "nerdy" hobbies to get him through his days: Reading, writing, drawing, video games, crafts, science, philosophy, things that don't require looks or athleticism to excel at.

Which is very offensive, because a lot of attractive males can have strong interests in those things too.

And a lot of ugly guys can still be entirely stupid and boring and also hate sports.

At the end of the day, they're just generalizations that allow people to dismiss each other more easily, because getting to know someone and caring about them as a person takes time and effort, and people would rather just not care.

LOL

What the hell is wrong with you kids these days?

The fact that anyone can sleep with someone and not have feelings for them in SOME way, is borderline psychopathic behavior, imo.

The moment she decided to cuddle and/or have sex with him, should have been the indicator of all indicators that she was into him. If she "ignored" him after that, it's probably because she was busy with work. Or, like I said before, is a psychopath.

People really need to learn how to be decent human beings in the 21st century. They use and abuse each other, and then ghost them when they grow bored so they never have to be held accountable for their actions. Then repeat the process with someone else they also met on a god damn app.

hahahahahahaa, kids being kids.

You have heard of hook-ups and one night stands, right?

Of course I've heard of them. I also know that in most "hook-ups" and "one-night stands" (because I've been surrounded by immature children my whole life who participate in that shallow lifestyle) ONE of them always wishes it could have developed into something more. Always. One person wanted the other more. It's never exactly a 50/50 "let's just use each other" kinda deal. One person is always hoping it leads to more. One is always being slightly dishonest with their intentions.

Besides, if hook-ups and one-night stands are so good, why did they only do it once?

You'd logically assume that if it was great, they'd schedule a second encounter. Then a third. Then a forth. In which case, why not just stfu and date them? LOL

People are psychopaths these days. Immature psychopaths.

While it may not always be exactly 50/50, it's not that one always wants more. And who said it's always good. Some people are better than others. Also, if someone hasn't had sex in a while, maybe they just want to have sex with someone. But maybe it's not a good time in their life for a relationship. And a hook-up doesn't always have to be a one time thing. People do have fuck buddies and Friends with benifits and other no strings attached relationships. And maybe they were good, but they know people that are better. And things like that. But it is definitely not someone "always" wants the relationship to be more. Some people can be adults about it...

Yeah, but sexes will never be equal everywhere because the fact that they are different immediately means they can't be equal. That's the very definition of what it means to be different, to not be of an equal state. Both sexes have advantages and disadvantages, expecting everyone to be treated the exact same sounds like some dystopic nightmare situation. I'm all for people being treated well, and I don't think having to pay a higher premium on car insurance is really a violation of your right to pursue happiness. That's more of a "you" issue than a social issue. I am willing to bet that at least 90% of males do not care or have an opinion on car insurance differences.

Also, why are you so hung up on car insurance? Did you have a bad legal issue once or something? Genuine question here, not attempting to belittle you.

I totally agree that the sexes will never be equal everywhere. And yet.....the boyscouts are now dead because enough parents and bratty young girls pushed for equality to the point where a boy-exclusive organization was seen as sexist.

So now that they won their little hissy fit.....the bar has been raised. So now we should start spreading this glorious "equality" to other things.

And the first thing that came to mind was car insurance. **shrugs**

Um, completely removing the driver's gender from the equation would be, like, the easiest thing in the world to do.

It would, but then everyone pays more across the board. You're asking to have your more careful personality taken into account. That's highly impractical for a new driver, and happens anyway as you spend more time driving and have a more concrete, personalized basis for determining your risk level.

Zeus posted...
Which again comes back to my earlier observation -- health insurance companies statistically determined that women consume more services than men and, as such, want to charge them more. However, that's illegal on the basis of discrimination. Why shouldn't auto insurance discrimination against males receive that same treatment?

A number of reasons:

-That difference applies across an entire lifetime, whereas the gender-based difference in car insurance evens out as one accumulates a driving record
-People who are applying for health insurance have medical histories already, providing more salient variables that insurance companies can consider. New drivers don't yet have driving records to consider
-Not having health insurance kills people. Not having car insurance makes people take the bus.

Again, I wouldn't be opposed to giving car insurance the same treatment, but it's understandable that it hasn't happened.

What's wrong with everyone paying more across the board? Women should be paying just as much as men. If that requires women's rate's to go up to equalize with men....that's called gender equality, bro.

Are you against gender equality?

It would be equality to compensate for the men who would otherwise be paying MORE simply because they are male in the previous system.

Seriously. Think about it for a moment. In the era of #MeToo and all that, if it was made into national headlines that FEMALES paid higher car insurance premiums than their male counterparts....there would be riots in the street until it got evened out.

But, for some strange reason, when men are the victim....nobody says a word.

If boyscouts want to get rid of gender, car insurance companies should too. Plus, car insurance companies impact a helluva lot more people than the boyscouts.

I already did disagree. It's based on statistics. We don't have the manpower, time, or money to run a detailed diagnostic on each insurance holder in the country to ensure a fair pricing, so instead, we look at statistics and go from there. Males ages 18-24 in 2 door cars are the most prone to causing accidents according to these companies, so hey, you're gonna pay extra. That's just life, man. Everyone takes their turn getting it dealt to them.

And what about equally-valued vehicles that have different premiums? Because that also happens, based on how likely said models are to be involved in an accident.

Look, we can go down that rabbit hole allllll day, buddy. But it's obvious that it would only be an attempt to ignore the discrimination against gender.

What I am ultimately saying....is that insurance premiums should NOT be determined based on the driver's gender. In fact, it shouldn't even be a question the insurance companies ask you.

Does anyone disagree with that? If so, why? Because you think male drivers are "more aggressive" and "prone to accidents" therefore justifying higher premiums by default? That's sexist.

And I would LOVE to know why the media is making such a big fuss about this whole Boyscouts controversy, but nobody is making a peep about gender-based insurance premiums that affect a helluva lot more people.

It's called statistics, in fact. Stop being salty. Society doesn't revolve around you or me, it works off of averages and baselines. The sooner you embrace that, the less annoyed you're going to be with things.

If girls want to join the boyscouts, and if society wants to remove all gender boundaries....they can't cherry pick their oppression.

They need to do it all across the board, or not at all.

If girls can join the boyscouts, then 16 year old boys should pay the same premiums on their car insurance as 16 year old girls.

If people want girls to be able to join the boyscouts, and "gender" to not even exist anymore, and for everyone to be treated equally....then 16 year old boys and 16 year old girls should have the exact same insurance premiums. The only thing that should impact the difference in the premium is what type of vehicle they drive, and how long they have been driving, and plus or minus any accidents.

But same model car? Same age? Twin brothers and sisters who share a car? Same birthday? Same amount of driving experience? The boy's insurance premium will be higher. And that should be illegal.

All this whining about gender identity, oppression, fairness, exclusion, hurt feelings, and victimhood.....

And yet I don't hear a single person talking about the fact that 16 year old BOYS have higher car insurance rates than 16 year olds girls....simply due to the fact that they were born with certain genitalia between their legs.

I was a responsible, calm, collected, and intelligent 16 year old. Why did I have to pay higher insurance premiums than the stupid, careless, irresponsible 16 year old girls who loved to speed in their little Dodge Neons to school?

Sexist.

But no one likes to talk about that.

Instead, they'd rather talk about The Boyscouts. The military paying for transition surgery. Who can use which restroom. Using gender-neutral pronouns on college campuses so the kids don't get offended.

Sheesh.

The best way, in my opinion, requires a very specific combination of situations and the assistance of others:

1.) Have friends. The more diverse their characters, the better (aka: don't just hang with the same 3 people who are all basically the same people with same interests. Get some variety. Have some athlete friends. Have some graphic designer friends. Have some electrician friends. Introverts, extroverts. Friends who like to party, friends who like to Netflix.)

2.) Encourage socializing as large groups on a camping trip, paintball trips, hiking trips, house parties.

3.) Make sure they invite THEIR friends you havent met!

That's it. Seriously. That recipe alone leads to strong relationships that will last. Friends-of-friends. You meet them in a safe, comfortable environment, and you both have at least ONE strong friend in common. They get to see you interact with them in a casual, honest way....and you get to see them interact in a casual and honest way. You get to see the true version of a total stranger, and that's how you get to know someone.

And if you decide to start dating each other, you will be able to go out with that group of friends again and it will be super comfortable because everyone is friends.

And, if these people are "truly" your friends.......they will support your relationship, which is EXTREMELY helpful.

Why would you be attracted to a video game character? is the real question you should be asking.

Attraction to the physical aesthetics of the human anatomy.

Just because it's represented in a photograph, a painting, a digital drawing, a 3D rendition....doesn't magically make it lack that attractiveness.

Do you have a significant other? If they took a sexy photo of themselves, would you not think that photo was attractive on some level? Or would that be weird, because "why would I be attracted to a photograph?"

It's what the photograph represents. What is displays. What it looks like.

Even lines on a page can be sexy if drawn the right way.

Hold on a sec. Were you triggered that I got a kick out of people lying on a poll?

Trying to wrap my mind around the dishonesty here. lol

Sure, maybe it's a little embarrassing in certain social situations, among certain types of people, and not something you'd often come out and say to someone. But an anonymous message board poll? 6% of people still feel the need to lie about being attracted to a video game character at some point in time? Weird.

Is the negative stigma of sex and video games THAT bad still? Sheesh.

Sure, that 6% might include elderly people who lost their sex drive (hard to imagine elderly people using gamefaqs), or maybe kids who havent gone through puberty yet (why do you little brats have accounts anyway!?) but I don't think that's true. I think we just have some dishonest people.

Video games are like movies and comic books....where pretty much every character has a perfect body. How could anyone deny their attraction to them?
