Think about all the babies that died.

1: random unborn babies probably turned to dust inside their confused moms
2: Pregnant moms dusted, leaving their unborn babies to just plop to the ground and die, or die from not having the parent lifeline
3: Mothers taking care of babies dusted, leaving babies to starve to death if there weren't anyone else around
4: babies in general would have just died from turning to dust
5: babies in vehicles/aircraft likely died if the driver turned to dust
6: All the poor NICU babies in hospitals of all the caretakers turned to dust

So many dead babies

Think of how many people are currently responsible for performing surgery, power plant safety, operating a train, driving a car, or piloting a plane. Now remove half of them while leaving the thing in it's current state and see how long it is before that becomes an issue in itself.

He's gunna come home to see a positive pregnancy test in the bathroom.....and then realize she was one of the ones who got erased (and the baby inside her).

You're underestimating just how much of a literal god the gauntlet makes Thanos.

Realistically, he took every single one of those factors into account in the split-second he acted, because for him time did not exist as we know it, and he essentially had omniscience and an effectively infinite amount of time to individually consider every single life-form in the entire universe, weigh their value and circumstances individually, and then sort each into the "live" or "die" category based entirely on which would create the least amount of disruption.

Keep in mind, the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. The moment he put the sixth stone on the gauntlet, he wasn't just a mortal with god-like powers, he basically WAS God. He absolutely would have taken those things into account in the moment.
