I find this extremely hard to believe. Not even a rom? Not even a digital-only copy? So that means they've never even played it?

I am really starting to feel my age....

Animals/early humans weren't exactly picky when it comes to eating food.

They didn't know when their next meal would come, so they wpuld eat what's there

Savage Neanderthals, perhaps. But not our ancestral homo-sapiens. We did a lot of thinking ahead. Planning. Storing food in advance of seasons.

Neanderthals would have ALL picked number 1. "UGH!! Food! RIGHT THERE!! NOW!!! FOOD!"

Homo-sapiens are more complicated and go for numbers like 7 for the reasons I gave.

Pretty fascinating, isn't it?

Well, it all comes down to our monkey brains. The hunter/gatherer mindset.

When you see 10 options before you, some pretty strange things happen. Especially when they are displayed to you in an order.

You immediately ignore the first, because you know there are 9 other options to follow. Number 1 might as well not even be there, because we are only thinking ahead. Trying to find that better resource. That better option. Something we won't regret making.

Option 10 will be ignored for the exact same reason.

You'd consider one of the options in the middle....because it's a nice sandwich of possibilities. But yer gunna lean more towards the last half of the options, because you want to reassure yourself you've at least looked at all the other options before settling on your final choice. You don't want to pick something like 2 or 3....because that's so early in the line-up, someone might grab you by the shoulders and ask, "Jeez! You picked 2!? Did you even look at all the options!?"

And you don't want to pick 5 or 6, because you'd think, "Damn, I really played it safe, didn't I?"

There's no reward in playing it too safe. You gotta take risks sometimes. Travel beyond your territory. Outside the comfort zone. That's usually where the best hunting grounds are....and trees and bushes with fruits and vegetables that haven't been picked clean already by your local tribes.

8 and 9 are dumb for similar reasons 2 and 3 are dumb.

Ahhhh....but then there's magical number 7. Just chillin' there like a naked woman on a beach. Just glistening in the sun. Whew. Damn, girl. You must do Pilates, like, every day, eh?
