If a parent cant teach their kids to not enter a yard without permission or at least not to enter a yard with a dog in it, then those parents deserve to be in jail for being failures.

This is a bad take. The two things everyone knows about kids is they don't always obey adults and they love dogs. If you actually believe pit/similar dog breeds are orders of magnitudes more dangerous than other dogs then they just don't belong in suburban neighborhoods, anymore than a lion or a front yard booby trap does.

This is more commonly an issue of people trying to view comparisons on YouTube while their auto quality setting caps the whole video at 30 fps. Especially an issue before internet got so fast everywhere.

The Singapore government uses draconian criminal laws and civil defamation suits to harass and prosecute critical voices, including activists, bloggers, and journalists. There is little freedom of assembly.

The Hostile Information Campaigns provisions of the overbroad and ambiguous Foreign Interference (Counter-Measures) Act (FICA) went into effect on July 7. The law gives sweeping powers to the home minister to require removal or disabling of online content, publication of mandatory messages drafted by the government, banning of apps from being downloaded in Singapore, and disclosure of information by internet and social media companies. The ministers authority under the law is reinforced by severe criminal penalties and judicial review is limited to only procedural matters.

Singapores restrictive laws are frequently used against activists and media critical of the government. On February 25, activist Jolovan Wham was sentenced to a fine of S$3,000 (US$2,100), or 15 days in prison in lieu of the fine, under the Public Order Act. The assembly for which he was convicted consisted of posing for a photo outside the courthouse while holding a sign calling for charges against journalist Terry Xu to be dropped. On September 9, a High Court judge dismissed his appeal. However, on March 3, the Attorney Generals Office withdrew charges of unlawful assembly against Wham for an earlier instance in which he stood in public holding a sign with a smiley face.

In June, police called in for questioning activists Kirsten Han and Rocky Howe about a four-person vigil in March outside Changi Prison, and a photograph taken outside the prison in April. The vigil was held the night of Abdul Kahar Othmans execution, and the photograph was taken two nights before Nagaenthran Dharmalingams hanging. They are being investigated for violating the Public Order Act. Han potentially faces a fine of up to S$5,000 (US$3,500) and imprisonment for up to six months under Criminal Procedure Code section 39 for refusing to surrender passwords to her social media accounts.

This idea that the fact the US has been an ally of Israel in history translates to everyone implicitly being okay with if Israel had done this hypothetically in the past is ludicrous. And well, it's not even historical! When Israel launched brutal attacks in Lebanon, Reagan called it a holocaust and withheld several types of aid at different times.

The only way you can legitimize Israel's actions and the US's support and covering for those actions is by reducing or removing nearly all facts of the matter. It's just a 'war', so Israel's actions are in whole self defense, and they haven't even killed scores of women and children because Gaza made up their body count even though Israel and US intelligence uses Gaza's body count as the most accurate figure.

Millions of Americans start the new year optimistic with a resolution to get healthier and a gym membership, but then taper off in attendance over time. Suggesting the issue is not defeatism or the initial hump but commitment and renewing motivation.

Most lifestyle advice is useless because of differences in people's genetics, environment, work, finances, personal history, obligations, etc that all adds up to completely different lived experiences. I wouldnt call it bigotry. Nobody treated Bashir any differently once they found out about his genetics. They have laws against genetic modification because they dont want another war to start over it.

The only reason Julian even got to keep his medical license was a deal struck with high authorities in Starfleet that involved his dad going to prison, and that was probably only possible because Julian was an officer favored by the captain of the most important space station in a galactic war. He had to keep the most defining element of his childhood a secret from everyone he knew just so he could work a job healing people. The law is bigoted, at the very least. Banning genetic engineering is one thing, but other-izing child subjects of it was messed up. Plus if anything you'd expect that aspect of the law to lead to the radicalization of enhanced humans.

Not really much head canon, but eatablished canon at least by DS9 standards. The video was posted that basically show how a Ferengi and an admittedly dissident Cardassian view the Federation as an insidious, creeping power always spreading, and yet still better than the alternatives and the only thing that can protect them.

They don't discuss how the Federation is a "creeping power always spreading", that was Eddington's critique of the Federation with calling them "worse than the Borg". The root beer scene is about how jarring and repulsive human/Federation culture is to the average patriotic Ferengi and Cardassian ("bubbly, cloying, happy"), but after prolonged exposure they come to reluctantly appreciate it. It's a scene about why the Federation is good and why Ferenginar will become a better place at the end of the series.
