Market solutions are bad at educating a full population for a ton of reasons (even if they are great for people who can pay)

So the government should make sure everyone receives education

I look forward to reading all of the arguments for and against, even though both early raves and pans seem to be operating under the reductive assumption that it's one of three things: (1) an alternative future history of a divided United States that's intended as a cautionary tale; (2) a technically proficient but empty-headed misery porn compendium that derives much of its power from images redolent of genocide and/or lynching, but ducks political specifics so as not to offend reactionaries; or (3) a visionary spectacular with ultra-violence that might or might not have something important to say but will definitely look and sound great on an expensive home entertainment system.

As it turns out, "Civil War" is mainly something else: a thought experiment about journalistic ethics, set in a future United States, yet reminiscent of classic movies about Western journalists covering the collapse of foreign countries, such as "The Year of Living Dangerously," "Salvador," "Under Fire," and "Welcome to Sarajevo."

Specifically, and most originally, "Civil War" is a portrait of the mentality of pure reporters, the types of people who are less interested in explaining what things "mean" (in the manner of an editorial writer or "pundit") than in getting the scoop before the competition, by any means necessary. Whether the scoop takes the form of a written story, a TV news segment, or a still photo that wins a Pulitzer, the quest for the scoop is an end unto itself, and it's bound up with the massive dopamine hit that that comes from putting oneself in harm's way. The kinds of obsessive war correspondents who rarely come back to their own countries don't care about the real-world impact of the political realities encoded within the epic violence they chronicle, or else compartmentalize it to stay focused.

In the past couple years it quickly became very obvious how fragile our internet and its living history is.

The current landscape of the United States economy has been shaped by neoliberal policy. That doesn't mean people who advance neoliberalism (essentially most US politicians) will say the US is fine right now, but their solution to X or Y problem will stay within the guardrails of neoliberal principles.

Well I am talking in theory, not in practice. In practice, neoliberals under-regulate (or have to create so much bureacratic red tape that they prove it never should have been privatized at all), while libertarians skew toward siding with the social-authoritarian party of the US for the sake of regressive tax policy.

Neoliberals think free markets creating wealth is the best way to run an economy, but they are fine with attempting government intervention as a means to an end of preventing negative externalities, EG carbon taxes on a private energy industry. Neoliberalism doesn't have opinions on social issues or how they should be enforced.

Libertarianism has clearer ideological motivation and thinks something like government intervention is bad on principle rather than due to being good or bad policy. Libertarians also care about social issues and any kind of 'freedom' or 'liberty' that might be at stake concerning the government's powers.

A neoliberal opposes Medicare for All style policy because they think hospitals and insurers in the free market will be more efficient, and figures some regulatory oversight will stop the market's selfish inclinations from screwing over the little guy. A libertarian opposes Medicare for All style policy because they think a doctor's paycheck or ability to practice being inescapably controlled by the government is literally a form of slavery.

Generally adoptables are you buying the rights to the design to use yourself, but yes, I think it being obviously a furret compromises the actual legality here.

Defining who "the bad guys" are from a state's point of view is a political action, first of all. Saying "Nazi Germany are bad guys" is a political statement. Alternatively, if Captain America faithfully follows the orders of his government to do whatever, that is also a political action. What is more political than government decision making?

Winter Soldier and Civil War are both about Steve having to make intrinsically political decisions and stands, using his own conscience and moral compass.

When people say these movies aren't political i need to ask what do we think political means anymore? Even if it's defined as not exercising a political consciousness as your post seemed to imply, that's not true of these movies.

Who's really willing to dispute that DS2 dlc is better than Lost Izaleth, Crystal Cave and Tomb of the Giants? Those three are a run of the worst locations in the series.

I think the end of Ace Attorney 6 is pretty outrageous. Really, Ace Attorney would be better off without the timeskip happening how it did.

That said I don't get super invested in canon and additional works. I can very comfortably compartmentalize what happened in the original as being separate from any sequel so bad later works never ruin something for me.

I was so glad Astarion's VA won best VA at TGA. After his quest line's final boss I actually said to myself out loud, "that will win best voice acting at TGA".

I watched "Baby Jay" and it was hilarious and interesting.

I've had flagship Androids and now an iPhone 15pm and I can't say the quality of iOS software is any significantly better than stuff on Galaxy phones, and some of it is actually just inferior like the stock calculator or alarm app. iMessage is nice but I only have one other family member with an iPhone and my friends use Discord.

That said an iPhone also isn't any significantly worse than an Android, you can still get free versions of essential premium apps like YouTube through the AltStore, and I find that I prefer iOS's general navigation over Galaxy. Swiping left to go back and swiping from the bottom to see different apps feels better than the dedicated screen back and home buttons to me, after getting used to this. iOS also seems to handle suspending background apps better and I don't find myself needing to periodically close out all my apps to cool my phone down.

It is pretty crazy how Lupin is just like "...eh, okay" about killing the rat guy lol. They acted that scene really well
