The thing is, those games were super hard for me at the time so I'd get pissed off all the time and it soured me on the entire system after awhile. Genesis though- that's my jam. That port of Might & Magic 2 is one of my favorite RPGs still. And you had stuff like Warsong too. | Black_Crusher 07/16/20 2:05:54 PM #1 | Hello! I'm working on my 2nd roguelike game and am getting the mechanics hashed out (so far, so good). The thing is, I don't really have anything special in mind to make it really stand out from any given traditional roguelike. The first game had a magic lantern which changed color phases and that influenced the core rules. Since I want to improve everything I can with this 2nd one, I want to think of something different to use for it. One idea I had was to have the player choose from one of several dungeons right off the bat, and once it was complete they'd get some sort of reward and then go back and choose another of the remaining dungeons. I figure each dungeon could have some sort of gimmick or theme to it, so say one might be really cold with icy walls and that might make it so your stamina is slow to regenerate or the occasional blizzard whips by. I figure since you guys come up with all kinds of weird shit in general this would be a good place for ideas! EDIT: Here are a couple recent screenshots. Right now I only have about ten, but that's ok because I don't even have a way to play them lolI don't know if it's the reason why, but if the music was recorded to analog and transferred to tape it does sound 'warmer'. Same thing with vinyl. Recording to digital loses something along the way. Years ago my band managed to record a short demo to a 2-inch tape reel to reel from like 1975 or something. Was an experience that's for sure! I haven't played tapbletop in a long time, but one DM I knew would get mad and punish you the more rules you knew. For example somebody wanted a Two-Handed sword because "it deals 3D6 damage" vs. a Hand Axe that deals "only 1D4+1" and the DM would get mad because the character the person was playing wouldn't know something like that.
