I used to visit Jammers site a lot (you can probably find comments by Del_Duio going back 10+ years)

You mustve loved Trials and Tribulations.

My dad got me into TOS reruns in the 70s but I didnt watch TNG first-run until maybe S5 or so. After that I was glued to my tv every week, then later I caught the earlier stuff on syndication at 7pm each night and watched those for years.

DS9 though I got to watch right from the get go and that was it. Watched it religiously each week all the way to the (Gowron eyes) GLORIOUS END. I also watched Voyager on the Ill-fated UPN but I think I tuned out around S3 or so, as it just wasnt the same as I think most fans might agree.

Is this a good show? I got recommended clips of it on Youtube.

Yeah it's actually pretty good, but you have to get through the first couple episodes where they seem to go out of their way to make everybody talk a mile a minute and have x/o's do bro fists and stupid stuff like that (in this way, it's a bit like Orville- once they get the early episode cringe out of the way the show really takes off). The four main characters are all good and likable. Tendi is awesome.

At its heart, it's made by actual Trek fans who 'get it' and you can tell. Plus it's nice that they are continuing the TNG / DS9 era aesthetic again, with ships and tech that actually look like something that fits with established canon.

Season 2 Episode 26

But it's arguably good in Season 1 as well. Duet is for example, a stand out episode.

DS9 is my favorite Trek, I am a giant fan and this saddens me!

I'd say honestly the pilot (Emissary) is really good, as well as a few S1 like Duet you mention, the one with "I am Tosk!" Captive Pursuit, Babel, the finale with Wynn trying to get a brainwashed follower to blow up Keiko's school. My main problem with S1 is that it leans too heavily on established Trek so get stuff like a pretty poor Q episode, Mrs. Troi shows up to make our balls shrivel up into raisins, etc.

S2 has even more good episodes than the first. The Circle trilogy stuff is great as is Necessary Evil (a real standout piece for Odo). The Wire is an early Garak showcase and then you have Blood Oath which features 3 TOS Klingons reprising their roles in a revenge mission with Dax. Towards the end of the season you have a super important episode that starts to show The Dominion, which will become integral to the rest of the entire series.

For my money from S3+ it's amazing, but I wouldn't write off the first 2 seasons at all because there's a lot of character development and world building that's very important.

MrMelodramatic posted...
DS9 is the best Star Trek out there imo, and gets good in season 2. TNG on the other hand, is good (3rd best series imo) and doesnt start being worth watching until mid season 3

TNG Season 3 is the best season of any Trek show, period. I'd still rate DS9 overall as being better, but nothing beats TNG S3 (3-6 is all excellent!)

Judgmenl posted...
Lower Decks is the best Star Trek series, don't @ me bros.

Of the newer crap, Lower Decks is the best by far. I actually look forward to seeing it, as opposed to looking forward to them finally canceling Picard and Discovery.

If youve played the game or the demo I was wondering what you might think I could do to improve it? Ive been working on a major update for the past week and a half so now would be a good time to change or tweak some things if necessary.

The main things in this update:

New class (Monk), along with new class skills and etc / Some new items / improved shops that can sell better gear than before. Some new enemies like a Doom Snapping Turtle and a ninja baby chicken. Lots of tweaks to improve things like enemies getting the pissed buff will deal less damage than before and etc. And bug fixes for things Im discovering while testing the Monk out.

Any feedback would be really helpful, its kind of just me in my bubble but Id like to get more opinions aside from my own if possible.

Thank you, PotD!

My guy grew some mutant arm with flames coming out of it, then had some girlfriend trouble because of it later or something ridiculous like that. It's a really cool game (the sRPG part) but the story and how they put it all together are really something else. It's kind of amazing, really.

Most of them I still play now-

  • Diablo 2- Have been playing Resurrected every day since launch in fact. OG D2 I played off and on for over 10 years, and if you add it all up I've only ever found TWO high runes. TWO. The other day I got a Mal rune which was the first one ever for me. Such a great game but those drop rates are absolutely soul-crushing.
  • Dark Souls 1- Don't ask me why, it's the world design I suppose. Getting to Firelink and hearing those violins start up was something else. This game has had a huge influence on me for my own stuff in some small way.
  • Borderlands 2- If they boosted the power of ARs it might be next to perfect IMO. If it weren't for the cool cel shaded visuals I would've likely never have given it a shot.
  • Plants vs. Zombies (360 / DS)- The only tower defense game I've tried that I liked, and holy crap is this one tons of fun. Only downside is if you're playing multiplayer and you're the zombies it's not nearly as fun as when you're the plants. Bonus points for what seems like an endless supply of extra game modes and unlockables.
  • Everquest - Eh... Maybe this was more an ADDICTION thing and not a comfort game but there was a span of say 3 years where I played this every day for up to 8 hours a pop (before kids, obviously!) The only way I was able to stop playing it was when the Luclin expansion came out and my computer could no longer play it. Kind of the "cold turkey" approach. The only MMO I've ever really played, my inability to get off of it is why I don't play or try these anymore.
  • Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes- Aside from most of the units in the Elf army being way too OP this is probably the best puzzle game I've tried
  • Dragon Warrior 3 remake for the gbc- My favorite version of my favorite DQ game
  • The Ground Gives Way (PC) - One of the better roguelikes I've played with very easy to use controls and pretty ASCii graphics. I play this all the time at work. The guy who made this is also a good chap so I like to give this a shout out whenever possible.
  • NES Ultima Quest of the Avatar- A great old school RPG on the original toaster but unlike Exodus (or lots of Dragon Warriors) it looks really good too. Has an original plot where you are trying to better yourself and not defeat the evil big boss at the end.
  • NES Zelda- I can always fire up and play like it was 1988 again
  • Might & Magic 2 (Apple ][e) - This is such a wonderful game. Probably the best-looking of all those old computer games I played as a kid, and leaps and bounds better than the first one
  • Mrs. Pac Man, Galaga, Dig Dug and Frogger are all super old games I'd play at the arcade whenever I got the chance. Luckily they released these lots of times on Namco collections since
  • Wizardry 5 (SNES) has all the great gameplay of the NES Wizardry but looks 100x better. Only drawback is the dungeon isn't as deep floor-wise.

I actually was not spoiled on the ending, but it was pretty obvious that Bruce Willis was dead based off the structure of the movie to me. I have had actually seen similar plotlines before in TV shows before then. I still enjoyed the movie though, since it is entertaining on its own and didn't really rely on plot twists to keep it interesting.
That was a good catch, I was totally floored.

Sadly I don't, I did replay it not that long ago and it didn't age that well, but back in the day it was my favorite Zelda, pretty much still is even today, just, can't really enjoy playing it anymore because the controls etc just are not good enough anymore. I really loved the original zelda as well though, but Zelda II was the first rpg side scroller, and I freaking love them. Took till like Symphony of the Night before a better one came out I think.
@wolfy42 you ever play Battle of Olympus? It was built off the Zelda 2 engine but theres no overworld bits. Has the Ancient Greek theme and lots of fun.

The time limit is the basis for all of the incredible world- and character-building that makes MM so awesome. The best thing about it is seeing how all of the various characters and their interactions develop in response to the impending apocalypse, and experiencing that relies on having the apocalypse actually happen enough times to see how everyone reacts and/or try different things to help them come to terms with it. The time limit is necessary for that, and given that it's really not restrictive enough to make finishing the game a problem (especially with the Inverted SoT), I'm quite happy for the tradeoff.

That's not to say that MM doesn't have its flaws (the saving system is a big one, though the 3DS remake addressed part of that issue), but the time limit very much is not one of them.

I think the main reason why I didnt like it was I had just come from playing OOT for a long time and the exploration aspect was probably my favorite part. Going from a game where I could take my time and fart around to one with a pretty rigid timer was too jarring I guess.

Its cheesier but I always liked the S-Mart ending. Ash blasting away with a 2 barrel that somehow holds like 40 rounds hahaha
