Given that we used to have gun clubs in schools. And that people used to bring their guns onto school grounds (kept in their vehicle), sometime publicly displayed on vehicle mounted gun racks. And given the percentage of the population that owns guns has actually decreased (only 30% last I checked). And given the string of mass and school shootings if fairly recent in US history, after the former two practices have died out and the latter has become a reality. I can't really blame guns in and of themselves. Further any law that punishes 100% of the population for the crimes of a fraction of a fraction of a percent of the population is an unjust law imo.

NRA can die in a fire though.

DS9 had a 2 part episode about the prospect of the US rounding up the homeless, jobless, and mentally ill and shoving them in segregated districts.

I believe the mayor of LA also toyed around with the idea of doing something similar around the time that episode aired.

Given people used to bring their guns to school in their trucks just a few decades ago, and mass shootings going on the rise is fairly recent. I think its safe to say such shooting are a symptom of something wrong in our country rather the a disease in and of itself.

Also any law that punishes 100% of citizens for the actions of less the 1% of the population is a bad and unjust law.

Something to note when you do watch Brotherhood. Annoyingly, about 1/5 through the series, they start putting some scenes after the end credits sequence (and there is one episode with scenes during the end credits sequence). Some of these scenes are pretty important and can leave you with a "when did this happen?" moment down the road if you miss them.

Well FMA spends alot more time with Hughes because his death happens much later in the series compared to FMA:B.

The original series was pretty accurate to a point, before it caught up to the manga, made a ton a filler, and ended on a lame villain.

So Brotherhood rushed through that opening stuff so as not to waste everyone's time and get to the parts of the manga that had not been adapted to anime yet.

Episode II/III: Thanks to Jango's aforementioned idiocy, Obi-Wan discovers that the records in the Jedi Temple have been tampered with. He heads off to Kamino and discovers a secret clone army, ordered years ago by someone impersonating a dead Jedi. Both of these point to someone with significant power working against the Jedi, likely from within the Republic itself. Yet incredibly, in the years afterwards that the Clone Wars raged, nobody in the Republic ever thought to maybe investigate this suspiciously convenient army or look into how they're being made and trained; if they did, they might have noticed that all of them have an anti-Jedi kill-order hard-coded into them from birth.

Ironically, it was a handful of the clones themselves that wound up investigating that. It did not go well for them.

Too many favorite moments in Star Wars for me to pick a specific one. Though Maul vs. Sidious is probably my favorite saber fight.

If you want to see where Ron Moore wanted to go with Voyager, check out BSG 2004. His vision for Voyager was amazing, but the Star Trek producers totally ruined it. At least we got the amazing BSG out of it.

Ya, I have heard quite a bit about stuff they wanted to do but could not due to producers, as well as stuff that was scrapped willingly. I remember hearing one instance of the former was they wanted The Year of Hell to be a whole (or at least most of a) season. Instead we just got a 2 parter, but some of the stuff they wanted to do for that wound up in the Xindi arc of Enterprise.

One of my favorites that I heard was scrapped, was the idea of a Cardassian vessel being thrown into the Delta Quadrant with the other two ships, along with Janeway possibly not making it through the pilot.

I had watched Voyager during its initial run on TV when I was younger. Got the DVDs for TNG and TOS in high school. Just watched DS9 and Enterprise for the first time about 2 years ago. Have seen nothing of Discovery.

Garak and Gul Dukat were fantastic characters. The Dominion wound up being a great antagonistic force. Most of the remaining cast was solid. It had more of an overarching story going on than any other Trek. It took a couple seasons to pick up, but that is a problem every series past TOS has.

I rank DS9 at the top.

TNG also has great characters and great stories. But while still greatly enjoyable, most of its issues are straight black/white problems, whereas DS9 was more shades of grey. Also, I enjoy overarching plots more than independent stories.

TNG is 2nd for me.

TOS is a classic, but has not aged very well. Still great fun for people that enjoy campiness, and still has fun stories to tell.

Enterprise on the other hand has some problems. Very bad first couple seasons, with its best episodes being straight ripoffs of previous series episodes. But it makes up for most of that with season 3 and 4 (except the ending).

I place TOS and ENT fairly evenly at 3rd.

Voyager is a mess. Fantastic premise that is completely wasted and irrelevant. They introduce great antagonistic races like the Viidians, but instead focus on stinkers like the Kazon. Voyager does have some of the best episodes in all of Trek sprinkled here and there imo, but there is so much garbage to trudge through to get there.

As a whole, I have to place it at the bottom.

TLDR:

DS9>TNG>TOS=ENT>VOY

The Trails series is one of my all time favorite series of games. Trails in the Sky kicks off what is currently an 8 game long interconnected series (the story is roughly 60% done at this point). The first game can be quite slow (like Fellowship of the Ring slow), as it spends most of its time setting up the world for all the games to come (if you dislike reading, the game is not for you), but the payoff is worth it.

Cave Story and Dust are both great metroidvanias.

Bastion is pretty solid.

I had tons of crap happen to my mouth around the age of 25-26 myself (or at least that's when it became noticeable). Wisdom teeth all of a sudden started to shift towards the center of my jaw. My teeth were all messed up in relatively short order, with two of them even grinding into and eating away at each other.

Wound up having to get 2 surgeries for the wisdom teeth, a 3rd for a cyst that developed in my upper gum line, braces for almost 3 years (actually just got them off a couple months ago, and a crown.

Sometimes, things just happen, that you can't control. Can be especially bad if you lack the money to get it taken care of early, and have to wait until it gets worse.

Both. I was circumcised at birth. If we have a son, I won't do this to him.

When I was 16 and still hadn't been baptized yet, my mom had me go through a course to get me ready for it and I did. I regret this. I wasn't baptized earlier because I already had doubts. Pushing me into this only delayed the inevitable and left me in deep depression for years while I struggled with losing my faith. Waking up each day unable to believe but sure you're evil for not isn't pleasant. My children's religious choices are their own. I won't force them into anything.

According to some Christian doctrine, infants who die unbaptized go to limbo purely because their parents failed to make the rite of passage into Christendom. Don't know if I agree with this though.

That is not all Christen doctrine. Actually I believe that is mostly a Catholic thing. Most Protestants don't believe in Purgatory/Limbo at all. Some Protestant groups don't even believe in birth baptism. Some will do so when you join the church. Others do so when you actually pledge yourself to Jesus as a symbolic gesture.

Not sure about the Eastern Orthodox, views on such matters. But they are probably the closest to Judaism.

Rumors of John Kelly's sensibility have been greatly exaggerated.

I'd like someone to actually press him on what sort of compromise would've worked. Keep slavery?! Maybe a "hey, you guys seceded and attacked a U.S. military installation just because the country elected someone you didn't want and we really don't like that, please come back" letter to the Confederate leaders?

Also, lulz, apparently the Missouri Compromise never existed, nor all the decades slavery was an issue prior to the Civil War that involved all sorts of negotiation.

Garlands_Soul posted...
Golden Road posted...
Wasn't the North quite willing to let the South keep up slavery if it meant keeping the country together?

I'm pretty sure Lincoln didn't even free the slaves until it was a good idea to do so to win the war. He wanted the union intact first and foremost.

Ironically, confederate defenders will cite this as proof that Lincoln is somehow a "fraud" when it comes to fighting to free the slaves, yet at the same time from the other side of their mouths claim it was a "War of Northern Aggression" because Lincoln was gonna force them to free their slaves, so they just had to rebel.

the south rebelled over taxes from all I learned. while the slavery thing did piss them off, it hadn't been made law yet so it wasn't the most major deciding factor.

Lincoln from all i've learned didn't give a rats ass about the slaves but his motives don't matter to me they needed to be freed.

as far as nothern agression goes, as a southerner I laugh at that, the south attacked first. but it is true a lot of the war if I recall took place in the south, as the south usually did pretty damn good at winning battles on their turf but got their asses handed to them anytime they went up north. (and in the first couple of years or so the south won a large chunk of the battles)

ultimately both sides had major flaws, but as far as human rights is concerned the better side won imo. but funnily enough it was the north who tried claiming the slaves only counted as 3/5ths of a person when it came to tallying population. the south wanted them to count fully but admittedly for all the wrong reasons

The initial Confederate states actually seceded from the union over the election of Lincoln (or at the very least they used it as a rallying point to garner support). Most of these states did not even put Lincoln on the ballot. Lincoln won without getting a single electoral college vote from a slave state, and also received less than 40% of the popular vote. Trumps election has nothing on how divisive Lincoln was historically.
