Cancel any time, as in immediately after getting your key, and keep the game!

(that's a link for it, which I forgot, and it's got a reference tag for me, but don't feel obligated to use it)

okay i bought it and then on the redemption page it says "This month's full bundle will unlock at 10AM Pacific time on February 2, 2018!"

does that mean they'll add more to what i just bought or is that referring to the regular humble bundles?

^You get Civ VI now and then usually 6+ more games later. I think February 2nd is the day they activate... (edit: you just said that). But yeah, the bundles you get for your $12 range in value from $150-200 on average. You get more!

It should list your billing date in the account. Mine says Feb 23, so yours should be the same as I only signed up today as well. I'm going to cancel before it charges me again. I don't know if the thing stays active then dies on Feb 23 if you cancel now or just dies now and cuts you off. To be safe, I'm leaving it until they put up the next batch of games for the Feb bundle. I think they leapfrog it like this with "a teaser" game then the rest of the bundle so that you don't want to cancel it. Civ VI would've kept the December/January subscribers around, most likely, then the allure of another bundle on the 2nd too.

From their support page (because you've got me wondering):

"Your subscription will be cancelled, and you wont be charged for future months. All the bundles youve already received are yours to keep."

So to me, it sounds like as soon as you cancel it, anything you don't currently possess will be unavailable. It's very unclear though. In theory, we've already prepaid for February, so we'd probably get the one on February 2nd still, but as long as we cancel before the next billing date, 3 weeks after the next bundle anyway, it won't matter.

Do you know how much the DLCs are off the top of your head?

i have no clue i would imagine not at all unless they do a special sale bundle

the two that come with this bundle are $4.99 a piece on steam. civ vi is still $59.99.

I remember when I was subbed about a year back, they would charge for the next month on the Friday before the rest of the bundle unlocked. and you can cancel whenever, though if you stay subbed, you get a 10% discount on their web store and also sometimes get wallet credit for buying one of their various bundles. So for this one, you just need to remember to cancel before the 26th.

The two DLC included are just little $5 nation/scenario packs. Aztec and Vikings. I want the Poland one (I'm not even Polish - well, I'm about 1% genetically - I just liked playing as them in Civ V), but alas...

And yeah, the discounts make it worth hanging onto until closer to the next billing date. I totally forgot about that.

It's not as good as Civ V, but it's still fun enough. The new major expansion launches in about a month, which is likely why they did this promo. Also, for $12, it's worth finding out. It's hard to not risk it for the cost of a couple of burgers.

Yeah, same here. Civ V was okay at launch, but definitely felt barren until the bigger add-ons. I was waiting for a complete version of VI, but $12......

What a weird game... I played it for several hours today and they really took city management seriously. It's the biggest focal point of the game, by far. I'm not sure if that's good or bad though, and it'll probably take me a long time to figure out where I put this one in terms of ranking within the series. If I'm still enjoying it when the add-on comes out, I will probably buy that too.

Yep this is done in part to get those ready to buy that expansion on day 1, usually the expansions are large improvements on the base game. If its like most Civ games it will likely have 2 expansions, so those waiting for a "complete edition" will be waiting for at least 2-3 years.

Sheesh, I'm still trying to understand Civ V.

Lol, yeah, I'm still finding new ways to enjoy it. My current favourite thing is turning off the ability to raze cities and then funnel armies to allied city states. Antwerp was my bro all game up until Japan decided it wanted to conquer it... Big mistake. I was unprepared for war with them, but my little buddy managed to hold out just long enough for me to get involved. I took Kyoto while Antwerp laid siege to their other three cities, one after another, and conquered them all. It legitimately finished the game at about 4th or 5th place overall (with 14 AI Civs starting in the game plus me). I looooooove how they do city states in VI though, you don't use money or missions, but emissaries you earn through cultural advances that you station in the ones of your choosing. It was too imbalanced in V, I thought, and you could always win by just bulking your economy and buying your way to a diplomatic victory.

Civ VI feels a lot more complex than V was, but I'm starting to figure things out now, finally. I love the new Scythian faction, but I am sad to see Carthage relegated to city state status now (I loved their ability to cross mountains and the free harbors, easily my #1 pick out of the entire franchise). Greece has a leader that's not Alexander for once, too... The leaders and their A.I. seem much more logical in VI too. There have still been a couple of strange but typical incongruities in their behaviour, but for the most part it is significantly more grounded and enjoyable to deal with. I also appreciate that how you earn their favour makes a lot more sense. Gorgo (Greece) taunted me for having a big army and doing nothing with it, more or less, which functions as a hint with how to win their approval, I think. We were allied and the best of friends, and it didn't indicate a worsening or relations based on how things continued to play out, but it gave me some useful info.

The expansion looks cool, after reading up on it this evening. You can assign governors (which will presumably make managing things more hands-off) and each city has its own loyalty rank and can declare independence, which is the kind of feature I live for in these games... I don't how many wars I've waged in stuff like Hearts of Iron or Victoria simply to birth a new nation from part of an old one (this isn't quite that cool, but almost).

Lastly: a heartfelt appreciation from me to those who used the referral link I provided, as I will put that promo money towards getting the add-on in February <3 <3 <3

The "amenities" thing in Civ 6 is driving me bonkers right now. I can't seem to ever stay on top of it...

I've put in about 20 hours now. I still think I like Civ V more, even just the vanilla one, as the slower pacing from all the city management makes fighting wars kind of unappealing.

I'm glad I invested the $12, but the sluggish pace is really making it less addictive than previous entries. I like more changes than I dislike though. The diplomacy, resources, and faith are more streamlined, and I love that scientific and social developments are separated into simultaneous research categories. Policies are also better. But that pace... I'm hoping that it's just me being new to the game and not having found my ideal Civ yet, and time will tell.

I love BE! I always go with the harmony path, which I think is the one where you have human-alien hybrids and troops can ride the aliens and stuff. So good. The add-on made the game way more fun, as is tradition with these.

But yeah, Civ V is probably my favourite of the franchise so far. I'm always down for that.

I've been in it for a year, and it averages out to being worth it IMO. If I tally the number of games I got that I would have bought for $5 on Steam, I'm coming out ahead.

And that's not considering the hidden gem factor. Like, it's hard to put an objective value on a game like DiRT Rally, a game I never would have bought (or even considered pirating), but that has become one of my favorites.

It's funny how that works. There have been a few things I wasn't interested in at first glance, but upon trying them became some of my favourite games ever, like XCOM. I don't like SRPGs, so I wasn't going to get it. Then I saw who made it and figured I would risk it. Good decision.
