4 is probably the best.

I prefer to separate the Classic series and 4-onward given how radically different the games in tone and playstyle.

That being said, any of the original "classic" games I believe to be superior to any of the "run-and-gun" Resident Evils (starting with the so-called "4"). However, Code:Veronica is my personal favorite. I never played any "ReMakes", but I did enjoy the original as well as the Director's Cut version. ... Copied to Clipboard!

It's kind of funny to think that 4 was originally meant to be a GameCube exclusive, and instead it's now like the most ported game since 2005 except Minecraft.

i voted for 2 but not the 64 one because of the bad audio and cutscene.
