Then they could stop performing abortions and keep doing the rest of those services or another organization could do it.

There isn't some magic rule that says for every 1000 condoms you give out or 1000 STD tests you perform you have to kill a fetus.

you have some serious anger issues

What rational American in 2021 doesn't have anger issues when someone whines about the vaccine when we are seeing the light the end of the tunnel at the end of a pandemic?

At this point we just need to make it so that if someone died of covid after having been offered a vaccine they are considered uninsured and their assets are liquidated down to zero net worth for any care they received.

Society will try to keep them alive to the best of it's ability but insurance shouldn't have to cover that level of stupidity and you don't get to rack up 500,000 in hospital bills recovering from a preventable virus and still keep the equity in your home. If you get the virus and end up in the hospital we are humane, we keep you alive, and then we zero out all of your accounts to cover the cost.

"But Daddy why are we in an apartment instead of a house and you can't pay for our college".

Well son I got the covid and was too fucking stupid to get the vaccine so all of my medical care was covered by liquidating every cent of my net worth instead of being covered by my insurance".

what are you worried about then?

It is a truth right now that if we are going to try to appeal to people to get the vaccine at this point we should aim low. I realize that IQ is a murky concept. But if we are trying to convince people at this point we should not be using Math. If someone was intelligent enough to understand statistics or understand an appeal to reason they would have already gotten the vaccine.

That is my point.

To maximize people getting the vaccine at this point when they have refused the offer of a way to avoid a virus that has killed millions of people we need to appeal to people as if they are the stupidest fucking people on the planet. Because they are.

They are either hopelessly paranoid and think that all of the data presented so far is some massive conspiracy or they are effectively adults in the bodies of children that don't want to get the vaccine because needles are owie.

High-ish but I honestly shouldn't have even mentioned IQ as a concept.

My own basis for my judgement of my IQ is.... I was between 97-99% on the 'Iowa tests' as a kid. I got a 1480 on the SATs (740 math 740 verbal on the 1600 point one) at the end of high school which I bombed out of and the I joined the Army and got a 134 GT score on the ASVAB.

I then got a 3.9 GPA in Computer Science at a major university (Cu Boulder) using the GI bill.

I'm well aware of the fact that IQ doesn't equal smart decisions (which is obvious from me posting on a 20+ year old gamefaqs account) and I shouldn't have used it to trash people not getting the vaccine but honestly if you look at the people not getting vaccinated it is the poor and uneducated and they are going to suffer more than those of us that are not poor or uneducated.

We need to find out how to sell the virus to these idiots at this point. The only commonality across races, genders, societies, religions, is that the vaccine hesitant people are generally dumber than dog shit. Their average IQ is below 90 and we need to accept that and stop pretending we can make an appeal to reason or talk about the statistical likelyhood of suffering from the virus vs the vaccine.

These people are, as a group, too fucking stupid to understand math or logic. If you start talking statistics their eyes will glaze over. If you talk about ow the vaccine works they will panic.

The vaccine lottery is a start but we need to think of more ways that these drooling morons can be convinced to take the shot.

It was epic and awesome for fans of the genre. Like you met people in the air that were like "wats hapennin" and you swooped in and massacred them them because they had no idea how to fly and then you came in blasting dozens of guys on the ground and then whiped out the next wave of noobs that tried to spawn in a fighter rinse and repeat.

I felt like a monster in the air.

This type of game was my jam back in the day with Freespace and Freespace 2 being some of my favorite games ever.

In recent times I was a huge fan of the starfighter assault mode in Battlefront 2 which was legit sci fi Ace Combat when people were actually playing it. And if you became a king of that mode you could take your skills and be a demon of the skies ruining people in the big Battlefield style maps raking people beneath you with lasers as you blasted noobs out of the sky that dared challenge your dominance.

It was fucking awesome. But its dead now. Sorry.

The Star Wars Squadrons game recently actually had a damn good campaign but it didn't have third person camera which made me sad.

I've been meaning to give it another go.

I played up tot he level cap at the launch of 'Realm Reborn' on a Warrior/Marauder but I came to the conclusion back then that I just liked WoW more.

I felt like I didn't have a lot to do or think about compared to wow because the global cooldown was a lot longer. I settled into just using a game pad for the combat and taxing a relaxed view towards playing the game rather than being a try hard like I usually am in WoW.

It was pretty, the story was pretty dumb, and the gameplay was fun but not fun enough to stick around.

I've been meaning to try out the new expansions because I've heard the story is actually fairly interesting, at least compared to what was there before.

So how does this work?

If youre under a certain cap, the rich people have to pay you money? A grand or so should do. So you dont abuse it. And your bank account would need to be transparent to inspections, no withdrawing large amounts of cash, and if you get a good job, or have too much savings or any major discrepancies with your finances, then you lose access to the program for a period of time or whatever. Its a complicated thing to work out.

Give them just enough to pay the rent, but not enough to eat steak & smoke cigarettes every night.

The idea of UBI is that everyone would get it. No strings attached. No minimum income level, no graduating scale of it being reduced as you make more money. Every single person would get that money. If UBI pays out 2k a month and you are making 2k a month already then you still get the 2k a month from UBI.

I see this as happening eventually but I'm not sure we are ready yet. Its the Star Trek future basically. If you want to just be a bumb you can do that but if you want to do something to be productive you basically start from a point where everything you get in terms of cash is gravy.

As long as UBI is in addition to existing programs and also truly universal, it would be an unambiguous social good that would help people out.

I think it should take the place of existing programs. If it truly is 'basic income'. Then it should cover food, housing, whatever at a basic enough level that someone is able to live. There would be no need for disability payments, unemployment, food stamps, etc.

But everyone that works would be doing better than everyone that doesn't because they would get their basic needs covered AND get paid a salary. Being on government welfare benefits would never be seen as a prize that people go after.

https://apps.npr.org/unfit-for-work/

That's a kind of ugly secret of the American labor market," David Autor, an economist at MIT, told me. "Part of the reason our unemployment rates have been low, until recently, is that a lot of people who would have trouble finding jobs are on a different program."
Part of the rise in the number of people on disability is simply driven by the fact that the workforce is getting older, and older people tend to have more health problems.
But disability has also become a de facto welfare program for people without a lot of education or job skills. But it wasn't supposed to serve this purpose; it's not a retraining program designed to get people back onto their feet. Once people go onto disability, they almost never go back to work. Fewer than 1 percent of those who were on the federal program for disabled workers at the beginning of 2011 have returned to the workforce since then, one economist told me.

We've put a time limit on unemployment and other benefits in order to push people off welfare but a significant number of the people that have been pushed towards work instead end up on disability and they never return to work.

Its an open secret that this is happening. We have the data showing that the % of people on disability increases with the rate of unemployment when there is a recession and we can look at locations with depressed economies in the US and, surprise, the % of people on disability is many times higher than the overall US average and the causes of disability have shifted away from clearly diagnosable illnesses and injuries.

We've created a system where people are given an incentive for exiting the workplace forever and created a perverse disincentive for self improvement and resilience. Even if someone feels like they could return to work doing something, anything, they are basically told that if they do that they will lose everything in terms of their benefits.

UBI would fix this. I'm not saying it wouldn't create other problems but it would fix this. If someone is able to work in any capacity they would be able to do it and still get their benefits. People that are working at McDonalds wouldn't be making less than that's only income is the safety net.

I collapsed during basic training in the summer at Ft Leonard Wood from heat stroke. I ended up in the hospital with a temperature of about 105.5 by the time they got me there. They put ice packs on me and set up an IV to hydrate me.

What happened was that I was sick and trying to push through it rather than going to sick call and getting a profile because I was afraid I would physically fall behind and I didn't want to look week. It was stupid and honestly I could have killed myself by just trying to push past the fact that I had a fever for days and was coughing up blood every night.

Ultimately they gave me anti-biotics, had me in a hospital for a couple of days and put me on a profile for about a week and I still graduated basic on time but this is often how people die in military training. They are physically not capable of doing the training either because of their basic fitness or because they are sick and they try to push themselves through it anyways even though their body is screaming at them to stop and rest.
